Hi there, thanks for your post. There is this file in the Data folder called PluginScripts.rxdata that handles the pause menu, the sprite resizing, following pokemon etc.
What I believe is happening is when you hit F12 to soft reset it deletes this file causing these issues to appear. Instead of soft resetting using F12 it's recommended to just reopen the game instead.
We'll look for a fix and update the game as soon as all currently known bugs have been fixed.
That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation.
I have now become wary of soft resetting and proceeding will instead close and reopen the game.

BTW the bright side to the glitch is that the run toggle I was able to set in the glitch has remained on.

So I have been playing the game for a few days now and I don't know if the two problems I have are bugs but seems like it. First one is the problem for thr fossil place everytime I try to talk to the guy to wake up my fossil it makes me go back and the guy tells me I can come back later when I have a fossil. The second one is the shadow Pokémon for some reason if you put a shadow Pokémon that's ready to be purified into the nav it just stops the game and doesn't work anymore and I have to reset the game.

We're up to v1.0.13 now, here's what has changed:
  • Temporarily disabled overworld footprints since we suspect that it is cause a bunch of issues
  • Fixed Gossifleur's following sprite, it no longer walks sideways
  • Made sure that Roaming Pokémon don't override overworld encounters
  • A bunch of crashes have been fixed that had a small chance of appearing when changing maps
  • Waterfall no longer crashes the game
  • Fixed a bug with the Battle Frontier that would delete your party and crash the game (If this happened and you start the game in this version your party should be fine)
  • Made sure the game won't crash if you somehow have no Pokémon after first receiving your starter (if you do somehow manage to do this, DONT SAVE as we may be unable to recover your party)
  • Added a Discord button to the load screen which will invite you to the discord
  • You can now use the Exp. Share from your bag
  • Added secret inputs for the PC that helps with organising the PC for a living dex. Hold Ctrl to show the index number of each slot (so the first slot in box 1 shows the number 1 and the 1st slot in box 2 shows 31). If you then hold Alt it will show every Pokémon's Pokédex number
  • Tuber Parker now correctly shows up in the Phone
  • Added a missing spacebar in the Shard Mart
  • Moved the PokéCenter healing balls up by a pixel
  • Fixed Beak Blast, it now burns the opponent rather than the user
  • The chance of finding items in a Cave Phenomenon Encounter is increased when using a Repel
  • With the PokéSearch your current Modifier Settings now get saved
  • Decreased Rock Smash encounters from 80% to 50%
  • Fixed some options in the options screen (You can no longer configure controls in the load screen, you can now toggle movement style)
  • Eggs, Foreign Pokémon and Starters now have a 5% of having their Hidden Ability
  • Shadow Geyser now only works on specific Pokémon that can be shadow
  • Overworld Encounters will now try to disappear when you're a certain distance away
  • Wild Flabébé will now have a random flower instead of just the red
  • Fixed the "Egg Watch" screen
  • Few minor tile fixes in Hubris Town and Bright Cave
  • Gave Ninjakid Randall's Shedinja in his rematch battle Safety Goggles for the Sandstorm so it's no longer useless
  • Fixed the pokéball lineup bar in trainer battles
  • Fixed a bug regarding certain HM Moves that you could reactivate during the animation

Hi,

since this game seems to be updated frequently and is also a full-length main series Pokemon game in terms of concept, I decided to report bugs at certain milestones, like maybe after each gym battle. This will ensure that there don't end up being too many screenshots (I don't know if there's a limit to how many that can fit in a post), and that I'll always be on the most up to date version as I'll be checking the thread regularly. After I finish the game completely, I'll give a review.

I'm not on discord, so I apologize if any of these were already reported in the server.

Here's everything I found up to the first gym.

aswell -> as well

Overall thoughts: The amount of content in the game is very impressive for having been made in a little over a month! If I didn't read the first post or see the screenshots, and I only heard that there was a Game Jam game made with 8 gyms and an E4 + Champion, I might have wondered if in order to fit it within the time period of the Game Jam it would use mostly or all default assets. But it has custom sprites and tiles, and definitely a lot of work put into it overall. I liked how there are comparisons that could be made to Hoenn, what with most of the music being from the Hoenn games and a few similarities in the structure of the journey like taking a boat across the sea after the first gym, and the first gym you can visit being the fifth you challenge, while also having aspects that make it different from Hoenn too.

Something that surprised me a lot was
Silver being the leader of Neo Team Rocket. I wonder what led to him forming another version of a group he hated. It's also interesting that this seems to be an alternate interpretation where the villain won, similar to what happens in Team Rocket's Castle in USUM, since he mentions beating Lyra in the Burned Tower.

A question I had that went unanswered is why there were Neo Team Rocket grunts in Ingrid's gym. You can see this if you enter the gym before getting four badges, and an NPC in Artemis City also comments on it, which made me think this was a plot point that was going to lead somewhere. However, when you're able to battle Ingrid's gym, there are no Neo Team Rocket grunts there any longer, and no one brings up that they were there before. (I actually speculated that maybe Ingrid was the leader of Neo Team Rocket for a bit)

I really liked the special effects on the title and ending screens, they fit perfectly with the title of the game! Also, June talking about how the battle was like a sunflower in the glow of the morning sun brightened my day!

I like the game a lot, the graphics are amazing, the battles are fun, the maps are good. There is one big criticism I have, and I really hope I am not the only one, it is to much exp grinding. That would be fine if there were like good location to farm exp, but there is not. You get little exp from the routes around towns and the Lucky Egg comes later. This game could do with a few training partners or a massive buff in experience gain. The hard exp farming turns me off a bit on this game, hopefully you'll take note of this and do something about it.

Hellllooo! What a game! I just finished this on stream after about 11ish hours.
Some thoughts:
This was a very fun pokemon game, this game excels at being a fun pokemon game. The pokemon selection is great, the game looks gorgeous, the features and QoL adds to the enjoyment. And the story is genuinely okay despite being a cliche Pokemon story and yet another team rocket story. I liked Silver's involvement and the part with Shadow Necrozma was cool.

Although I do wonder why the grunts were in the 5th gym, and why grunts were to the left of Upill town even after beating Silver. I thought both of these events were alluding to something, e.g the 5th gym leader being involved with team Neo Rocket, or that there was actually someone above Silver in team Neo Rocket so it wasn't quite over. But they both seemed to end up being red herrings? idk, or maybe a post game thing I missed?

I thought the balance was pretty perfect, if maybe a bit tough at some points, but again I'm a very casual trainer so if it was tough for me then that probably means it is good. I did think that some areas seemed to have too many trainers, and I get that part of it is so that the player ends up at a proper high level by the end of the game, but the player being level 60 vs level 80 by the end of the game isn't really going to dampen their experience imo.

Victory road also felt a bit disapointing, after coming out of Vanity Cave which was a proper complex and challenging cave system, Victory Road ended up being a mostly straight path of trainers. But that's me being rather nit-picky.

I quite liked the gym puzzles, they were all pretty unique, and some of them (cough cough the path tile one) are actually a good challenge. So that was really nice to see.

This was honestly a really fun pokemon game, and it is very impressive what you've managed to pull off. And I really do mean that, so please keep that in mind with what I'm about to go on about:

This is probably very much a "just my opinion" thing, but I feel like this game did not benefit from its boatload of content. Or rather, I would've loved to see the effort put into establishing more of an identity for the game instead. I feel like this game doesn't have much of a focus, which doesn't give it much of an identity. It has a plethora of features, berry farming, dex nav, shadow pokemon, megas, overworld encounters, unreal time and seasons, and much much more. And they all do increase the enjoyment of the game, but with the exception of the shadow pokemon, none of them really add to the identity of the game. The game doesn't really focus on many of them to the point where it is memorable. I think the shadow pokemon were mostly well done, especially with the climax of shadow necrozma, but it is very easy to play the game pretending they don't exist otherwise.

In my opinion, and maybe it is only my opinion, I would of much rather seen a pokemon game which is scaled down and doesn't have 900 pokemon and 8 gyms, but instead focuses on an identity a bit more. For example Taiseiyo from this jam is a pretty traditional pokemon game in most senses. But it has a whole lot of identity, and by being smaller scale it is able to focus a bit more on what it has. And I don't think it suffered by being only 3 gyms.

I just don't want to see you continuing this idea of "more content is better", you're obviously an amazing dev who makes amazing games, but I honestly think I would've enjoyed this game just as much, if not more, if it was only a handful of gyms, but had more focused themes, stories and characters. I think it is important to remember that the restrictions of these game jams are supposed to inspire people to see what creative, smaller but still complete, experiences they can make. Not to be a race to see how much content can be made in 42 days.

Please don't take all this too harshly, as I said before you've obviously made a massively enjoyable game that is a delight to play.
