Notes:
It's random chance that goes into deciding who you face at the Gym. I've done everything I could think of to keep it interesting and avoid repetition, but it may happen once in a while, especially early on. Also, some early-game Trainers get stronger if you leave them be. You can only fight each Trainer once, so make it count!
Finally, there is no barrier between areas. You can access areas containing Pokemon five times your strength straight out the gate!
Have fun you guys!

Hello, everyone! So sorry for the silence. Between the update, finals, and the holiday season, I've been fairly busy. The demo is still progressing well and I plan to have it out before the year's end! In the meantime, I've been at work fine tuning the game's systems, dealing with bugs and giving them a bit more consistency. In addition, I have plenty of new things to show off for the game! Now then, let's get started!

Gameplay and System Changes
A number of refinements have been made to the game's systems to help improve their functionality!

Buildings have been completely revamped! Instead of the complex equation they used to use, each building, instead, gives a set amount of revenue. While some do give more than others, there are bonuses that you can obtain from balancing all three. This way, each building is important to your revenue.

The Gym systems have also received a massive overhaul. The team check system is now much more accurate and consistent. It should have no issues with dual-typed Pokemon or Pokemon that evolve into your Gym's type like in previous versions. In addition, two new systems have been added:

You can now toggle your Gym Puzzle!
View attachment 23264View attachment 23265

You have 3 different puzzles you can toggle between. Whichever one you pick, it will affect the odds of certain Trainers appearing.
Trainers are now divided into 3 types, Smart, Strong, and Item Heavy. Each room boosts the odds of one and lowers the odds of another. Tired of Potion spamming Youngsters? Pick the Course Gym Puzzle, but be wary of Smart Trainers.
These types indicate how the Trainer fights:
Smart - Makes use of various strategies, tends to have Hidden Abilities and Egg Moves
Strong - Often overleveled and focuses on high power moves
Item Heavy - Carry more items than usual, tend to have X items and other such items.

That isn't all! In addition to Reputation, you now have Notoriety!
View attachment 23266
If you manage to get a Win Streak, your Notoriety will increase! High Notoriety will help increase your Reputation and give you more Revenue! However, stronger Trainers are more likely to appear with a high Notoriety, with some Trainers only appearing when it is high enough! Be wary as your Win Streak grows!

As you can see from these screenshots, v5.0.0 will be making use of the Gen 4 OW Collection and a pre-made Tileset. As I said before, credits will be updated when the demo releases.

As I mentioned before, the Gym's team checking system has been revamped. One major change was the starters. Certain starters, like Eevee and Onix, lose their Gym's type upon evolving. This meant that you had to either avoid evolving them or use the Gym TM, which might be a sub-par move for their respective playstyle. As such, Starters are now exempt from the Gym's type checking process. Evolve your Eevee as you please. Go for Steelix if you like! You will be able to use them in your Gym regardless. Keep in mind, this is specifically for the Starter Pokemon. This does not affect any Eevee or Onix obtained by any other means. Despite this, Eevee and Onix still have improved stats so players can still make use of them, if they wish to use them on a monotype run.

New Moves, Abilities, and Pokemon

One thing I wanted to add was more strategies for monotype teams. I thought of many other effects and abilities, like rain and sun, and decided to implement something like this for types that lack anything like it. So, allow me to introduce to you:

Atmosphere!
View attachment 23268View attachment 23269
Atmosphere improves the power of a certain type of Pokemon. In addition, they impose an effect on the field that either empowers or depowers certain types. The Freeing Atmosphere, shown above, allows Normal, Flying, and Water type Pokemon to use two-turn attacks without charging! There is also a Serene Atmosphere, which lowers the Speed of any Pokemon that isn't Grass, Psychic, or Ice! You can use certain moves or even abilities to set these effects, such as with a new Pokemon: Stover!
View attachment 23270
This moss-covered Rock is a convergent form of Snover! Where as that Pokemon sets Hail, Stover calls for a Serene Atmosphere! If you have a team that's a bit on the slower side, look into this little guy!

Atmosphere has a ton of uses, and this isn't even going into the moves and abilities that play off of them. When the demo drops, I hope you all have fun experimenting with this new field effect!

Finally, a number of Pokemon have been given access to the new abilities made for this game, such as Hoppip gaining the Wind Tunnel ability!
View attachment 23278

Miscellaneous

This is not all that has been added to Pokemon This Gym of Mine! One issue with the game is that there isn't much else to do, outside of the main portion of the game. After all, Gym Leaders deserve a break, right? Stop by the local game store and play some rounds of Triple Triad! You might even find some special rare cards!
View attachment 23272View attachment 23273
Card games not your style? How about the Arcade? Play games, earn points, and trade them for nice items! You can even try your hand at Miner, which can net you some great items, with a bit of luck. Find a plate and earn a TR of the same type!
View attachment 23274
Maybe you want to watch the TV? Oh, looks like a commercial is on... Catch them live to purchase the items they have for sale! Sometimes it has Trainer items, novelty items, or items for older Pokemon. You won't know until you tune in! Some items are only sold by them, so pay close attention!
View attachment 23275View attachment 23276
Finally, have you wished to learn more about your Gym Trainers? Well, now you can! When recruiting a new Gym Trainer, you get their PokeGear number! Call in and see what's on their mind.
View attachment 23277
Also pictured is the new sprite for Mayor Dalton!

I hope you've enjoyed the final sneak peek before the demo. Honestly, it's becoming harder and harder to call this game an update. It's starting to feel more like a remake. I've added so much to this game, and I'm far from done with everything I have left in store, but that can wait until it's done. As I have said, the demo for Pokemon This Gym of Mine v5.0.0 will be made available later this month. Play as much as you like, all data will be transferable to the full release, so don't worry about lost progress. Overall, I am incredibly excited to release this to you all, but I must hold off until it is as good as it can possibly be! You have all been very encouraging with your praise of the previous versions, and I can't be thankful enough.

Until then, I hope you all have a nice day, and, whether you celebrate the holidays or not, I hope the season is wonderful for you all!
Hi, I know this is gonna sound , really quite selfish, and not likely to happen. But if there was one thing i could add to this game, it would be to let the Flygon line learn X-Scissor so my Dragon Bugs could finally feel what it's like to be included in my Bug Gym. It wouldn't be overpowered by anymeans, my poor Flygon is a pretty weak dragon after all and if i wanted to use a strong dragon i have access to Kommo'o, but i want my two off-types to still be bug-like and with Lurantis getting X-Scissor I can use her as well. So yea, sorry to sound ungrateful for the fun game, but this is just a, if there was a single thing I could change, that would be it.

I didn't post anything when I played earlier this year but I had a lot of fun, went ghost in my playthrough. This is one of the more unique pokemon fangames out there and it became one of my favorites immediately. A lot of fangames tend to be a bit mentally taxing and I appreciate the slower, calmer pace in this!

I believe X-Scissor is being replaced like all the signature moves with custom moves for each type. Flygon might get the new bug one when the next version comes out :3

Since I've been working on a one-stop shop for team planning so I don't have to have ten different tabs open just to figure out what kind of team I want to use, I figured I'd share it with the community too, save other people from a few clicks as well. This compiles every possible Pokémon you can get on your team as a specific type's gym leader, including from teaching your signature move to an off-type Pokémon.

I've kept the list to the final evolutions to reduce clutter.
Names in bold are for STAB, regular names are off-types.
Starters are at the top of the list, then it's listed in alphabetical order.

holy moly Water gyms are getting shafted when it comes to off-types.

The list may be incomplete since the fakemon data is based on 4.2.0's PBS folder. The Umbal Pokémon have matches in the TM list, but none of the Frejian, Beezean or Opulant 'mons have any match besides TGOM's custom TRs. Whether this is due to developer's oversight or outdated data between 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 is completely unknown. TM info about Wendigar is also inexistent.
What does "Vee" means?

Hello, everyone! And thank you all so much for your patience!

Today, the demo for v5.0.0 of Pokemon This Gym of Mine has been released at the time of this posting. However, I do not feel like calling this game an "update" isn't really fitting anymore. So, allow me to introduce to you all...

Pokemon This Gym of Mine: Rank Up Edition!

title.png

It has been a long time coming just for this much, but this demo alone should have a massive chunk of content! And this isn't even everything I want to add to the game! There are a number of other features and events I have planned, but I'll save all that for later.

For now, please enjoy the demo to your heart's content. Let me answer some questions that you all may have:

Q: Can I use my old save file?
A: No, sadly. This is, effectively, a brand new game. However, this game will not interfere or alter your old save.

Q: Where are all of the Gen 9 Pokemon?
A: While the Starters have been added as a part of Lillith's event, they are, currently, the only Gen 9 Pokemon in the game. There are plans to add more, but I won't say too much at the moment. That's better saved for later in development.

Q: Can the save data from this game be used in the full version.
A: Yes, everything in this game is transferable to the full version.

Other than that, I hope you are all ready for everything this game has in store. In the meantime, there are somethings I want to mention.

The sprites are still a major work in progress. Mostly in regards to evolutions and Trainer sprites. If you notice anything odd, I, likely, already know about it.
Music was added, literally, just before this release. As a result, it may be a bit louder or softer than expected. I am aware of this and will try to deal with it for the full release.

I hope this demo paints a good picture of what I want with the full release. So, please, enjoy the new Pokemon, Abilities, Moves, and so forth that this game has to offer.

The demo can be found under the Spoiler tab at the top of the page. You'll find the downloads in there.

I do plan to release one more demo before the full release to show any changes made in regard to fan feedback, as well as to show off everything that wasn't covered in this demo. Until then, I hope you all have a nice day!

I've not fully played through the game myself, so if this already exists or is coming up in an update, sorry! Either way, it would be incredible if you could customize your gym in certain ways to give you an advantage in fights. It's your home turf, so you should be able to, for example, knock the roof off of your gym and have permanent Sunny Weather in your gym for fights- even if it is only at half efficiency to using Sunny Day as a move, or set up sprinklers on the roof to give a permanent Rain effect, which again can be weaker than normal Rain.

I'm not sure if it's been stated before but I downloaded this today. I did a police quest and now whenever I enter the police department the 'reward' of the quest happens and freezes me at the doorway until I close out so I'm kinda locked away from doing that. Also whenever I open up the pokedex to the 'area' section the game crashes
