Notes:
It's random chance that goes into deciding who you face at the Gym. I've done everything I could think of to keep it interesting and avoid repetition, but it may happen once in a while, especially early on. Also, some early-game Trainers get stronger if you leave them be. You can only fight each Trainer once, so make it count!
Finally, there is no barrier between areas. You can access areas containing Pokemon five times your strength straight out the gate!
Have fun you guys!

Is there a way to play the game with a controller or with wasd, because on a 60% keyboard it is pretty bad to play

Hello, everyone! My goodness, my apologies for the silence. Lots of things have been happening, including losing my internet access twice in one week, so I hope I can be a bit more consistent with my posts going forward.

Either way, I have some information regarding the update that I bet many of you would like to hear!

So, if you all don't mind a hefty post, let's get into details!

First and foremost, starters have been shifted around slightly. Ralts was originally exclusive to the Fairy type Gym. However, I had to lock it to female to avoid people accidentally evolving it into Gallade, costing them one of their two off-type Pokemon and forcing Gallade to know Dazzling Gleam. In version 5.0.0, Ralts will be moved to the Psychic Gym and will no longer be locked to female, giving players their choice of Gardevoir or Gallade! But, to do this I had to remove a Psychic starter. Sadly, Solosis was the one cut, but, don't despair Solosis fans, it will still be available in the wild! To fill in the gap in the Fairy Gym, Snubbull will be made into a starter for this Gym! If you are looking for a physical attacking Fairy, look no further than Snubbull!
In addition to Fairy, Poison has received a small change. Namely, The Nidorans have been condensed into one Starter choice with an additional choice between the two. Since this freed up a space for a new starter, Ekans can now be chosen as a Poison type Starter! In a way, this means that Poison technically has 4 starter choices!

One issue with the system people have brought up is with Gym TMs. A lot of Gym TMs are quite popular moves like Flamethrower and Ice Beam. This is a bit of a problem, since many Pokemon rely on these moves for type coverages and few replacements are available in game. To remedy this, the old Gym TMs will be available normally in game and brand new moves will be taking their place! Let me introduce you to a couple moves:

False Start: The signature move of the Dark Gym. It is, effectively, a Dark type version of the move First Impression. Use it to get an immediate headstart on your opponent! Be careful, though, you can only use it the moment your Pokemon is sent out.

Tornado: The Flying Gym's signature move. This storm destroys more than the opponent's health! Any hazards, traps, and even terrain is shredded by the howling storm.

Rolling Thunder: The Electric Gym's signature move summons a thunderstorm to trap the foe! While it is active, the opponent takes damage over type. That's not all, however! Any Electric type moves used are boosted in the storm!

These are a few of the moves you will have access to as a Gym Leader. Just like before, any Pokemon that can learn these moves can be used in your Gym, so keep them in mind as you plan your team!

As for new Pokemon, I have a few new additions I would like to share with you all!

View attachment 21869
Astrovine: Normal/Psychic

This is an evolution that Miltank undergoes upon being exposed to a certain extraterrestrial Pokemon...
Normal was one of the types I was looking to buff in this update. Many of the choices you had were either underwhelming or were very similar to one another. Outside of Drampa, Staraptor, or Wigglytuff, Normal had little type coverage and struggled in the late game after an underwhelming early game. As such, Astrovine was added to give additional support to the type, meaning their are now 3 Normal type Pokemon that are neutral to Fighting without any of them having overlapping weaknesses. For Normal type players, this should aid in teambuilding, significantly. It also helps with the overall power of Normal teams, since many Normal Pokemon in the game had... underwhelming stats, to say the least.

View attachment 21870
Drapion: Poison/Water

This Drapion, based on a water scorpion, is mainly here to give more options for Water and Poison Gyms. If you are a fan of Drapion, or if you want a bulky Pokemon with a tanky typing, Drapion is a solid choice.

With the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, we are introduced to the concept of Convergent Pokemon, a new regional variant of Pokemon. Two Convergent Pokemon are planned for Pokemon This Gym of Mine, mainly to aid some weaker types. Without giving away too much, A Grass/Rock type and Fire/Electric type are both planned and are in development!

View attachment 21878
Jabbamence: Dragon/Psychic
A variant for Salamence based of the Jabberwock from Alice in Wonderland. I'll be honest. I'm not sure why I added this Pokemon in. Dragon is already a very powerful type and Dragon does not add much to Psychic outside of massive stats. Maybe something will come to me, I'm not sure.

In addition, some changes have been made to existing Pokemon, or Pokemon I have teased before:
Early Normal types and Bug types have had their stats slightly buffed. Pokemon like Sentret and Beedrill have been given a slight boost to help them stay relevant in the late game. It isn't anything major, but it is enough that they can still hold their own without having to give them major team support.

Yes, Sandile is finally available to be captured. Trust me, I checked as I was typing this out. In addition, Durant and Skarmory will be made available to help out the Bug and Flying Gyms respectively. Speaking of the Bug Gym, Araquanid and Golisopod can be found in game, further fleshing out the originally weak typing.

View attachment 21871
So, in further researching potential new Pokemon for TGOM, I came across some information that has been bothering me. Apparently, the imagery I had based Wendigar off of were not based on the wendigo, like I thought, but were actually based on the wechuge, a Canadian monster that, while similar to the wendigo, is its own distinct entity... While this likely bothers nobody except myself, I have elected to rename Wendigar into Wechugar. Otherwise, it is just as good of a Pokemon as it was in version 4.2.3.

A while back, I teased an evolution for Lopunny called Punkeary, a Normal/Dark evolution for the line. Normally, I do not tease anything that isn't set in stone, but looking into Lopunny further, I had been leaning away from its current evolution. For one, it is quite similar in origin and typing to Obstagoon, which will be appearing in v5.0.0. In addition, Lopunny's moveset got me thinking of a different path I could take it, one that could give it more of an identity and a place in game...
View attachment 21872
Mageary: Normal/Fairy
Meet the rabbit the magician pulled from their hat and made their assistant! Mageary can be seen on the streets of Opulance City entrancing kids and adults alike, while subtly stealing whatever it can from their pockets and bags. Mageary can be a support Pokemon or a solid Special Attacker. Since the Normal Gym tends to lack both type coverage and stats, Mageary acts as an alternate Fairy for people who may find Wigglytuff underwhelming. It still has a new ability that ignores negative item effects, so it still has that utility for players who were excited for that!
Hopefully, you all enjoy this new evolution. While I was happy with Punkeary, I feel Mageary just fits what Lopunny was trying to be a bit better while helping it feel unique compared to other Pokemon available in Pokemon This Gym of Mine.

I'm so sorry Aggron fans... The thing is just too strong. I tried to nerf it by replacing Shift Gear with Dragon Dance, but it is still far too strong. This Pokemon can easily carry most Gyms that can access it with very little risk. As such, Dragon Dance and Shift Gear are being removed from its natural learnset... However, it can still learn Shift Gear via breeding! It will be a bit hard to do, since it is such a powerful option for it, but it will be available for players who are willing to go the extra mile for it. Despite that, Umbal Aggron is still an absolutely powerful Pokemon. Also, some changes are being planned to help make its sprite more distinct compared to Aggron, so stay tuned!

Hopefully, these changes will help with the game's balance and player's experience.

In addition to changes to Pokemon, every area in Pokemon This Gym of Mine is being redone in a new tileset! Take a look:
View attachment 21874
Some areas are being overhauled entirely, such as Cold Steel Cave:
View attachment 21875View attachment 21876
These areas were made using tilesets made by Magiscarf, Kyle_Dove, and SailorVicious. The credits will be updated when version 5.0.0 is available to the public. Speaking of credits, the multiple save file plugin made by http404error will be implemented, as well as KRLW890's Improved AI. These two plugins should help with two other issues players have had by making the game much more friendly towards multiple playthroughs and making the AI less... confusing.

There is still a metric ton planned for the final release! I hope you are all as excited for what's to come as I am to share it with you all! Originally, I had planned to release v5.0.0 around late fall, early winter. However, I'm not sure if that would be as possible as I thought... So, I plan to release a demo for v5.0.0 around that time! Since it is a massive overhaul of the game, I'd like to give a taste of what's to come before the game is fully ready, to see what people have to say. Until then, I will be hard at work making this update the best it can be!

Hope you all have a nice day!
Hey wait a minute that's me in that bottom list!!! Man I can't believe it's been more than a year since I did the secret. Well I know I've already started my second playthrough but never finished it, but it's time to jump back into round two in Pokemon This Gym of Mine. Went for steel the first time now I'm doing fighting!

My battle background in caves are, black. Pure blank black. Is it suppose to be like this? I played for some time just never bothered to go into any caves other than the first time but i thought it was some bug and shook it off. But, now i realized its, just black. Ill attach an image as a reference to visualize what currently going on. This is a new save I made since I thought it was a bug, now I lost my Galvantula, and the issue still persist. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm having issues with getting to Level 100. As soon as I try, it crashes. I've seen posts with similar problems. But I can't find any solutions for it. I looked through Pages after, but there were more than a hundred of them between them and the end.

I am new to the game and I am enjoying it very much but I do think it a way to bulk donate to the item bank would be a useful thing if people are trying to increase their reputation rank early in the game

NOTICE:
I am aware of a ROM hack version of this game is circulating around. This is NOT that. This version requires no emulator to play and is exclusively for PC. To play, just download the ZIP file from one of the links below. Extract the file and run the game file. I have no affiliation with any of the ROM hack versions of this game.

As for the information relating to v5.0.0, I have run into a major snag in development. To recap, I have been attempting to update this game to Pokemon Essentials v20.1. I knew this would be a bit risky, as Pokemon This Gym of Mine runs on Pokemon Essentials v18.1. And, lo and behold, I ran into an issue. When attempting to load my save, it threw an error after compiling and proceeded to delete my save file... I attempted to run the 20.1 version as a brand new game and it did not throw an error, meaning the issue comes when it tries to load the save.

I know I said that if previous saves were incompatible that I would continue on with version 18.1. However, there are still a number of reasons that I want to update to v20.1 Essentials. So, I decided to ask you guys how I should proceed. At the end of the day, you guys will have to play the game and wait for the update. As such, I want to hear your thoughts. How I see it, there are three ways I can go forward:

1. I can stay with v18.1.
This will require no additional dev time, but glitches such as the weather glitches and level-up glitches will, likely, be permanent issues in the game. In addition, I will lose out on the updated encounter capabilities of v20.1, meaning that any new Pokemon will be limited to newly added areas, and the new Pokemon I add will be limited. In addition, this may cause some Pokemon to be unnecessarily rare, as I cannot directly alter encounter rates in-document.

2. I commit to updating to v20.1, keeping up an updated version of PTGOM 4.0 as a legacy version.
This will require more dev time, but this will deal with glitches such as the weather glitch and the level-up glitch. In addition, this will allow for more robust encounters, potentially balancing out types such as Bug and Steel, which have been reported to be a bit underpowered. Also, I can look into allowing for multiple save files, as doing multiple playthroughs is quite popular in the community so this will make that easier. However, this does mean that this version will NOT be compatible with old save files.

3. I use this as an opportunity to completely overhaul Pokemon This Gym of Mine.
Let's face facts. This game was made 3 years ago, in a rush, and by an amateur game dev. There are a lot of things I had to bandage over just to make the game playable. Even with all the updates, there are still plenty of holes, such as the crazy amount of revenue buildings can generate, the point of reputation and reputation growth not being made clear, some dialogue needing a bit of refinement, and the fact that half of the game's ranks go by over the span of a minute. I could treat this as a chance to truly refine this game. Rebalancing encounters and buildings, giving a reason for ranks 5-7 to exist, amongst other things. In addition, I could look into plugins and resources, such as multiple save files, that could only be added to v20.1. Personally, this would be the route I like to go, but it would add quite a bit of dev time and would not be compatible with old save files. Just like with option 2, the old version of PTGOM will be kept up as a legacy version.

These are the three routes I feel I can go. No matter what, version 5.0.0 content will be included with the update and version 6.0.0 will come some time after. I want to see what you all think, and I am eager to hear your thoughts.

It's random chance that goes into deciding who you face at the Gym. Also, some early-game Trainers get stronger if you leave them be. You can only fight each Trainer once, so make it count!
Finally, there is no barrier between areas. You can access areas containing Pokemon five times your strength straight out the gate!

Fun, though definitely needs more options. I ran water type, and was excited when I got access to the ice area thinking finally I could bring Lapras the pokemon I desperately wanted onto the team, only for Nessie to be nowhere in the game. Also, it would be nice to have the variants in the game be optional, it's nice that you have alternate forms, but I personally found the regional variant of Lanturn to be less useful than the original. I understand it may not be worth the hassle but it would be nice if the game was expanded to have more options for the time you pick, especially because for Water types respectively there are only a handful of pokemon who learn Scald by TM and of those only about 10 of them are non-water type pokemon, which means if you maybe wanted to run a Goodra, Politoad, Kingdra, and Lanturn rain team like I initially hoped to do you really can't.

As is the game has massive potential, I'd just suggest adding new pokemon to give us more variety in our monotype teams, that way there's also way more replayability.

Hello, I discovered TGOM a while back and finally got around to playing it last week. I just finished my first run (Steel: Ferossed, Metagross, Smeltix, Umbal Aggron, Aegislash, and Empoleon). On the whole, it was a very nice experience and I want to give some feedback both good and bad. I’m sure that most of it has been said by others but maybe I’ll hit on a point that others didn’t mention.

First the bad:
-The biggest thing for me is the fact that the starters (the ones in this game) are only available as starters and not elsewhere in the game. I couldn’t include Scyzor in my Steel team. And I gave up on my Bug run because right at the start I needed to choose between Larvesta and Scyther, Galvantula is locked among the Electric gym starters. And if I want to make a Flying Gym I can forget about Aerodactyle, Drifblim, or Togekiss.

Still on the starter why Eevee as a Normal starter? It doesn’t remain Normlay type. I mean yes you can have non-normal type in your team but as your Starter it’s just weird.

My suggestion would be to make the starters available for everyone, maybe behind quests. Or only include monotype starters.

-The encounter rate is a little high, I can’t make two steps without encountering a wild Pokemon. And because they’re always close to the level of our Pokemon it may be hard to one-shot them in some cases.

-Money management is weird, in the beginning, I didn’t have enough to buy both Pokeballs and potions. In the middle, I was forced to invest all my money in building so I didn’t have enough for TM. And in the end, I had far too much.

-I couldn’t find anywhere I could see my current reputation and the threshold for the next rank. Did I miss it or is it on purpose? In the same vein is the Tyranitar trainer a trap? I beat him easily (twice) because I got a ghost and he only got Normal type attacks so I gained 2000 points of reputation in total. This made me jump by two or three ranks in a row, which means I was destroyed by the Champion's first Pokemon because I was under-leveled for my rank.
Edit: In my second run I've just discovered that we can see the reputation with the Pokegear, so that's my bad. Sorry.

-Some strategic items are missing. In my case, it was mainly the Rocky Helmet for my Ferroseed.

-While I lack the fact that you include the official starters, including ones with unique moves, the choice of those moves left me confused. Half of them are recoil moves, which I don’t like but that’s personal taste. You gave Special moves to the Physical attacker (fire blast on Grookey?). Again it may just be my lack of skill in strategy but I don’t understand.

-The last bad thing is the potions that the opposing trainers got. It’s a pain unless you one-shot them they heal in full every turn. (But maybe it’s just because I’m not a great strategic player).

Now for the Good.
-The Fakemon are great. A lot of choices with cool designs and nice type combos.

-The new moves are very nice too, they provide some good options to replace the exclusive Gym TM.

-Thank you for the ability capsules, the patches, and the mint. It means that I can just catch the first Pokemon of the species I want instead of searching for the one with the perfect nature and ability.

-I like the side-quests. It breaks the rhythm nicely.

-Leveling up is relatively easy both with the Blissey trainer, the high level of the wild Pokemon, and the possibility to rebuttal some trainers.

-The Starter Park was a good idea, the possibility of having multiple starters from different generations is appreciated.

And there you go that’s all I had to say. Thanks again for your work. I’m going to play again. Maybe an Electric or Grass gym.

Hello, everyone! So sorry for the silence. Between the update, finals, and the holiday season, I've been fairly busy. The demo is still progressing well and I plan to have it out before the year's end! In the meantime, I've been at work fine tuning the game's systems, dealing with bugs and giving them a bit more consistency. In addition, I have plenty of new things to show off for the game! Now then, let's get started!

Gameplay and System Changes
A number of refinements have been made to the game's systems to help improve their functionality!

Buildings have been completely revamped! Instead of the complex equation they used to use, each building, instead, gives a set amount of revenue. While some do give more than others, there are bonuses that you can obtain from balancing all three. This way, each building is important to your revenue.

The Gym systems have also received a massive overhaul. The team check system is now much more accurate and consistent. It should have no issues with dual-typed Pokemon or Pokemon that evolve into your Gym's type like in previous versions. In addition, two new systems have been added:

You can now toggle your Gym Puzzle!
Screenshot 2023-12-12 161105.png
Screenshot 2023-12-12 161138.png

You have 3 different puzzles you can toggle between. Whichever one you pick, it will affect the odds of certain Trainers appearing.
Trainers are now divided into 3 types, Smart, Strong, and Item Heavy. Each room boosts the odds of one and lowers the odds of another. Tired of Potion spamming Youngsters? Pick the Course Gym Puzzle, but be wary of Smart Trainers.
These types indicate how the Trainer fights:
Smart - Makes use of various strategies, tends to have Hidden Abilities and Egg Moves
Strong - Often overleveled and focuses on high power moves
Item Heavy - Carry more items than usual, tend to have X items and other such items.

That isn't all! In addition to Reputation, you now have Notoriety!
Screenshot 2023-12-12 160729.png

If you manage to get a Win Streak, your Notoriety will increase! High Notoriety will help increase your Reputation and give you more Revenue! However, stronger Trainers are more likely to appear with a high Notoriety, with some Trainers only appearing when it is high enough! Be wary as your Win Streak grows!

As you can see from these screenshots, v5.0.0 will be making use of the Gen 4 OW Collection and a pre-made Tileset. As I said before, credits will be updated when the demo releases.

As I mentioned before, the Gym's team checking system has been revamped. One major change was the starters. Certain starters, like Eevee and Onix, lose their Gym's type upon evolving. This meant that you had to either avoid evolving them or use the Gym TM, which might be a sub-par move for their respective playstyle. As such, Starters are now exempt from the Gym's type checking process. Evolve your Eevee as you please. Go for Steelix if you like! You will be able to use them in your Gym regardless. Keep in mind, this is specifically for the Starter Pokemon. This does not affect any Eevee or Onix obtained by any other means. Despite this, Eevee and Onix still have improved stats so players can still make use of them, if they wish to use them on a monotype run.

New Moves, Abilities, and Pokemon

One thing I wanted to add was more strategies for monotype teams. I thought of many other effects and abilities, like rain and sun, and decided to implement something like this for types that lack anything like it. So, allow me to introduce to you:

Atmosphere!
Screenshot 2023-12-12 162208.png
Screenshot 2023-12-12 162225.png

Atmosphere improves the power of a certain type of Pokemon. In addition, they impose an effect on the field that either empowers or depowers certain types. The Freeing Atmosphere, shown above, allows Normal, Flying, and Water type Pokemon to use two-turn attacks without charging! There is also a Serene Atmosphere, which lowers the Speed of any Pokemon that isn't Grass, Psychic, or Ice! You can use certain moves or even abilities to set these effects, such as with a new Pokemon: Stover!
STOVER.png

This moss-covered Rock is a convergent form of Snover! Where as that Pokemon sets Hail, Stover calls for a Serene Atmosphere! If you have a team that's a bit on the slower side, look into this little guy!

Atmosphere has a ton of uses, and this isn't even going into the moves and abilities that play off of them. When the demo drops, I hope you all have fun experimenting with this new field effect!

Finally, a number of Pokemon have been given access to the new abilities made for this game, such as Hoppip gaining the Wind Tunnel ability!

Miscellaneous

This is not all that has been added to Pokemon This Gym of Mine! One issue with the game is that there isn't much else to do, outside of the main portion of the game. After all, Gym Leaders deserve a break, right? Stop by the local game store and play some rounds of Triple Triad! You might even find some special rare cards!
Screenshot 2023-12-12 161736.png
Screenshot 2023-12-12 161820.png

Card games not your style? How about the Arcade? Play games, earn points, and trade them for nice items! You can even try your hand at Miner, which can net you some great items, with a bit of luck. Find a plate and earn a TR of the same type!
Screenshot 2023-12-12 161950.png

Maybe you want to watch the TV? Oh, looks like a commercial is on... Catch them live to purchase the items they have for sale! Sometimes it has Trainer items, novelty items, or items for older Pokemon. You won't know until you tune in! Some items are only sold by them, so pay close attention!
Screenshot 2023-12-12 160936.png
Screenshot 2023-12-12 161025.png

Finally, have you wished to learn more about your Gym Trainers? Well, now you can! When recruiting a new Gym Trainer, you get their PokeGear number! Call in and see what's on their mind.

Also pictured is the new sprite for Mayor Dalton!

I hope you've enjoyed the final sneak peek before the demo. Honestly, it's becoming harder and harder to call this game an update. It's starting to feel more like a remake. I've added so much to this game, and I'm far from done with everything I have left in store, but that can wait until it's done. As I have said, the demo for Pokemon This Gym of Mine v5.0.0 will be made available later this month. Play as much as you like, all data will be transferable to the full release, so don't worry about lost progress. Overall, I am incredibly excited to release this to you all, but I must hold off until it is as good as it can possibly be! You have all been very encouraging with your praise of the previous versions, and I can't be thankful enough.

Until then, I hope you all have a nice day, and, whether you celebrate the holidays or not, I hope the season is wonderful for you all!

This game is sick! I love it and have been playing it for a few hours. I decided to be a Dark-type Gym Leader and had to hunt a bit to get my party to three. I have a Houndour as my starter and a Zorua and Noivern for back up. The Noivern wasn't easy to find but the hunt to find it was fun. Also the mystery gift help, I will not spoil the fun about what it is but I used that gift to fight trainers to raise money to buy pokeballs (since a Steelix ate all my pokeballs, trying to catch it. So far I must say it is impressive and I love Pokemon This Gym of Mine. I am recording the game as I play it and thinking of putting it on my channel as a let's play. I hope you do well and are chosen as a Jam spotlight this year. You have my vote. First Pokemon game I ever played as a Gym Leader instead of a Pokemon Trainer and that is dope!
How do you got a mystery gift?

Sounds like 5.0.0 is a huge overhaul of many stuff and it's just really nice to see games get more creative with their concepts. I honestly would love more Gym customization that's personal for each type gym, but I figured that would be a lil too much to add.
