The Story
Tsf759c.png

The story of Pokémon Bushido revolves around you, the child of the Royal Samurai.
After training under Sensei Sukiro for years, the time has come for you to get a Pokemon and become an official Kenshi.
However, upon attending the Kenshi Initiation Tournament, you experience an unexpected turn of events, causing your journey to take you throughout the major villages of the Aisho Region! You will challenge all the various clans and earn merit for yourself while stopping the Akui Clan in their tracks. As you travel the region, you will meet new friends, and enemies, who will shape your adventure.

Required Graphics Used:
Graphic 1: Jams
The 'jam' graphic was used to replace Potions in the game.
Instead of Potions, players use Healing Jams to heal their Pokemon.
Graphic 2: Letter
The 'letter' graphic was used at the beginning of the game when Sensei Sukiro gives you a letter to take to the Shogun.
Graphic 3: Leaves
The 'leaves' graphic was used in Tsuchi Village, Hanatsu Village, and Izumi Village.
In order to gain access to a dojo, players must first find the 5 leaves of each city.

I mean, i see your point about all that effort but like, is it that hard to implement every pokemon and every mega? I don't know much about designing fangames but like, idk why it would take so long to implement them all. I hope there is at least one game with gen 8 mons and megas in one game even if not all mons are in. I just was so infuriated with gamefreak's decision, and they of course get away with it and the community is again divided because some people will always agree with their point of view.

I understand that having all 898 in isn't a priority but, it shouldn't take that long to put them all in should it?
Why should a fan developer waste monumental amounts of time putting all the Pokémon in there, as well as megas? Not everyone likes megas, and not everyone likes all the Pokémon. With that many in encounters the game will feel too saturated. The point of our game was to deliver a fun and engaging story, and we included an amount of Pokémon that were effective to that end. Expecting every game to just be "game with every obtainable Pokémon" is unrealistic and those that go that route tend to be lacking in all other departments due to it, hence why I usually avoid those personally. Regarding Gamefreak's decision, no Pokémon game has had 100% availability, their issue was not allowing you to trade in ones the game lacked. But holding a team of four people that had a month to the same standards of a multi-billion dollar, fully staffed company is a little ridiculous.

TLDR: It's a lot of work, especially in terms of balancing, and in my opinion, games like that are too boring.

1. Open the file in the Game folder called mkxp.json.

2. Remove the // before openGL4 and set it to false. You should be able to run the game now!
I tried that and it didn't work. Maybe i did something wrong. It's already set to false too btw.

I dunno if this will get answered but what are the shiny odds in this game?

First of all, look at my boys having made this amazing game! Amazing job! I really had a great time playing this and am excited to see where this goes in the future! I recorded my entire playthrough on youtube. It was a bit on the challenging side, but that's totally fine for a game with a playtime as long as this one! The challenge definitely wasn't a bother and actually got me excited when I finally did beat the challenging battles (looking at you @Tristantine The Great )

Anyways, I did write down notes while playing and I'll be sharing these notes down at the bottom in a spoiler tag.

First off, I really liked the unique setting of the game. If it wasn't for Legends being revealed this would've been the most unique looking pokémon game so that was very unfortunate timing. The story was amazing, I always wanted to keep playing to see what would happen next. And even though it was kind of a gym challenge kind of game, you did do a fantastic job of changing it up just enough so it's its own thing.

The leaves challenge was very cool to see as it added more to just the standard 'prove your worth through battle'. The art and music was also very good and helped a lot with the setting and aesthetic! Changing up the battle backgrounds also really added to that and was a very good call!

I do want to note on the shadow Pokémon kind of theme, but it was more like a little gimmick for the Akui clan their teams. I never really felt like I should use the shadow pokémon as there were always better alternatives (or even wild versions of them available). But glad to see the Shadow Pokémon stuff used none the less!

The cast of the game was very well written and I liked just about all of the characters introduced in the game! I do feel like the player doesn't really know anything about the Shogun other than that he's the Shogun but that's alright, not everything has to be explained in a game like this, especially for a jam game. Personally I didn't really like how affectionate Tsuku was towards me, but I guess that's just me. I know that a lot of other people in the community like Tsuku as a character so I won't note too much about that.

Ok now onto the notes I wrote:

Chapter 1:

Question in the start battle about the shizumi clan, expects the player to have already memorized the clan names. (I do want to note, I still don't know all the clan names, but that could just be me)
The changes in music style and soundfont is too sudden between areas. (Note again, they don't bother me as much anymore as they used to)
Whenever selecting the tm bag menu it changes from a disc to a scroll.
Opponent in hyper mode? (Note, in Pokémon Colosseum and XD opponents don't go into hyper mode)
Level scaling? Pretty hard. (Note again, I realized there was no level scaling, just the game is pretty challenging in the first half)
Carracosta blocking path with a rock smash rock right after it? (Note, this was probably done because you could get rock smash before you should go there)
Odd that the leaders don't stop the akui clan when they invade the tournament, aren't they like gym leader level strong?
Talk to the clan leader, the shogun tells me. But she's right there in the room with us?

Chapter 2:

Following Pokemon give apricorns?
Kenshi in the next village mentions TMs.
Tsuku told to meet at the shrine but she wasn't there? (Note, I was just confused with what she actually meant)
Pixel Density of the flowers on the grass tiles bother me a lot.

Chapter 3:

Shaking grass on top of trainers. (Note, probably something you guys don't really have to fix)
Katana of light lets me select from the bag, but then have to select again in field.
Katana of light healing does not recharge? (Note, I didn't know they only recharge at shrines)
Earth Power on shadow gliscor? (Note, I didn't realize until now that all shadow Pokémon don't keep their typing but are just pure shadow type)
Akame in Hanatsu Mine talks about leaving but isnt there? (Note, I don't know either)
Escape Rope didn't get used up, infinite uses?

Chapter 4:

Wandering girl in hanatsu village blocking southern exit.
Kaiyo sea can see edge of the world.
ba8517e8637daffc5771a69c4a98a8c6.png

Brick Break is bubble? (Note, the animation I'm talking about)
Kuro knocking you out, later waking up at the same spot seems like it did absolutely nothing, especially considering the girl is still hiding behind the rock while you were unconsious.
Kuro mentions the cruelty of keeping pokemon in a pokeball, then uses a pokeball to summon salemance to fly away, such a hypocrite.
Tile puzzles felt more like a task than a puzzle, perhaps have them more spread out throughout the game instead of having them all in one area, right after eachother. (Note, it really did take away from the pacing in my opinion)
Kuro is the Hound of Hypocracy. He's using pokeballs. (Note, I was salty ok)
After beating kuro, the girl saves me and brings me outside, screen is offset by 1 down.
Team doesnt get healed after battle with kuro before battle with cobalion.

Chapter 5:

Water bubble encounters outside of reach. (Note, water bubbles spawn outside of bounds, not something you guys should have to bother with fixing)
2nd and 3rd akui clan member on yami pass jump down but face wrong way. (Note, all of them that don't face down do this)
Shadow lowkey toxtricity using shift gear, a move unique to the other form.
Canceling the selection from sukiro automatically enters shop mode.
Dragon Dance is in the top left corner instead of on the pokemon. (Note, some other moves do this as well, didn't write them down though)
Getting way too lucky catching akui shadow pokemon? Statusing a shadow pokemon makes it almost a guaranteed catch. (This stayed true for almost every single battle, perhaps a bug with essentials)
Shadow Pokémon lose their typing and are just pure shadow type. (Note, what I noted before at chapter 3)
Reunion with father is a bit underwhelming. 'hey I think it's your father.' (Note, yeah tf)
Cells have a weird pixel density consitancy.
Lore wise the katana made it able for me to catch shadow pokemon, yet I'm able to catch shadow Corviknight without the katana.
"A key to jail cells underneath the Akui Dojo." (Note, this just sounded weird to me, idk what's wrong though)
Froze me while in phantom force. (Note, the mid battle dialogue effects just bypass the battle state)
Tranq kunai in misty terrain? During 3rd admin battle in yami island. (Note, the Tranq kunai just didn't proc because he already put up a misty terrain)
Mother exposition makes it seem like I am supposed to have sympathy for her, yet I just met her so it's kind of random. (Note, it came out of nowhere so I kind of didn't really care)

Chapter 6:

Yami Island and stuff doesn't appear on map. (Note, I didn't consider that it probably has to do with jam time)
Cherubi makes mightyena noises. (Note, episode 420 of the anime)
Jump down roof Hagane City same as for Yami Pass. (Note, check previous note from chapter 5 yeah)
No music and screen offset after tag team battle with Tsuku.
The shadow lugia stuff katana shit. (Note, I meant that it says the katana is reacting to it but it was uncatchable)

Postgame:
Katana shit same with Akame her Darmanitan. (Note, check previous note)
Useless rock smash rock in sakura cave. (Note, yeah tf)
Lux pixel density error with shine on his katana.
Tile passability error near daycare. (Note, can't find this back in my video, perhaps I found this during the egg pause)
Dream ball is park ball in summary.
Beat tristan last but he told me his friends want to battle too?

Also a final note, the eggs and egg cracks are 2x pixel density, making them huge.

Yet again, amazing game! I would love to see what's next! I'm gonna start streaming bushido soon because I wan't to complete the pokedex!

Thanks for making this game guys!
Thundaga, stay awesome man! Amazing work!
Diablo, amazing story great work!
Tristantyne, amazing art love it!
Haunted, I'm still a huge fan of your art!!! Stay great man!
