2022 Update FAQ:
What's new?
- Well, the big thing is that there's a postgame now. There's uh...not a lot I could do with it, admittedly, since the game's world is kind of destroyed by the end of the main game. I did my best to create new content without having to make a ton of new areas.
- There's a properly organised Pokédex now. Speaking of, there's like, 8 new Pokémon lines. They're all really cool, Mak did great on their designs. There's also a couple of new evolutions of existing mons.
- The dex is now a grand total of 124 Pokémon. You can see more info about them by copying the link to the spreadsheet in the "_Credits" file of the main folder.
- A lot of sprites have been redone, such as Pistoff, Pillost, Eggception, Spectreon and many more have either received touch ups or full resprites.
- The same applies to backsprites, a lot of work went into them to make them all consistent.

Can I use my old save?
- Due to all the changes made, not only by the engine but by my optimisations, old save files would probably break somewhere, so it isn't recommended.
- It's also a 5 year old game, so playing through and refreshing your memory could be cool...

Is the game harder?
- I've tried my best to rebalance the game to make the experience as smooth as possible, and will continue trying to do so unless the general opinion tells me otherwise.
- I've rebalanced a lot of Edgemon stats and movesets, so the experience may not be exactly what it was 5 years ago.
- Early game has and probably been the hardest to balance. There's not really enough time to give players specific counters early on, but you can probably brute force it a lot with Mankey and Gorelett? If you didn't start with Riolu anyway.
- I haven't tested specific team comps so it's all a little subjective, but I look forward to hearing feedback!

Is there any new features?

- Well, there's no haunted mansion DLC, but there is a battle tower-esque building in its place I've dubbed the Belltower. Test your wits against tough opponents for a chance to win fabulous prizes! (Postgame only)
- A couple of new moves exist, like a Fury Swipes clone that's flying type, or a signature move that fires a button. I hope you'll try out all sorts of team members in the Belltower to see what's new!
- Speaking of trying out team members, there's a gauntlet at the end of the game, for those daring enough to try. Once postgame is complete, take a trip to the Blood Lake...

Where is (x)?
- Move Relearner is in Blackheart City Game Corner (regardless of time period).
- Silvally discs are also sold in the Game Corner.
- Stone vendors are in Eerie City in postgame.
- Once postgame is complete, you can get Rare Candies infinitely at the Belltower.

Unbalanced audio is definitely an issue. I usually either listened on low volume or speakers so I didn't find it troublesome, but there have been complaints of it.

Fang's surviving mons acting up is not an intended thing. Oops. I'll try to get that fixed as soon as I can.

Pistoff can be smuggled past the guards through a variety of ways, all of which require a sort of abuse of the game mechanics. His usefulness is definitely limited. I mean, it has a guaranteed OHKO, we can't let that just run amok, frankly.

Killing having no consequences is part of the joke. Having murder be the most rewarding choice makes the MC a more blatant hypocrite.

The multiple Fang bug is present in multiple areas due to a bunch of event changes we did late in development. We fixed a few but didn't get them all before the deadline.

The Eevee thing is because of how we handled the event, we didn't really account for eggs. We may end up overhauling later on.

well you seem to have got the Fang copies taken care of, as it only happened that one time, i also forgot another bug that i think needs attention...

Bro/Hate's Sprites only appear at the final battle and at the bar before Eerie City (Future) until then you still have Fang's Sprites, thought you should know.

ok, i finished Edge Rising, and here are my likes and dislikes about the game before i give my final rating.

Unbalanced Audio - i cannot tell you how common i see this issue, like none of the music is adjusted for volume and it is stuck in as is, this i cannot accept as excuseable, even in a project with a short deadline, it would only take a few mins to calibrate the audio so nobody suffers, especially headphone users like myself.... ouch! >_<

Hi. As the person who handled a huge part of the writing and eventing for this game, as well as all of the writing and eventing for another game (with the same deadline) while trying to manage a job, I'm afraid that a few minutes quite literally made a difference in my ability to meet the deadline for the Game Jam. Nonetheless, I do apologize for not handling this part of the game better.

I went through events many, many times to make sure they'd work correctly under any circumstance, but some of those events seemed to have begun having issues once trainer battles started getting added to them. If I had the time, I would have went back and checked them all again to make sure there weren't any major errors like duplicates of Fang's sprite appearing in the overworld. Unfortunately, because of this, there are a few areas that lack polish still.

As for the sound and music balancing - while some of it was played for laughs, none of us four played the game using headphones, so none of us ended up catching the major balancing issues to begin with. It wasn't until people started doing playthroughs that we noticed. I'm not going to be working on this game too much more for a while, so unfortunately, that is going to be up to my teammates to take care of.

Still, thank you very much for playing our game, and I appreciate your feedback.

i'm sorry if i sound unappreciative of your work, it's just a pet peeve of RPG Maker for me when Audio spikes like that, and i had no idea you were working two games at once, that's a serious load on one's plate with the short deadline.

It's all good. A flaw is a flaw, after all. I appreciate you taking the time to point them out for us.

Updated the link with the newest patch, fixing a lot of the previously mentioned bugs plus a few other minor things.

Couldn't find the bug you mentioned where Fang was in the future, though. I playtested through the Bar event and everything worked as normal. The time traveling didn't affect it either.

odd, i know what i saw and
Fang's Sprite remained up to the point that i was in the void with Red. perhaps i triggered said bug by dying with only my original starter in my party.

I wouldn't think so. In playtesting I started a new game and died with only one Pokemon in my party. But it still worked. I don't think it being the starter would make a difference.
Since I don't know what the cause is, or what triggers it, I've left it in for now.

fair enough, it COULD HAVE been a one-time thing, and even if it wasnt you cant fix it without knowing the cause, so i understand.

Hello, so I just played through most of Pokemon Edge Rising, and it was a fantastic experience. I laughed and near the end I may have shed a tear or two.

Anyways, the real reason I'm here is due to the fact that I still got the same issue that some people described before in the thread. Even with the new version downloaded, I still can't fight Red in the void. It goes straight from him starting the fight to him killing Hate. I love the game and all, but I'm not willing to replay the entire game again to get back the amount of time I put into playing. Is there any way I could get a save file for the fight at Red

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Aeon

P.S.
Also, sorry about the formatting. I'm new to forum sites.

That's the issue though. I am on the new version and it still doesn't let me fight Red. I'm not quite sure what happened to make this issue come about, but I appreciate any help.

How exactly do I get this game to run? Do I need a special emulator? I've tried all of mine, but none seem to recognize the file.

Game.exe should run on its own. What exactly is happening when you try to start it? Do you have any screenshots or errors?
The game.exe file doesn't show up in any of my emulators, and trying to do it directly from files says everything associated with this action have been turned off, blocked, blocked, or are not installed. Trying to use the .zip file says that it's unrecognizable. Then again this is on mobile. Let me try PC.

This is not an emulated game. You should only be able to play it on the PC. Sorry about that!

I just downloaded this game, and while all the sound effects are working, none of the music will play. I haven't altered any settings, it just straight up won't play.

I'm not quite sure what the issue is. If the audio folder is in the game files, than I think the issue lies more in the game engine than the game itself. Neither I nor the rest of the team know much about the guts of the engine, so we're not sure what may be causing the issue.

...Hopefully you can get it fixed, though.
