2022 Update FAQ:
What's new?
- Well, the big thing is that there's a postgame now. There's uh...not a lot I could do with it, admittedly, since the game's world is kind of destroyed by the end of the main game. I did my best to create new content without having to make a ton of new areas.
- There's a properly organised Pokédex now. Speaking of, there's like, 8 new Pokémon lines. They're all really cool, Mak did great on their designs. There's also a couple of new evolutions of existing mons.
- The dex is now a grand total of 124 Pokémon. You can see more info about them by copying the link to the spreadsheet in the "_Credits" file of the main folder.
- A lot of sprites have been redone, such as Pistoff, Pillost, Eggception, Spectreon and many more have either received touch ups or full resprites.
- The same applies to backsprites, a lot of work went into them to make them all consistent.

Can I use my old save?
- Due to all the changes made, not only by the engine but by my optimisations, old save files would probably break somewhere, so it isn't recommended.
- It's also a 5 year old game, so playing through and refreshing your memory could be cool...

Is the game harder?
- I've tried my best to rebalance the game to make the experience as smooth as possible, and will continue trying to do so unless the general opinion tells me otherwise.
- I've rebalanced a lot of Edgemon stats and movesets, so the experience may not be exactly what it was 5 years ago.
- Early game has and probably been the hardest to balance. There's not really enough time to give players specific counters early on, but you can probably brute force it a lot with Mankey and Gorelett? If you didn't start with Riolu anyway.
- I haven't tested specific team comps so it's all a little subjective, but I look forward to hearing feedback!

Is there any new features?

- Well, there's no haunted mansion DLC, but there is a battle tower-esque building in its place I've dubbed the Belltower. Test your wits against tough opponents for a chance to win fabulous prizes! (Postgame only)
- A couple of new moves exist, like a Fury Swipes clone that's flying type, or a signature move that fires a button. I hope you'll try out all sorts of team members in the Belltower to see what's new!
- Speaking of trying out team members, there's a gauntlet at the end of the game, for those daring enough to try. Once postgame is complete, take a trip to the Blood Lake...

Where is (x)?
- Move Relearner is in Blackheart City Game Corner (regardless of time period).
- Silvally discs are also sold in the Game Corner.
- Stone vendors are in Eerie City in postgame.
- Once postgame is complete, you can get Rare Candies infinitely at the Belltower.

The game is cool but it is just a bit too unbalanced especially the Sharpedo boss with Recover, Cosmic Power, Counter and Mirror Coat. To add injury to the insult you have to face Jin after than with the OP Dragon Eeveelution with no healing options in between.

EDIT: Nevermind, I used Luxio to defeat Sharpedo by spamming Leer and Spark. After that it was quite an easy battle.

We were already talking about nerfing that battle a little, so we figured now was as good a time as any.

Updated the link to both tune down Sharfeeto and to have the party heal between battles, among a few other minor changes.

It's more helpful to explain what irked you than to just say that something irked you, pal. If you've got some constructive criticism but you think it's a spoiler, just use the spoiler tag, aight?

ok, posting again because i've gotten so much further last night, and tbh i am already craving a FakeDex/Evolution guide for Edge Rising...

now i dont say the same for Attack on the Space Station, since there is only a handful of them in the game, but in Edge Rising there is 25+ Fakemon, which include

alternate Evolutions and Forms, with as many as there is now, not including the future DLC (which i will totally playthrough the game again in completion mode)

there needs to be a guide so that we all can see/obtain these fakemon... so whether this is done later when the DLC comes out, or as a reply to this comment...

i would very much appreciate a guide... because
i had NO idea that my Squirro was going to change form at the blood lake and grow super strong compared to his default form, which with no Evolution, it helps very much to change it's form asap, or it will be too weak later on.

as a pokemaniac, i really need a guide or i'll go cuckoo for cocoa puffs. :P

Actually,
He permanently goes to blood form at level 20.

But I'd be more than happy to make a fakemon guide later if people want that!

oh? well i thought
he only changed form at Blood Lake, because he didnt change form until i fished and fought at the blood lake, and i am pretty sure he was level 20 BEFORE that point... hmm, may need to test that for myself, just to make sure it is working correctly.

and yes please, make a evo guide, i would've just looked at the pokemon.txt, but you seem to have encrypted the altered file. :P

oh and i wanted to point out something
there are supposed to be no TMs, but the game corner at Blackheart City says otherwise.

did you guys forget to remove that? or did you leave it in intentionally? i'm fine with it either way really, just wanted to point that out.

Squirro's ability functions identically to Schooling, in that he changes form after a certain level, and reverts when his HP goes below a certain point.

Forgot about the game corner TMs, but oh well. I wouldn't consider it a maingame thing.

A fakemon guide would probably be useful. Maybe I could make a wiki or something.

ah, that would explain why
Squirro transformed back when getting low HP and then when i went to the PKMN Center it was back next battle.

a Wiki would be just fine, i just want to see what all was created.

the Eons in this game are really cool.

ok, i finished Edge Rising, and here are my likes and dislikes about the game before i give my final rating.

The Good
-------------------------------------------------

Lots of Cool Fakemon - with well-made sprites i may add.

Storyline was really good overall, it was Edgy in a way to parody that kind of game, but it was more interesting than for just that reason, very deep.

Challenge never falters - the difficulty never lets up, you are always tested since you dont have TMs or HMs like Fly or Surf to abuse, so you have to make due with what you can learn through level ups.

The Bad
--------------------------------------------------

Unbalanced Audio - i cannot tell you how common i see this issue, like none of the music is adjusted for volume and it is stuck in as is, this i cannot accept as excuseable, even in a project with a short deadline, it would only take a few mins to calibrate the audio so nobody suffers, especially headphone users like myself.... ouch! >_<

Fang Dies and Surviving Pokemon Disobey - may be a bug in the game for all i know, but my hopes of replacing members of Bro's/Hate's Team were dashed when they would not obey my commands.

you cannot catch and raise Pistoff, thanks to the Gun Control posts keeping you from using it by mugging you and taking it away.

Moral Choices Don't Matter in game - i feel that the player's choices affecting the game would be great to keep things going, but overall killing someone just nets more Pokedollars, no "Undertale" style story interaction makes it feel pointless NOT to kill everyone... especially after killing Eulb 3 times and he STILL comes back...

-----------------------------------------------------

Copy of Fang is created when you meet Red, nothing major as it disappears when you leave, but its there so i am reporting it.

Aborting an Eevee Egg gives you a lv 20 Spectreon - i got 3 eggs to complete my Eeveelution collection and instead of taking my Lv 1 Eevee cub, it aborted one of my unhatched Eevee eggs instead, dunno if Spectreon would always emerge as level 20 but you may want to fix the exception of Eevee eggs from the event.

all in all, i enjoyed the game and i will play again with the DLC, but with the lack of consequnces for killing (or reward for abstaining...) it really hinders the replay value of this project.

nonetheless, i give it a 8/10, regardless of my personal gripes.

Unbalanced audio is definitely an issue. I usually either listened on low volume or speakers so I didn't find it troublesome, but there have been complaints of it.

Fang's surviving mons acting up is not an intended thing. Oops. I'll try to get that fixed as soon as I can.

Pistoff can be smuggled past the guards through a variety of ways, all of which require a sort of abuse of the game mechanics. His usefulness is definitely limited. I mean, it has a guaranteed OHKO, we can't let that just run amok, frankly.

Killing having no consequences is part of the joke. Having murder be the most rewarding choice makes the MC a more blatant hypocrite.

The multiple Fang bug is present in multiple areas due to a bunch of event changes we did late in development. We fixed a few but didn't get them all before the deadline.

The Eevee thing is because of how we handled the event, we didn't really account for eggs. We may end up overhauling later on.
