- - - INTRODUCTION - - -
Pokémon Daybreak
is a fangame made in Pokémon Essentials, and has been in the works for over 4 years by an extremely small development team. For incentive, we have explored: the Pokémon anime and games, real world locations, mythical legends and more. Recently as of Feburary 2023, we have released a huge overhaul update which was in the works for over 2 years!

- - - TRAILER - - -

- - - STORY - - -
A meteor has struck, and you, the local professor's new assistant are assigned to the case. However, some mischievous individuals have beat you to it; and are inspecting the meteor for their own purposes. Who are they, and why is the meteor imperative?

Pokémon Daybreak introduces the enigmatic region 'Armira', and is centralised around storytelling and challenging gameplay. The game is aesthetically beautiful and there are many unique locations you will encounter on your journey, such as a meteor crash site, a castle and a cherry blossom forest. Themes of exploitation, greed, and history are examined and lore is dotted all throughout the game. Take on the challenge of becoming Pokémon Champion in the all-embracing region of Armira!

Playing on V1.7.. Where do we go to unlock the regis? The wiki says Lux Strait underwater section. But there doesn't seem to be an underwater section on the route.

Why is there no option for choosing set or switch mode? I haven't started yet, but which is default?
I'd recommend set mode to be default on Hard Mode, but at least give the option.
Of course, you can just choose not to switch, but the temptation would be there...

This game looked very promising, sadly I am stopping it at 2nd gym.
I like challenges, I played maaaaaaaaany fangames, seen maaaaaany types of difficulties and challenges, and in my opinion the choices of difficulty here are mostly time consumming.
Even tho I'm not a fan of the lvl caps I could get along with it on reborn for exemple, that is very well designed on the curve of difficulty.
But here the choices made are making this game kinda stupid in the way that yeah, there is a solution somewhere in hte previous pokemons to catch, but this is way too much. The 1st gym was already annoying, but the 2nd gym is beyond comprehension.... geodude lvl 14 with earthquake ? really ? broken battle items ?
lvl cap way too short considering how insane the moveets of trainers are ? sunkern giga drain lvl 13 or 14 smtg like that, won't even comment the shieldon with flamethrower and ice beam... if at least some interresting TMs were available, or the movesets of the mons revised to give more options to deal with this difficulty that almost every time forces to go catch some dumb stuff just to pass a single random trainer sometimes...

I would like to keep going but at this point, I really don't get where you guys wanted to go with this system, but those choices are not making this game more difficult than another hard mode on another fangame, only difference is that it's way longer to progress, wasting the player alot of time restarting the game because of another stuff not supposed to exist at this stage of a game, and without any appropriate way to deal with it beside going to catch and train with a fairly low xp rate.
Difficulty is different than time consumming, anyone that knows pokemon mechanics in general kinda knows what to go catch etc, but... it's already long enough to grind the mons we want with a decent nature / ivs to also add to this a lvl cap forcing to go fight with pokemons we don't really want or care about if we didn't need it right now. Also after 1st gym I was told pokemons until lvl 25 will obey but the cap is at 18 when I train them .... which is either nonsens either another idea to add difficulty, but again.. I'm sure there are other options to add difficulty that won't look as weird and won't be just more and more grinding !
I think reborn can be safely taken as a good reference for that, even tho it is hard and some parts will take time, the player doesn't have this feeling that it's designed to be frustrating and overtuned. The fights are hard and will require a solid team and strategy, not to go get some average to bad mons situaitonaly just to progress in the game. I imagin this is especially harder at the start, and this overtune stuff is less abusive as player gets more items, TMs, evolutions, strong moves, but just to imagin that stuff going on for 5 or 6 more badges, it's not looking fun at all.
I get that it's a very easy way to increase difficulty to give totally overtuned moves to opponents but then don't put a lvl cap, just soft cap xp so after a point it's 50% less xp or smtg, but hey we don't want to change half the team 4 times every gym...

I wish you good continuations on maybe other projects !

I agree, I had to stop before even the first gym myself because Surf on a Corphish and confusion by a level 3 Abra were making it far more difficult than it should to level up my level 5 team. Theres challenging, and then there's grotesquely unfair.

You going to add the rest of the current pokedex? If you don't want to add all of gen 9 that's fine.

You might want to update it again. Im playing on normal and have lost 4 battles before the 1st gym (with a Jolteon btw). What a stupid choice to make the difficulty this crazy. Absolutely ruining a game that looked to have a lot of potential before I started. If you're gonna make it this hard, add EXP share from the jump otherwise no one wants to play such a grindy game worse than Red or Blue. Or just... add an easy setting? You know, like, easy/normal/hard? Like small/medium/large? Are you guys this bad of game designers?

Yea I cant beat Dante without training against a level 2-3 weedle for 20 minutes with each Pokemon. And for that reason, I'm OUT! Ridiculous! Figure it out! If you need reference -- Pokemon Infinity / Pokemon Solar Light Lunar Dark / Pokemon Uranium / Pokemon Jade / Pokemon Void / Pokemon Empyrean / Pokemon Insurgence / Xenoverse. This is just awful. I could figure it out, but it would take too much time that I don't have. Yikes.

bagon, lvl 8, with DRAGON RAGE one shotting every member of my team including lvl 12 Jolteon.... What are we even doing here. I don't even want to imagine what hard mode is like LMAO

Does anyone know a trick to completing the lost girl quest in the cemetery/catacombs? I feel like I’m missing something; I found four step tiles, so are there more, or am I supposed to be on the lookout for something else?
After stepping on the four tiles, talk with the Banette statue near the entrance with the two symbols at each side.

As some replies mentioned, this game is quite difficult. I would argue that to fully enjoy it, you need to have some experience with competitive battling, because the game isn't as easy as the main games.
I would place the difficulty as similar to Blaze Black and Renegade Platinum. The difference is that resources are scarcer and that opposing trainers have resources that you don't have, so I'd argue that it's around 1.5 times harder than the two.

With that being said, the game is really fun and enjoyable, and you can tell it's quite polished.
The armiran forms are pretty cool, and pokemon diversity is really good here.
After one of the gyms, you can train pokemon relatively quickly with just 1,000 currency, which alleviates the strain.

It won't hold your hand though, so I recommend this game for veterans or players looking for a challenge.

High recommended to avoid hard mode and find a way to bypass level grinding.

I like challenges, the difficulty would be fine enough, im ok with building a specific team for every single hard battle, emerald kaizo nuzlocking was kinda like that too, but not with this game.

This game barely gives you anything to work with in the early game, and the grinding outside of hardmode or before the 1st gym is just unaccepable. The boss battles are absolute over the top overtuned. Roserade with grassy terrain boosted energy ball? Yeah , skill issue I guess!

It looked promising, sad to see artificial difficulty like this, maybe a future update will make it actually enjoyable.

Wish yall the best in future projects!

this game sucks. Why is primal dialga essentially op and unbeatable with that broken ability? That has been the only difficult part up to this point. I dont want drop this game since it is fun and the plot is nice, but like be for real with primal dialga. My difficulty on normal, yet it feels like hard mode.

EDIT: I just beat dialga. Thank the ungodly luck of a burn
