Completed Pokémon Nightshade

This project is complete. Any future revisions will be bug fixes or small updates.

About
Pokémon Nightshade is made for Relic Castle's Second Winter Jam! This entry is a bit of a departure from my usual work. It's finished, it's as polished as it can be given the deadline, but I have mixed feelings on it. If any positive has come from Nightshade, it's helped me view my main projects in a different light.

I have to give much thanks to my wonderful testers @Foxowl and @PurpleZaffre for all their hard work! @Michael also did testing, but it was his assistance with coding that really helped get the core mechanics of this game off the ground.

Nightshade has around 4-5 hours of gameplay.

Summary
In this game you play as Giselle, a Ranger for Cypress Park. There is no shortage of work to be done, but Giselle has grown somewhat bored of these tasks. So, her boss gives her a challenge. By dealing with various shenanigans related to her job, Giselle can earn Park Points. These, in turn, can be used to buy Ranger Badges. Unlike mainline gym badges, the Ranger Badges have more noticeable effects. They can lower encounter rates, make eggs hatch faster, increase experience gain, and so on. Gather all 10 to become the Ultimate Park Ranger of the Universe! Or... something. Giselle's boss wasn't exactly clear on what collecting them all would accomplish...

Warning
This game does contain the occasional attempt at using spooky imagery. It's just with some of the trainer sprites and overworlds. No need to fear jumpscares, or anything like that.

Features
1. Badge System: The player's main objective is to obtain all 10 badges throughout the course of the game. Some badges can be toggled on or off. Others (such as the badge that heals status effects) must be recharged at a healing point.
2. Gen 8 Pokémon. Pretty self-explanatory.
3. Park Points: This is the currency that the player can buy Ranger Badges with. Park Points are earned from doing certain tasks in-game. It's just a glorified coins system.
4. Task Log: The task log is here to keep you on track. Not sure what to do? Check your task log. Mandatory tasks are highlighted in red, and optional in blue.

I wanted to know if this game is complete? And is there anymore updates? Cos I am the type of person who play the game without installing any updates

The guides linked in the readme text file that comes with the game explain everything for you and should answer all your questions!

Ekat, please teach me game making. This game is FABULOUS! I always love games that take a different take on the pokemon world. But this game is just. I don't have words. I have briefed my views about the game in the SPOILER!
1. A different take on the pokemon world.
2. The badges actually do something.
3. The story was indulging.
1. The game was a bit grindy with all the tasks
2. The game became a bit confusing in some places.
3. This is more of a glitch than a con. When I played for the first time, after defeating Sal for the final badge, I got infinite experience and my game crashed. Oddly enough, my save file also got corrupted. If you can look into it then I would really appreciate it.

Now on the day when I'm supposed to go to Hyacinth Town.
So far, only 2 issues.
1) The evolving animation is way too long
2) Cannot find that Sableye static encounter the guide tells about. Ran out of repels trying to find it.
There is one location I cannot access (my character wants backup), but guide says nothing about this.

1. Press the speedup button (alt) if you find it too long
2. It is there, it's just in the lower levels of the encounter bracket. (You can also check the game's encounter guides to see what specific rooms in the mine it spawns in.) Using a repel isn't going to help, either, because it's not especially high levelled.
3. Check your task list. Recall that red tasks are in mandatory, the others are blue-greenish. You can't enter the dark side of the mines without Marty. That's a job for another day. Once you have rescued the hiker, you go to Hyacinth Town. That's the last task of the day.

An amazing game, it is really hard for me to get down all my thoughts since I've played it over a decent period of time, and I'm just bad at articulating things in general but I'll try. In summary though, an absolutely amazing game.
I loved the gameplay, something about starting each day and having a list of side quests to do around the park, I loved it! There are a few fangames which go with the angle of having the player do work other than just being a trainer. And it is often hard to have the pokemon gameplay, but make the player feel like they are doing something other than just being a pokemon trainer. But this game really drove home the ranger vibe, it was so good and even made me think "hmm... should I be a forest ranger". Well not 100% because that's a big change, but it got me thinking about it the same way "Firewatch" did.

I loved the characters in this game, I feel like they were all done super well, and even characters like Hearse who are somewhat minor in the overall story, get a place in my heart. Now this is honestly a bit of a misunderstanding on my part, but I also loved the conflict between Gisselle choosing between being a Park Ranger or a Researchers with Yew. I honestly thought it was something that Gisselle was thinking about, but reaching the end of the game she clearly states that it was never something she considered. And like how the Boss had misunderstood her, and like Yew had misunderstood, I also misunderstood her until she stood up for herself and spoke for herself. So a bit bad on me for misunderstanding that, but it also kinda drove the message home extra personally which feels really good.

Graphics/mapping, amazing. Can't really say anything else. You've really earnt your own graphical style, and it is completely deserved.

QUICK EDIT HOPEFULLY YOU STILL SEE THIS: I forgot to mention how much I loved the hospital section, you really nailed the atmosphere, I loved talking to the ghosts/images of the past. And the pay off of encountering them with Sal aaaaaaaaaaaaa it's amazing. Loved it.

Thank you so much for making this amazing game, if anyone is reading this and hasn't played Nightshade, I 100% recommend you do.

I'm trying to catch 'em all, and am consulting the Pokemon encounter google doc, linked in the game's files. I found Combee in the Poppy Forest, which is missing from the google doc, but cannot find Comfey at all, who IS listed. Can anyone confirm if Comfey is a rare encounter, or a typo for Combee?
