That's my bad then! I may have misunderstood your notes then, though I do think the tonal issues are actual issues, at least imo. It's a good lesson for me to take to my next project, I think! That also may have partially been because I was in a bit of a clash- we wanted a pretty serious story while still having a really relaxed and goofy writing style, so I could have definitely done more work to mesh the two.
Oooh that makes sense, then I'd say it's not a matter of how but when. It wouldn't require much reworking on your part, simply consider "when" is the time for the dialogue to appear that way, and when it's not. Although in general, merging these two is not an easy undertaking.

Yo, just wanted to say I LOVED the game.
(It's almost a given since fakemons is what drew me to discorver this world of fan-games)

I liked the designs a lot; most of the time the game felt fair; no HM slaves \o/ ; the writing's good (even tho I agree with what Dogz said up there; decent amount of new mons in each new region; good side/optional content
the cave
; I LOVED that the
tells you when / how to evolve your pokes. You did what I thought impossible: gave a use to the pokedex
;

In summary, I had a lot of fun =)

Some critics:
I felt the game was balanced until route 03. I felt a little bump in difficulty, even tho I went to the (
cave
.

I'm not really a fan of
I'm a gym leader so'll have an special attack / power
... felt overpowered, esepcially the last gym, since it's a double battle and I'm pretty sure she used 2 of those ... but hey, that's just me. But I do like the mid battle dialogue =)

Where do I get
salamoist?

I found these:

You can go to the darkness on the last gym

So, yeah, pretty great game. Gonna join the discord and will be waiting for the full release.
Thanks for this awesome game.

PS: look what I found!

Hello there! I just finished Ethos with a playtime of 3 hours on normal difficulty! Here are some of my thoughts on the game:
1629415677606.png

Aesthetics:
The 1px density graphics is really unique! It definitely makes the game stand out. The characters are adorable, and they remind me of BDSP. I also like how there are items that are from an older era (e.g. the pager and floppy disks).

Audio: Great music choice. It really fits the game's cute style. There's PMD music, so it's a plus for me. Nice compositions by ENLS too!

Fakemon: There are some designs that I really like, but honestly I have pretty mixed feelings about a lot of them (but that's just my opinion!). They do feel like they belong in the same game, though. It's also really impressive how you made 46 fakemon for a jam game, in 1px density too!
-Favourites: Pebblun, Sahanger, Mousnot, SALAMOSS+ REPTHESIS!
-Least favourites: Recrit, Larvet line (I know I have a Ballady on my team, but I just like its moveset lol)
Gameplay: The game's balancing on normal mode was good! It was challenging, but it didn't make me want to swap to easy mode.
There are so many small details in the gameplay that I really like. Stuff like interacting with the piano, buying items with the Pager and knowing when your Pokemon will evolve using the Pokedex. Details like these make the game feel fresh and interesting. I wasn't sure what was the point of the EXP capsule though.
I really don't have any problems with the mapping! It was great. The routes were fun to explore.
My favourite part of the gameplay was the gym puzzles! They're so fun and creative! 😊

Writing: The dialogue was playful and fun to read. I liked how the characters had a lot of personalities (Favourites: Professor Loblolly, Harlequin, Laura-Gene). The story is really intriguing too! It makes me want to know what is coming next after the demo. Great job as usual, NocTurn!

Nitpicks:
-Some Pokémon back sprites look too tiny.
-No running shoes until 1st gym. 😞
-Fitch looks too similar to the male protagonist.
-For the battle UI, it's quite hard to see which action you're selecting. Maybe make the white outline thicker.
-

That's it! I barely had anything bad to say about this game. I think the aesthetics are great and the gameplay is solid. I definitely will be looking forward to future updates! Great work NocTurn, ENLS, Voltseon and Thundaga!

Hey there! Would love to help give you possible solutions here, but I need a bit more information. At what instances does the game freeze/lag? And also, what are the stats of your computer like? Does it work well for other RMXP games, considering that Ethos uses that framework?

Aww, this looks so amazing! As if you've made all the graphics by your own!
There is just one little critique I have to say: "The blue and red text on a brown background is hard for the eyes".
Other than that, it looks like a professional fan game that has no Pokemon Graphics in it and I have to play this as soon as possible!
