Welcome to Verdan Academy, a prestigious institution nestled deep within the Aldana region—where tradition, ambition, and mystery collide.

You’re one of the few students selected to join this year’s class, each member assigned to a dorm that shapes their path. Fate places you in Fennel Wing, the underdog dorm known more for misfits than prodigies. But as you'll soon discover, this year will be anything but ordinary.

Meet unforgettable classmates, build friendships, rivalries, and uncover strange rumors surrounding ancient ruins hidden throughout the campus grounds. With exploration programs reinstated after a mysterious suspension, something long buried begins to stir once more.

What secrets lie beneath the surface of Aldana? And why does it feel like you're being watched?

Your journey at Verdan Academy is about to begin—but not every lesson comes from a textbook.

(Some features are still a WIP)

School Life Simulation
You live the life of a student at Verdan Academy, forming relationships, attending events, and exploring the world beyond campus.
Interactions with other students (like Lara, Rei, Nina) affect story direction through an affinity system.

Narrative-Driven Progression
A branching storyline filled with secrets, ancient ruins, tension between factions, and moral choices.
Dialogue and event outcomes can change based on earlier choices, making the story reactive and immersive.

Enhanced Battle System
Battles are visually impressive thanks to Elite Battle: DX, with animated intros, battle UI upgrades.

Exploration & Side Quests
Explore areas like the Whispering Ruins, Glintgrove Way, and Mantia Island, each with its own story hooks and encounter tables.
Side quests flesh out characters and the world, including ruin investigations and hidden truths about Pokémon and the factions.

Relationship & Reputation System
Helping or ignoring characters affects your affinity with them, influencing both story and dialogue in subtle and meaningful ways.

Special Thanks

Thank You for Playing!

Thank you so much for playing this game! This project holds a special place for me, as it's the very first one that has made it past the planning stages and into something that you can actually experience. I truly appreciate your time and support as you explore the world I've created.

As this is my first real endeavor into game development, I must apologize for any rough edges or imperfections you may encounter along the way. I'm still learning , and your feedback is invaluable to me as I continue to improve and refine the experience.

I hope you enjoy the journey, and once again, thank you for being a part of it!

This project was originally created for the InsertName Game Jam of 2025.
Thank you to all the coordinators and players who made the event possible!

That’s the end of Chapter 1. If you’ve already completed all the sidequests, the only major content currently available is the Tournament.

That said... there are two secret events hidden in Mirinth, and so far, no one’s found them yet. 👀
Really damn I was really into the story of this game lol. Well hopefully we get some references of GX season 3 and season 4 in your game since the 2nd of season 3 was great and season 4 was also pretty good.

I’m really glad to hear you’re enjoying it! I’m currently hard at work on Chapter 2, and I’ve just hit about 85% completion on one of the dungeon-like structures in this chapter. My main focus right now is on developing the core cast more deeply, while also introducing new plotlines and characters to keep things fresh.
I don’t think I’ll fully copy GX, I mostly just drew some inspiration from the setting. Someone recently proposed a really interesting gameplay concept to me, and while I like it, I’m still figuring out the best way to implement it (and whether it’s something players would actually enjoy or just find tedious).
Once the testers finish the final round of testing, I’ll post an update on the release. Hopefully this time around I won’t run into as many issues, and I’ll be able to launch well ahead of schedule!

Normally I don't try out fangames that are earlier in development but this one caught my eye and I'm very glad I gave it a shot. I had a lot of fun with this demo and I think the game has a lot of potential. After I got to the end of the demo, I still wanted to keep playing, so I ended up running through the map to see if I could catch any issues and I found a few. Here are the most notable and my apologies if you're already aware of any of these:

Whispering Forest (Desert Area):
  • There is what I think is supposed to be a strength puzzle but you can't interact with the moveable stones.
  • Tile on the grass side of the Pkmn Center can be walked through.

Crumbling Path:
- The exit back into the ruins is three tiles wide.

Crumbling Cave: !!!!!!
- I returned to this cave after completing the "chapter", interacted with the large stone tablet in the back, and was able to re-trigger
Lara's encounter with Vespera (as myself).
It proceeded as normal until the fade to black, where the game froze.
- Returned a second time, re-completed the strength puzzle and was able to re-trigger
the player's meeting with Vespera and Selis. Both characters were invisible, but the Corviknight sent out was fine. Froze on the sound of Mimi attacking(?).

Mirinth City:
  • The three grass tiles on the cliff-side behind the lighthouse can be walked through to ascend/descend the cliff.
  • At the end of the docks on the beach, the exposed crate is considered a water tile (tells me I don't have Swim Gear when interacted with).
  • The bottom row of water tiles at the same dock can be walked on (but only when approached from the top).
  • At the house between two boats, both the life preserver and the bottom right corner of the house can be walked through.
  • The bike shop has no collision. The door still works as intended though.
  • The red truck next to the bike shop can be partially walked through.
  • On the top left of the map, near the Pkmn Center, there is a grass tile that's probably supposed to be cliff. Allows partial entrance into a tree.

I also caught a handful of minor graphical/text/miscellaneous errors if you're interested in seeing/hearing about those. Overall though, I did really enjoy playing this demo. The environments were interesting and all the assets were used creatively. I was particularly impressed by
the void and the sky area with Mew.
The plot is being built up pretty nicely and I'm looking forward to seeing where it heads from here.
The gift from Dad was a pleasant surprise (as well as a neat way to bring up that he's a researcher) and I appreciate how Mom being a (seemingly) retired battler has been utilized. Everything feels very purposeful. Watching her prompt and critique the player's first battle and having her be the one who set up the trainer gauntlet outside town were both unique and fun bits of character work. Maybe I'm stretching a bit with my speculation, but I would totally believe she pulled strings to have the player placed in Fennel Wing as a way to challenge them.

This isn't at all a complaint but I've noticed that thus far the choices have mostly been about action vs inaction.
(Ex: Intervene to help Lara or don't, encourage Mia or don't).
I could be reading too far into it, maybe this wasn't even intentional and will change as things progress/more choices are added, but for now I do kind of dig the framing of inaction ALSO being a choice. As someone who thinks about EV's during normal play more than I probably should, I like the "EV buffer." I'm also liking all the little extra details you've put in (my favorites so far being
the Hisuian Zorua encounter and the bed plushie).
Thank you for making this. Definitely looking forward to the next chapter release!

Thank you so much for all of this, I really appreciate it! I’ll be double checking those issues again, but I just want to make sure you’re playing on the most recent version. I’ve already patched a few of those things, so it’d help to confirm.

And honestly, all help is welcome. If you have any suggestions or run into anything broken, please don’t hesitate to shoot me a DM!

I’m also planning to add the X (Twitter) link soon so I can post updates there, just to avoid spamming this page as I keep adding more content to the game.

Sorry for asking a silly question, but is Nymble/Lokix, my favourite Pokemon, obtainable in the current Demo?

Sadly, it hasn’t been added yet, but I’ll make sure to include it in Chapter 2! Maybe as a side quest with a funny little story for a special one. 😉😉😉

Honestly my problem with this game is i want more. Stay healthy and hopefully this game have long story

I'm trying to get a shiny starter, is it possible to find out when clicking the pokeball? When choosing a nickname? Or after all that?
Sadly, I was too dumb to implement this from the start, but I’ll see what I can do. For now, you’ll probably need to get through the dialogue with Thorn… 😅 I’ll try to find a workaround for those who enjoy shiny hunting.

Is there a way to give Swampert a physical water STAB currently, and is there a move reminder anywhere?

I’m currently working on Chapter 2, and with only a couple of days left I’m going insane. I’m adding some improvements including unlimited TMs and the Advanced Training area, where in the future you’ll be able to challenge trainers from the mainline games to earn special rewards or TMs. This part is still a work in progress and will be released progressively in smaller patches, but it already includes move reminders and trainers.

Vitamins will now increase IV values, since we can manually set the EVs, leaving their standard usage obsolete. I decided this was the best way to let players use their favorite Pokémon regardless of their original IVs.

Oh, and you can also find Waterfall in this chapter… but only if you do a side quest, not sure if that solves your specific issue. >.>

Wait really? Which side quest is it? (I hope its not the Lost in translation or stocking ambitions, idk why i just really have no idea where to go to complete them lol) also for the burglar in the back of the blue truck, he gives me the quest but for some reason it says i already completed it, as far as i remember i have not touched it its probably a bug, and is there a way to delete a save file to return to a older file (i may have saved infront of the lighthouse by reflex, and i never received the quest from the burglar) (It isnt a big deal if there isnt a reward for completing it)

Well, I’ll be adding it in Monday’s update, so it’s not currently in the game, sorry about that. As for Lost in Translation, that one’s kind of on me. It’s a bit of bad design I’m still working on fixing. To complete the quest:
you’ll need to examine the stone tablet where you obtain the pickaxe (after finishing the first dungeon), provided the quest is active.

The Stocking Ambitions quest hasn’t been implemented yet, since it depends on an NPC who’s only being introduced in Chapter 2.

I also need to get some testing done for Chapter 2, so if anyone’s interested, please let me know! I tend to overlook little things as the dev that players always seem to catch. 👀

Bug Report
Completing the battle challenge strips you of all your items (you can avoid this by putting your items into the PC) in addition it also just makes your entire team level 30 and quick questions is there a way to obtain the Razor Claw and where is the waterfall quest?

That was such a great catch, thank you so much! I realized I forgot to add the restore at the end of the challenge. It's been fixed now. Sadly, I don't think many people took the time to clear it. Did you get the special reward?

The Waterfall TM will be available in Monday’s patch.

No need to push yourself. More tools will be available after the next patch, so you’ll have plenty of options then.

Hey guys,

I’ll be honest, I ran out of time. My bad for setting such an unrealistic deadline. I really thought I could keep up with the Jam’s pace, but I wasn’t quite there.
There’s still more I wanted to do, but I didn’t want to delay the release, especially with the new ZA around the corner (let’s face it, we’re all gonna be busy with that for a while 😅).
I’ll keep releasing content, but I won’t set a strict deadline this time. Instead, I’ll drop smaller updates, and once there’s enough built up, I’ll package it into Chapter 3. My goal is to make sure you have plenty of content to enjoy all at once.
I know I could’ve done more, but I spent a lot of time improving systems and little details. I did a couple of test runs and things shouldn’t have any major bugs… but who am I kidding, you guys always find something I’d never expect.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the story! Sorry it’s a bit on the short side this time :C. I’ll see you all soon.

If you run into any issues, don’t hesitate to DM me!

there is not a decent way to beat that challenge no way to train effectivly no way to change up your pokemon before each match and not healed in later ones making it so difficult to beat the entire challenge i was able to get through most but the later ones you need fully evolved pokemon but i love this game i hope there will be events later that the mc ends up in the hospital and depending on his relasionship with people it will determine who will visit
