Made Using:
RPGMaker XP and Pokemon Essentials

Team:
Tomix9tomix/CloonieKing -Co developer, eventer, mapper, writer and making everything come together
Papurikagakusyu - Co-developer, artist, writer, and helping around everywhere
NuclearOmega - Helped and offered advice for the Ultra Beast's stats and move pools.

Notes:
Just some personal notes, this game was made in a little over a month for the 6th Relic Castle Game Jam. It was made by me and my partner Papurika, this was my first time having someone else to help develop the game as a whole, not just an artist but someone who made the game with me. It was a lot of fun. And while this game took a lot out of me as I raced for the finish line, I think it was worth it.

This is a very different type of game compared to what I've made before... Although to be honest none of my games are that similar. So I hope you enjoy this new kind of game from me. Furthermore the story is a direct continuation of Sun & Moon, so working with cannon plot was very new for me. I learnt a lot about the Pokemon world.

To my family, my friends at college, and my friends at Relic Castle, thank you so much. I wouldn't have been able to make this without your support. Please enjoy!

Heyo, I have 1.4 downloaded and I ran into the same error about going back and being reset as Looker (but looking like Anabel). I restarted from my last save point and am just gonna go in prepared but I want to give you the heads up for sure.

aaaaaaaaa I really thought I had fixed this bug but I guess not. When you started your game were you already in the gate house? If not would you mind me private messaging you about getting your save file so I can figure out what is going on here. And if you want to delete your save all you need to do is click "new game" at the main menu.

I will test it again and let you know if I was wrong, which is uaully the case LOL. I started at the motel. So everything looks okay so far.

(Condensed version of the notes I sent you!)
The Mapping/Tiles
All of the game's mapping was solid. While I did pick up on a few errors, they were all tiny things. (And I was going through with a fine-tooth comb, so I don't think most people would notice if they were just breezing through the area.) One aspect of the outdoor maps that I particularly enjoyed was how things looped around. The Giant's Climb is a good example of this. You had a fun set of optional paths to travel, that all linked to one, central area. There was also a fair mixture of grass and trainers along with that.

When it comes to tiles, all of the custom work looks great! I think my favourite tiles were the ones in Malie city. The buildings were beautiful, and I loved how all the important ones came with their own little signs. It helped make them stand out. The arches and lamp posts also helped make the town stand out.

That being said, I would have liked to see more custom tiles in the game. Despite the game being set mostly in and around Alola, the areas didn't feel very tropical. I think using the deciduous trees instead of the pine trees, and throwing in some palm tree tiles could have helped with that. I also would have liked if the Ultra Boost HQ had its own tileset, to help set it apart from the rest of the indoor areas. You could have done some cool, bizarre things with the tiles to set it apart that they were from a different world. (Foreign language on the chalk boards, machinery/objects that the trio don't understand, etc.)

The Writing
The main story was great! I liked how the three main characters all had their tales linked together, and I found the motive of Team UB to be interesting. I also really liked how their reasoning played into the final choice at the end of the game. I also admire that you chose to have a more melancholy ending to the game, no matter which choice you picked. (Obviously one is sadder than the other, but I'm glad there wasn't a miraculous off-screen fix to the problem.)

I enjoyed how a lot of the dialogue changed as you played as Anabel. Especially in the beginning area, there was value in returning to explore the village as her because things had slightly changed. Even later on, as you explored the mirror puzzle, I liked how Looker and Anabel would refer to each other when inspecting certain objects. (Ex: the Skitty plates.) Then they would react in a certain way as the pay off. (Looker saying Anabel would like the plates, Anabel in turn mentioning that the plates were cute.)

Tiny plot point that came to mind: Anabel is a Faller, but unaware it. The international police, however, know that UBs become more hostile around Fallers. We see this happen when Anabel goes to confront Shimayge. Wouldn't she put two-and-two together from that?

On the subject of Anabel, I liked the irony of her being from another world, while simultaneously trying to stop TUB. I almost wish she remembered that she was a Faller at this point in the story. You could have worked in some interesting interactions between her and TUB. (Perhaps she would relate to their desire to want to go home, but could see the reason of not doing so because of the danger it entailed? Something along those lines...)

The Gameplay
I already sort of addressed this with the mapping, but I enjoyed exploring the world! I felt like the routes were interesting, and there were lots of rewards that came with scouring the area. I do wish that there was more to do in larger places, like Malie City, but I understand the time constraint you were under. The switch mechanic was neat! I'm glad it was just a matter of a convenient button press. This is another aspect in the game I would have liked to see more of, because it was fun to navigate the world while switching through Looker and Anabel whenever I wanted. The puzzles were a nice break from all the action of battling, as well. They were just the right amount of tricky.

Battle-wise, I didn't have too much trouble playing as Looker and Nanu. Anabel's team was a little trickier for me to work with because of their movesets, but that might be more of a personal preference. I felt like there were perhaps a few too many trainers in the Recycling Plant and TUB HQ, but most fights felt pretty balanced. Both bosses at the end of the game were a little easy, but I'd rather that than them being too difficult.

Overall, Vanishing Point was a fun playthrough! Great job with it!

is this available in mobile?
It 'can' be played on mobile using something called "JoiPlay", I don't know the specifics of it however there are plenty of tutorials on how to set it up and play games with it out there that you can learn from.

However I will note that the game wasn't made with JoiPlay in mind, or rather, any mobile play in mind. It is meant to be played on PC so I'll just warn you that I can't promise it will work, but worth a shot I guess! I hope you enjoy!

Expo Team
Hey I completed your game! Great job finishing a Game Jam Project, which is a feat of its own!

opinion, everyone is free to disagree

This was a decently put together package that I felt worked well within itself. It's to the point where I didn't actually have a lot of notes for this game, simply because there wasn't a lot that stood out in a negative way. It's an idea and it's executed! Cool touch: I like how trainers existing in this little experiment actually have a reason to be there logically instead of being there to annoy the player because "pokemon game gotta have trainers stopping you yeehaw", so you got some new interactions with NPCs and the situation at hand. I like that stuff!

Balance wise, the game was on the easier side. Trying to shrug off the bias considering most other titles this year were difficult, trainer battles were fair and not too intrusive with not too many unnecessary battles, but it was almost to the point where it was kinda hard "not to lose". The trainer placement and # of Pokémon were perfect, but I might've enjoyed tougher specific Pokémon choices and enemy movesets. That's a huge plus though, most other games overdo the former 2 points, making them frustrating and annoying to play. I always think it's better to test the waters on the easier end first than the other way around, because it's a lot easier to fix and you can live with the satisfaction that you at least didn't give your player a headache. Additionally, there were a lot of interesting picks for this game that stood out to me. I liked how Anabel starts with an objectively overpowered team but lacks the movepool to steamroll the game.

The puzzles were very original, which I always love to see in these games, especially the switching character one (I big + story being relevant with gameplay), but I felt like they were a bit cryptic at times and a bit "you see or you don't" if that makes sense. I didn't have much problems, but I can definitely see other people missing them.

I think the only significant thing I'd critique is the dialogue, with a few ?s missing, some sentences end a bit abruptly, and it was in a way, a tad stoney? But the issue isn't consistent, so I mostly blame that on the game jam time limit.

Every other issue I had is only a "meat" issue due to the time constraints of a Game Jam, so I don't count those. I'm sure every game would have more meat if they had more time, but for some reason, I think SPECIFICALLY a game like this would've benefited A LOT from more meat on its bones.

Well done tom!!!! It was a good game and a well executed idea!! <3

I just finished it. I played it for Anabel. I really loved the story, the escape part, the evil team. I chose the "bad ending" only for chaos. Haha.
*I think someone should put all complete games at fangames-completed because people can't find them from forums

I've just started the game and I can't seem to figure out how to speed it up. In most fangames I've encountered it was either logged to the Tab key or to the M key.
Does such an option exist? If so, where?

Sorry there is no speedup built into the game, and while there are ways to sort of mod the game to have the option, doing so makes the game randomly crash from time to time, so I highly suggest against it.

Okay... Just finished the game, played both endings.. let me find the spoiler tag
all in all even though it was really short... About 5 hours to finish for me maybe 4 hours and 40-45 minutes.. it was really really good, idk if it's a bug or not but when I played as the second character the farther into smoldering woods I went it started getting all laggy and choppy, idk maybe that's on my end.. but as I was saying, super duper good game, my only gripe with it is that it's not a 40+ hr game but hey that's not a bad thing, it was awesome, hope you had as much fun making it as I did playing it.

thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot to me that there are still some people out there enjoying the game. About the game length, ideally I would've wanted it to be a bit longer, but it was made in a game jam which means I only had 40 days to make it, so it was made with the goal of being a short but complete game. Thank you so much for playing!

Absolutely, and yeah I understand the whole game jam ordeal, I'm really looking forward to any other games you've made . For the jam or otherwise, I'll be on the lookout
