How many have played through Gen 2 and thought: "Wow that would have been much better with a logical level curve." Or just wanted a remake of Johto with a higher difficulty? Welcome to Grueling Gold, a difficulty fan game of Gen 2, developed in v20.1 of Pokemon Essentials. Some things you'll find:

  • mega evolution, including some custom megas
  • updated base stats and movesets for normally underused Pokemon
  • competitively challenging boss battles, gym leaders and rivals
  • added story elements to combine the nostalgia with a fresh take
  • custom moves and abilities to give a more interesting competitive battling scene
  • 2 difficulty levels
  • an option to removing grinding and EVs
  • a nuzlocke option
  • A Dexnav that works with day and night cycle so you can chain hunt encounters for shinies or egg moves and hidden abilities
  • use of Essentials Deluxe to insert boss Pokémon and certain gimmicks within battles
  • a completely reworked and custom AI to optimize the battle experience and make the game actually difficult
  • Pokémon from gens 1-9 (DLC mons released as of 2.0! Kanto later!)
  • a fully working randomizer that can randomize encounters, static and gift mons, trainer teams, level up moves, abilities and base stats
  • Expert mode now plays a good bit differently from normal mode! (1.2.0 update)

Hey I'm having an issue with the game whenever I try to launch it pops up with "you must install. Net core" and freezes up. I have. Net and my pc is fully updated. Anyone else?

Hello, I was playing this game earlier, I'm in ecruteak and havent had any issues so far. This time when I try to load it I get a bunch of errors like
Marshall data too short
5 different 001 save data errors
5 999 errors
How can I fix this?

That means your save file got corrupted and you'd need to delete it and start a new game

Hey, so I was on my way to Olivine City and literally at the first Double Battle, I get this error as soon as I take out the opponent's mons:

As of just now this error has been fixed and you should be able to progress :]

Also, how do you evolve White Stripes Basculin into Basculegion? I did everything I could think of, but I can't seem to get it
There's a way to check. Go to where the stats are on your Pokémon summary and hit the C button. It'll show Evolution, and it'll tell you how to evolve it

I need to know something: What're the shiny odds? Both Pre-Shiny Charm & Post-Shiny Charm. The reason I'm asking this is because while I was catching legends left and right and watching a Youtube vid, I stumbled upon a Shiny Calyrex. Also, where're the remaining legendary related items? (DNA Splicers, Reins of Unity, etc...). I'm assumin' they're in Kanto?

Delta is an emulator, this is a standalone .exe. Thus, you cannot play it on Delta.

Also, do you ever plan to add an easier difficulty? It would be great for people like me who would like a bit of an easier time playing through this game.
I'd also love an option for atleast a slightly easier option. I don't mind a challenge here and there, but with the playstyle i prefer to do for these games, "boss tier" trainer fights just feel less fun, and more of a brick wall that just leaves me feeling worse about myself once i finally overcome them, if i even overcome them...
