Pokemon RBGenesis has it's last official release, and I'm opening it up to the community to keep expanding it! RBG+ Is unfortunately, not a finished update like I had originally wanted. Due to changes in my personal life, I don't have any time to be able to work on the project like I used to. So I wanted to share the little bit that I had gotten to to at least get it out to the public. It includes a lot of fixes for issues you guys were having, as well as a lot of really fun new things to explore! The game is still complete from start to finish, it's really just the post game areas that were too ambitious for me to finalize.

However, if you like the project, and have access to RPG Maker XP, you're more than welcome to carry on the project from where I left off! I will open up some more Discord threads for project discussion and will be there to answer any questions you might have. Let's work together to create the ultimate Kanto experience we can!

RBG+ is still compatible with your old save, but I recommend backing up your old save and starting a new game, so you don't miss any of the new events or cause any unintentional soft locks. All the saved game information is stored in the save file "Game. rxdata", in the folder "C:\Users\ USERNAME \AppData\Roaming\ Pokemon RBGenesis ". Simply moving the save file to a folder will store it and the game will make a new save upon loading.

I hope you guys can forgive me for having to abandon the game, and I hope you enjoy the new update!​

Loving it so far, Misty was one hell of a beating though. Just curious, where does one get Rock Smash? Almost feels like I missed it now that I'm in Vermillion.

Loving it so far, Misty was one hell of a beating though. Just curious, where does one get Rock Smash? Almost feels like I missed it now that I'm in Vermillion.
The Rock Smash HM can be obtained from the Fighting Dojo in Saffron. But you can get access to it earlier from wild Pokémon, such as Mudkip. Rock smash areas can have a few bonus things early if you have it, but isn't needed to progress the story. It can be a fun reason to come back to old areas later.

Just wanted to say im loving this game so much. Can't wait for a battle tower type thing in the future
Glad to hear it! There is support for the Battle Towers in the kit, but I get a lot of crashes when setting them up. Whenever I get it fully working, I'll include it for sure!

Thanks for the answer. Yeah I noticed some of those areas and was really curious about them, now I'll need to find where Mudkips are hanging out, hah!

Version 1.4 is available now! It includes some big changes such as Pokémon rebalances, a fix for fly crashing the game, and sprites for the remaining Mega forms. The changelog has been updated with more info.

Just one curious thing, dunno if it's a bug or not; on Route 9 close to Cerulean itself there's a ledge with a rock to smash, and an item behind it, but it disappears when I get close?

Hm, that must be the Lopunnite. The item shouldn't disappear for any reason other than picking it up, I'll look into it some more.
Edit: I can't see anything that would cause it to disappear. I tried loading a new game and going there to see what would happen, and it didn't happen. I'll keep an eye on this one though


Also, apologies to v1.4 users! There's a new important hotfix that is available to prevent a soft lock with the Giovanni fight! The download has been updated to the latest hotfix version.

The battle animation crashes are a known issue that will take some time to fix. One thing that can work is checking to see if your graphics driver is up to date. If that doesn't help fix it, turning off the animations in the options can help bypass it until a fix can be implemented. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I appreciate your patience!

EDIT: Just a quick update to v1.4.2 to fix some issues in the post game. I will be out of the country for a week, so I won't be able to make any adjustments in the meantime, but still feel free to give any feedback or share any issues you find!

where do you go after when you rub the captain's back and he announces the ss anne is setting off for the sevii islands? I tried leaving but the npc told me to go back to my cabin, so i go back (?) and nothing happens

Tried creating a new file with a different name, same crash same spot, and it crashes along a line of tiles that I can't pass. Tried re downloading, crashes in the same spot. ReadME also has a invalid discord link.

Just downloaded the game, new driver updated today- just updated after the crash- still same crash, tried messing around with ingame settings- didn't change any error codes

You have to sleep in the bed, I apologize for not making that part clearer. It's a similar system to the gen 3 ship to go back and forth.

I fixed this error with the new v1.5! I was away for a week on vacation and wasn't able to fix it sooner. If you get the new download it should be working properly now!

I haven't really looked into the controller support for the dev kit to be able to have an answer right now. But let me look into it some more for you and see what I can find!

You have to sleep in the bed, I apologize for not making that part clearer. It's a similar system to the gen 3 ship to go back and forth.


I fixed this error with the new v1.5! I was away for a week on vacation and wasn't able to fix it sooner. If you get the new download it should be working properly now!


I haven't really looked into the controller support for the dev kit to be able to have an answer right now. But let me look into it some more for you and see what I can find!

I did go around it by using JoyToKey, since I also have this issue on other fangames, and not using the same version of poke maker. But having a working button mapping would be great !
I was also curious to know if there are nature mints available at some point, my rng being in negative I am faming charmander with correct ivs for 3h and the 1st one with ok ivs is sassy......

Edit: I also keep having this crash after I get the berries (I also tried without getting the berries, same crash, always on the same part I pass this rock and it may be left right middle I crash)

So that's the exact crash I was having. on Rout 1 right? Lock said like 2 comments up that the new v1.5 dropped last night fixed that issue. Worked for me, just gotta re-download the client, and you keep your saved data

Yes there are nature mints! If you bring cut to Pewter City, north of the museum is Lazy Days Farm. There's NPCs there that sell them and other items.

And yes the crashing has been fixed, if you get the latest download from the link it should be good to go!

Just a small thing I've noticed so far--- certain pokemon sprites and attack animations are sometimes clipping out of the screen, seems like they just need to be re positioned but I have no idea how it works.
The list i have so far are:
Pincer, Syther, Bayleaf, Gyrados, Onix,
Toxic spikes
Shadowclaw looks like Lick's animation xD, SS Ann's rival fight when they choose Ivysaur- and use leech seed- ivysaur goes off screen during the attack lol.
When changing Natures with Mints- stats change and the red/blue color changes to correct stats, but the red and blue arrow remain on the incorrect old stat.
