Story: A region which has been divided and in conflict for over a decade, is now starting to see more peaceful times. The Pokémon League of the region had suspended operations, but is now reopening for you and new trainers to have a chance at becoming the next League Champion. All is not as peaceful as it may seem however, and the conflict which threw the region into turmoil is heating up once again. Travel through a Brand New Region, Discover Brand New Regional Variants, and start out with a new selection of starters! The Royals of the Region have aligned themselves with the factions and the region creeps ever closer and closer to all out war! Will you join a faction or remain neutral? Will you Become the Next League Champion or be pushed aside by your rivals? Will you change the Destiny of the Region? You will find the answer to those questions in, Pokémon Destiny. Factions of the Calypso Region:

The Royalists:
A faction made up of those who remained loyal to the King after the region's big split. Their leader is "Walt", but unlike the other two faction leaders, Walt still sits below King Calypso, who calls the shots from his Palace in the Grand Calypso Plateau. He is an honorable and honest man, however his arrogance can get the better of him sometimes.

The Unionists: A faction made up of those who wish to create a democratic union between all of the towns & cities of Calypso led by a council made up of elected officials from each town. Their leader is "Warner", who has no problem picking up the sword when it comes to defending his people!

The Separatists: A faction made up of those who wish for the towns and cities of Calypso to remain independent from one another and to self-govern themselves. Their leader "Vivian" is an absolute technical genius, who is able to pull the strings from behind the curtains like a puppet-master, manipulating the region's politics in her & her faction's favor.

FactionsRelicCastle.png

The Royals of the Calypso Region: Like gym leaders, you will need to defeat the Royals in battle to earn a scroll, the equivalent of a gym badge. Unlike gym leaders however, you will need to complete a quest for the Royal before being able to battle and obtain a scroll instead of doing a puzzle. You are to collect scrolls from royals, due to it being customary for calysian league trainers to provide service and assistance as appreciation for passage and hospitality. The scrolls are provided to you as proof of your service to each royal. Gym leaders do still exist in calypso as well so get ready for some tough battles and cunning puzzles!

Pokémon Destiny released January 6th, 2023! Download Pokémon Destiny!
Our game has been in development for two years. It started as a solo indie dev project, and after the first year, I realized with a small team, we could really bring this game to the next level! I’ve listed the planned features! Let me know what y’all think!

- Brand New Region
  • Brand New Adventure/Story
  • New Player Art
  • New Characters/Trainers & Art
  • Over 20 new regional variant Pokémon
  • All Gen 1-5 Pokémon (including mythical and legendaries) (#'s 1-649 in the National Dex)
  • Original Soundtrack
  • New selection of starters
  • Brand New Gameplay Mechanics
  • Return of Iconic Gameplay/Features Mechanics from previous games (Battle Frontier, Game Corner, Ruin Maniac and More!)
  • Toggle Exp All
  • Toggle Trainer Pokémon Level Scaling
  • Toggle Wild Pokémon Level
  • Day/Night cycle that affects encountered Pokémon, and many npc conversations.
  • Post Game Content

- All of these features and much more in Pokémon Destiny!

RelicCastlePic2.png

Obviously the game is going to be free! (Still figured I’d mention it)

Still not sure if I want to put a demo out there or not, as I’m not trying to reveal too much before release! I am trying to replicate that feeling back in the 90’s and early 2000’s when a game would come out as a finished product and everything was a complete shock/surprise because you had to either read about it in a game magazine and the access to information/information out there was significantly less than what it is today!

Hey @everyone ! Here is the Changelog/Updates for Pokémon Destiny! New update dropped today 🙂

*Update 1.0.1 - Released 1/09/23 - The "Snow" Update *

(Special thanks to Snow, a user who played through the game and discovered a vast majority of these bugs)

1. Fixed Aqualus Metropolis Wrong Warp when exiting one of the houses.
2. Fixed the "Move Along Bug"
In the Eastern Checkpoint, the East Brawnburg Guard would loop his dialogue to the player.
3. Fixed non responsive item balls throughout the game.
4. Roaming Legendary Switch Fixed.

Update 1.0.2 - Released 4/27/23

1. Added a Healing Location in the First Town, Tristone Town. Yiayia (Your Grandmother) will now heal your Pokémon when speaking to her!
2. Fixed the Dialogue for Royal 1 in Highrock Village.
The First Royal would Reference a non existing item (item was intended to be in the game, but was later scrapped) which led to player confusion.
3. Fixed the Titles for the Faction Leaders of Calypso.
Walt, Vivian, and Warner would appear in battle as "Walt Walt, Vivian Vivian, and Warner Warner". Fixed to now display "Royalist Leader Walt, Separatist Leader Vivian, and Unionist Leader Warner"
4.Fixed a bug in an endgame event.
Fixed the Neutral Ending Option. When choosing this ending, the player would end up battling Warner twice, instead of Warner & Vivian
5. Fixed Professor Oleander and Assistant Kaz Dialogues

Update 1.0.3 - Released 5/5/23 - The "Deven" Update

(Special thanks to Deven, a user who played through the game and discovered these bugs)

1. Fixed East Brawnburg Barrack's Wrong Warp
2. Fixed Aura's Forest Wrong Warp
3. Fixed Warp Location for West Brawnburg City when using HM "Fly".
4. Removed Alomomola from Route 8, Added to Grand Calypso Safari as a Fishing Rod Encounter.

If you haven't downloaded Pokémon Destiny yet, no need to worry about updating your game after installing!

If you already have Pokémon Destiny Downloaded, to update your game, simply download the .RAR file (You can use any of the links found on the Relic Castle Page or using the link in the #download channel of our Discord!), set up the game just like you did originally, and run the game! Once you do that, you may go ahead and delete the old Pokémon Destiny Folder!

I've been using that strategy. Does shroomish still evolve at 24? Any way of grinding with good levels.
Shroomish will still evolve at level 24!

You can use turbo mode to speed up the gameplay to grind for levels on wild mons so that it isn’t tedious.

Make sure that you have that full team of 6 as well, this isn’t a game where you can get away with having underleveled/not a full team! 😁

Hey, awesome to see the game getting updates! No rush at all, but was just wondering if you had a rough ETA on that encounters guide you mentioned previously. That would be a huge help I feel. Happy to wait, was just curious.

Unfortunately I don’t have an ETA, probably not for a bit. Currently working a full time job, developing a game on Unreal Engine, and competing in VGC, along with a lot of other things which are keeping my schedule pretty jammed 😅

If your looking for a specific Pokémon feel free to send me a DM!

Hey!

Wild Encounters have been added to the main thread under the "Wild Encounters" Spoiler Tab. 😄

I also decided to add it here in case anyone scrolling through the comments of the thread might bump into it if they missed it in the main thread.

Hey Smoke, I started the game back up last night and am now soft locked inside the Regional Trade Hub with no way out and like a dope I quit and saved by accident instead of just quitting without saving so I am stuck in there, lol. Any way to get out? I really don't want to lose 6+ hours of playing especially since I sunk quite a bit into breeding a Scyther and Dratini and playing voltorb flip to get a few TMs. Thanks!

FYI, for people stuck at Gym 1 I used
Sandshrew/Sandslash. I leveled it up with the encounters scaling; it was jolly nature so pretty sure at lvl 23 it outsped everything. The Aerodactyl can't really overpower it since it resists all 3 of its moves and if you are faster it probably can't get the roost off in time before you KO it. I swept the gym with it.

Other things I noticed: 1) The EV/IV list tab on the mon summary is the "programmer" order where speed is the 4th stat. Not an issue but the nature highlights the wrong stat (e.g. Jolly highlights SPD instead of SPE). Easy enough to work with, just bringing it up. Also on the knitpick list is the Golbat sprite in combat is really small, at least for me it was. Again, really low on the issue list.

Hoping for a hotfix for the Regional Trade Hub to at least get unstuck. Happy to send you my save file if that helps as well. Thanks again!

Hey!
If you just talk to the two individuals standing next to eachother at the bottom of the trade hub, they will warp you out of the building. The reason it is set up this way is because collision is disabled in that area. (The tileset for the multiplayer rooms is broken)

That worked! I am happy it did, but also disappointed (in myself, lol) that it did. I think turbo mode had me shoot right past them and hit the confirm button, instead of actually talking to them directly. Thanks!

Finished the main campaign, took about 13 hours to complete.

1) The music is wonderful, very diverse and clearly a lot of craft was put into it. Starting here so I don't forget to mention it, as nearly all fangames just recycle Essentials music or snag popular music from Squeenix games.

2) You get access to berries and daycare right after the 1st Gym, and the game opens up considerably. The common issue I think most people will see in the comments above is getting past that 1st Gym. Once you do, you are inundated with tools to deal with nearly every situation. After the 2nd gym you get access to a Battle Market and Department Store that nearly have every item you could ever need, and all TMs.

3) There is no need really to "double back", which is great. I get that progression using HM moves or tools is a staple of Pokemon games, but some fangames just overdo it. Not a fan of after every HM going back to cut that one tree, cross that one lake, move that one rock, etc. Not an issue putting story/progression things behind HMs (which is what this game does), just hate the monotonous task of double backing for items. The downside is the lack of exploration which is a con I will cover.

4) QoL: There are rare candies literally everywhere. There has to be like 70 or 80 in the game at least. You can also scale encounters, and you can see the EV/IV of your team. Turbo button is also nice for people that fear using the speedhack in Cheat Engine.

1) While you have plenty of tools to deal with this, the leveling in this game is all over the place. I found myself underleveled to start, then overleveled and had to go back and turn the encounter scaling off, then underleveled again lol. I stayed underleveled for nearly the entire 2nd half of the game, and didn't have much trouble progressing given the access to all the battle tools you get. Scizor is a beast in this game, buy the Swords Dance TM and use a Heart Scale to get Bullet Punch and you can get thru most of all the trouble spots. As I said, leveling issues didn't slow me down and I finished the campaign at lvl 91-93 for my team when the final encounter has lvl 100.

2) Might seem counterintuitive to my point 3 in pros, but this game is relatively linear. I didn't find anything special looking around (except tons of rare candies, lol).

3) That first gym is harder than the rest of the game by a large margin IMO, primarily because so many encounters are just walled off until you get past it. I think that's a valid criticism, but really after you get thru that the game is fun!

4) Funding is short. You can always go mining to get stuff to sell though, but with none of the TMs or items being things you just pick up, you are spending tons to kit out your team.

Good game, glad I came back to this after getting discouraged originally! Last point, I didn't find Kelpsy berries anywhere to lower ATK EVs. I have to assume this was an oversight since nearly every other item is in the game. Also I didn't see Dream Capsules to get Hidden Abilities, or nature mints. Didn't need them really, but would have been nice to get Multiscale on Dragonite and Poison Heal for my Gliscor but yeah, knitpicking again lol.

I really appreciate the review of the game!! I definitely will use the knowledge moving forward especially when developing my first game in unreal engine! I’m glad that you took the time to play the game, and took the time to write an excellent review! Constructive feedback is always welcome & once again thank you for playing Pokémon Destiny 😁

What do you need a bike for? You don’t need the bike until beating the 8th gym to traverse across the cycle highway. (Bike is available after beating all gyms & royals at the bike shop. It is located on Route 9 North)

Gyms 6, 7, and 8 can be done in any order, so did you potentially skip gym 6 at the top of Frosttip Peak? (Can be navigated to using Burr Cave)
Bro I had completed upto 6 th gym. After that where should I go.
I was clueless.

Hey! If you’ve gotten the Frosttip Scroll and Badge, then you navigate to the next route. When you enter burr cave from Frosttip Town, you enter on floor 1. There is an entrance to the next route on floor one as well which will take you to Drakonrush City, location of the next gym & palace! (Stick to the left side of the cave on floor 1, that is where you will find it!)
