Welcome to the development thread for Pokémon Alexandrite (formerly known as Pokémon Cardinal).
This is a solo project where development began in August of 2019.

Story

Pokémon Alexandrite takes place beore Gurkinn's research of Mega Evolution, well before it is understood and researched by Pokémon guru's around the world. The story follows the adventure of our protagonist's progression in Cardino's Pokémon League. They attempt to acquire 8 badges and eventually challenge the Elite Four and Champion much along the vein of a traditional Pokémon adventure. Along the way there will be conflict with Team Rocket and their influences across the Cardino Region, the story revolves around the impacts of these actions by Rocket and the player's role in protecting the region alongside their father Prof. Yew and their close friend Brett. Players will discover the impact of these changes and the character developments alongside it with variances in the development and story based on the player's actions.

1.0.5 Released, some important new features and bug fixes, please update following the usual precautions (inside a pokemon center).
New Feature Onix Express, fast travel between all the cities instantly!
New Feature Stat changes in battle, removed the old function because it was not commonly used, added a Pokemon Showdown style system from Phantombass, it has an options toggle on/off for those who don't want it.
Adjusted the PKMN Trainer's Club computer to only reset one EV of the players choice at a time instead of all of them
Reduced the cost of Roulette at the Anthrophil game corner
Fixed a bug where player could walk on water in Ochre Valley
Fixed a bug where Megastones could be removed via Trick, Thief, and Fling.
Fixed a typo in a trade quest for Bagon
Significantly reduced the price of EXP candy once again. (Designer Note: I want the candies to cost something as a choice, but it will enable players to pretty much skip grinding if they wish to invest a bit of money,
Alternatively, if the player wishes, they can enable nuzlocke mode in the beginning of the game and buy 999 rare candies, and then turn it off again. Having EXP candies cost something allows a
sense of accomplishment when rasing pokemon as an alternative due to the costs invested.)
Reworked the Shrine of Hope to have 3 prayers for those wanting an easier experience.
1. Money, the shrine awards 100 nuggets. (Removes the financial aspect of the game)
2. No Grinding, the shrine awards 999 rare candies. (Removes the need to grind)
3. Evolution Stones, the shrine awards 1 of each evolution stone. (Removes the need to play the mining game, also makes evolving happen a little sooner for some pokemon)
Added more tip NPCS to the first few areas to help new players.
Added Paras to the encounters in Seafoam Cave 1F, removed Diglett from Seafoam Cave 1F
Moved the Rival Fight in Neon City to occur before the Neon City gym.

1.0.6 Released, be aware that stat changes may not take effect on your Pokémon until you have levelled up with them at least once. (If it was buffed or nerfed)
Fixed a bug where Eldegoss and Gossifleur's audio cries were not playing properly
Fixed a bug where Dragon Darts was not working in double battles (It still isn't perfect, it will target protect and fairy pokemon in doubles, but it does now work)
Fixed a bug where an NPC's pathing could allow player to become trapped in Earthroot forest before the first rival battle
Fixed a bug where the player could become trapped in Bouldergrove Gym if they pushed a boulder into the entrance.
Fixed a bug where a PKMN could gain a large amt of EXP and level past the level cap.
Fixed a bug where the stat change overlay was causing a crash in the safari zone.
Fixed a bug where gym leaders and trainers would not properly randomize their movesets when randomizer mode was enabled.

Added ability to check Hidden Power type and power in the party screen.
Added the Pocket PC (Disabled in Elite Four)

Added a new encounter for the player to recover the Origin Puzzle Key if they had lost it.
Added optional heal to each rival encounter to avoid countering strats like Guts.

Starting a new game is highly encouraged for this version, I can't guarantee compatibility.
New Feature: Advanced Pokedex, by FL: Shows all kinds of info about Pokemon! Should eliminate a large portion of looking things up out of game.
Pokedex can now show Held Items, Stat Totals, Evolution Methods, Learnsets, Tutormoves, Eggmoves, and more.
New Feature: Customized 263 trainer teams for the difficulty overhaul, no trainer uses their level-up moveset anymore.
New Feature: Cardino Mankey and Primape have begun appearing in the region.
New Feature: New side area by Anthophil city with different Pokemon types. (Waterfall cave)
New Feature: Pocket Nurse, you can now heal anywhere.
New Feature: Rebuilt every single trainer to have challenging custom teams and movesets, all 202 of them.
Optimization for Anthophil City, Route 105, Route 103, Route 104
Added Audino and Mega Audino to the game. Audinite is discoverable in the overworld.

Lots of Pokemon rebalancing. (Dev note: The goal with these stat changes and balance passes is to increase the viability of certian underperforming Pokemon)
Paras Line learns Dig at lv. 12, Bullet Seed at 15, Seedbomb on evolving. Loses Dry Skin, gains Overgrown.
Pidgey Line loses Tangled Feet, gains Quick Feet
Polished up the remaining item items which were inconsistent with theme.
Rebalanced the starter lines to be more equivalent, before Solosis was the clear best choice, now the other options are more viable.
Reduced the shiny odds to 1/512
Removed Shedinja from the game.
Removed Mantine/Mantyke, added Gastrodon line.
Removed items from all Trainer's invetories (no more NPC trainer's using items)
Removed the double-battle portion from Shimmerwood Forest with Eve due to conflicts in Nuzlocke mode.
Removed the restriction on No Grinding for Arceus Mode, the money and evolution methods are still disabled for Arceus Mode.
Replaced Power-up Punch with, Mach Punch on tyrogue learnset
Replaced the graphic for the Origin Cave puzzle
Reverted changes to early status moves like Growl.
Sleep Turns don't reset upon swapping out.
Staryu Line gets Luster Purge at lv. 25, (nerfed version)
Numel gets Sandstream ability, loses Oblivious, Camperut gets Sandstream loses Magma Armor
Flygon line gets Sandstream as hidden ability.
Glaceon gets Snow Warning as second ability.
Vaporeon gets Drizzle as second ability, others are still present.
Espeon gets Psychic Surge as second ability, others are still present.
Note: Legacy Saves can get the Pocket Nurse and Pocket PC by interacting with their computer at the Player House, it is added automatically.

Edit: Please redownload if you grabbed the game in the first 15 minutes before this post was edited; hotfixes an issue with Arceus Candies not being usable.. I forgot a UseItemHandler, whoops. (You only need this if you care about playing on arceus mode)

Added the Sea Incense to Rt. 109 fixing an issue where it was previously impossible to complete the Pokedex due to Azurill.

Small update that addresses a few bugs that were found.
  • Fixed a bug where an NPC would not take funds after purchasing a Diamond Stone.
  • Fixed a bug where even if a player had not inserted a Mainframe Core, the story would advance once leaving a certain area.
  • Fixed some typo's in dialogue.
  • Fixed an issue with Brett's Flareon having the wrong held-item.
  • Reworked the Trial of Conviction to be slightly easier, and fixed a crash that occurred there.

Loving this game! Never thought I'd play another game that I'd want to replay another 5 times like Insurgence, but so far this is blowing that out of the water! Keep it up!

Is missingno catchable? I used like 25 great balls(in the red), 12 ultra balls, and a timer ball(while in red and asleep), and the closest I got was 3 shakes. Is it just stupidly hard to catch? Edit: It is, it was just stupidly hard and took another 20-30 ultra balls.

I just want to thank you to everyone who worked on Alexandrite. This game gives the option of play difficulty which I can say many fan games don't do. Thanks for not limiting us and giving us the freedom to customize the game in many ways. I appreciate it a lot and think the game is top notch and I can tell a whole lotta love was put into it.
