It's random chance that goes into deciding who you face at the Gym. I've done everything I could think of to keep it interesting and avoid repetition, but it may happen once in a while, especially early on. Also, some early-game Trainers get stronger if you leave them be. You can only fight each Trainer once, so make it count!
Finally, there is no barrier between areas. You can access areas containing Pokemon five times your strength straight out the gate!

NOTICE:

As for the information relating to v5.0.0, I have run into a major snag in development. To recap, I have been attempting to update this game to Pokemon Essentials v20.1. I knew this would be a bit risky, as Pokemon This Gym of Mine runs on Pokemon Essentials v18.1. And, lo and behold, I ran into an issue. When attempting to load my save, it threw an error after compiling and proceeded to delete my save file... I attempted to run the 20.1 version as a brand new game and it did not throw an error, meaning the issue comes when it tries to load the save.

I know I said that if previous saves were incompatible that I would continue on with version 18.1. However, there are still a number of reasons that I want to update to v20.1 Essentials. So, I decided to ask you guys how I should proceed. At the end of the day, you guys will have to play the game and wait for the update. As such, I want to hear your thoughts. How I see it, there are three ways I can go forward:

1. I can stay with v18.1.
This will require no additional dev time, but glitches such as the weather glitches and level-up glitches will, likely, be permanent issues in the game. In addition, I will lose out on the updated encounter capabilities of v20.1, meaning that any new Pokemon will be limited to newly added areas, and the new Pokemon I add will be limited. In addition, this may cause some Pokemon to be unnecessarily rare, as I cannot directly alter encounter rates in-document.

2. I commit to updating to v20.1, keeping up an updated version of PTGOM 4.0 as a legacy version.
This will require more dev time, but this will deal with glitches such as the weather glitch and the level-up glitch. In addition, this will allow for more robust encounters, potentially balancing out types such as Bug and Steel, which have been reported to be a bit underpowered. Also, I can look into allowing for multiple save files, as doing multiple playthroughs is quite popular in the community so this will make that easier. However, this does mean that this version will NOT be compatible with old save files.

3. I use this as an opportunity to completely overhaul Pokemon This Gym of Mine.
Let's face facts. This game was made 3 years ago, in a rush, and by an amateur game dev. There are a lot of things I had to bandage over just to make the game playable. Even with all the updates, there are still plenty of holes, such as the crazy amount of revenue buildings can generate, the point of reputation and reputation growth not being made clear, some dialogue needing a bit of refinement, and the fact that half of the game's ranks go by over the span of a minute. I could treat this as a chance to truly refine this game. Rebalancing encounters and buildings, giving a reason for ranks 5-7 to exist, amongst other things. In addition, I could look into plugins and resources, such as multiple save files, that could only be added to v20.1. Personally, this would be the route I like to go, but it would add quite a bit of dev time and would not be compatible with old save files. Just like with option 2, the old version of PTGOM will be kept up as a legacy version.

These are the three routes I feel I can go. No matter what, version 5.0.0 content will be included with the update and version 6.0.0 will come some time after. I want to see what you all think, and I am eager to hear your thoughts.

Hi All,

I want to know where to catch Baltoy and Melmetal in the game.
This link shows that we can use Baltoy and Melmetal in the game but I cannot find the source of where to catch it as well as legendary Pokémon.

Hi Dev,

There is a problem where the sand storm does not buffet anything that is not steel, ground, or rock type.
I went to Dragon's Den fought: Axew, Dratini, Druddigon, Drampa, and Jangmo-o.
Fought them in multiple turns and realized none of them are getting buffeted from Hippopotas' sand stream and none have steel, ground, or rock type

Please Fix it.

Omegas is working on remaking the game in a newer version of Pokemon Essentials and said that they will not fix more bugs on this legacy version unless they're game-breaking and easy to find. While sharing bugs like this is welcomed, I think is best to wait for when that version comes out and share the bugs you encounter in it, since ones like this may not even be present anymore.

Hello! I enjoy your game so much! I started as a psychic gym master and once I got into Badderlands I was thrilled to encounter Alakazam - my favorite Pokemon! He was too strong and beat me but after I recovered my Pokemons, purchased potions and some great balls, and went to the Badderlands I couldn't encounter any Pokemon. I tried dueling outside the Badderlands and reentering, going on vacation, advancing with the day, etc but with no effect. Is there any way to fix this so I can catch Alakazam? :)

It's random chance that goes into deciding who you face at the Gym. I've done everything I could think of to keep it interesting and avoid repetition, but it may happen once in a while, especially early on. Also, some early-game Trainers get stronger if you leave them be. You can only fight each Trainer once, so make it count!
Finally, there is no barrier between areas. You can access areas containing Pokemon five times your strength straight out the gate!

You can only have 2 pokemon be a different type than your gym type if they learn the signature move right?

uhh i opened growlithe's dex entry and my game crashed ._.

Edit: Munchlax and Gliscor also crash my game ._.

I cant start the day in Gym. It just asks if I want to start the day -> Yes -> "..." then my character bounces off the Gym.

For pokemon that evolves by trade, is there a specific level or an item to make them evolve

I'm just curious is there a way to change your controls because having to just use the arrow keys is really annoying.
if there isn't I would love for there to be an update that changes that because I use controller

Hey quick question, it it just me or are some pokemon just really hard to catch early on. Like it took me like 3 hrs to get goomy.

I can't seem to find a Sandile or Numel for my team. Is there a location for it cause I know some trainers are using them and I'm sure they're not starters in this game

How do you get the lucky egg ? The only clue is someone is selling it.
It's in Umbal town, tall blue building on the right. There's a guy that calls himself Rare Candy Man, it costs 10k though

Hello! I started playing this yesterday as a Water-type Gym Leader and I'm enjoying the heck out of it... At least I was. A quick bug note before I expand upon my current feelings: You can see in the attached screenshot, TM56 is labeled as "U-Turn" but has the description of the move "Uproar". Which move is it really?

What I'm enjoying:

1. I love the story! I'm sure we've all thought what running a Gym would be like and it's good to see you've put some thought into this beyond simply battling for badges.
2. Elizabeth seems like the rival of the game (I just reached Rank 2) and I can appreciate her side of the story.
3. It's great being able to interact with the community around you.

My current rants with the game:

1. The encounter rate seems unnecessarily high at times. While exploring for Items you can reach the end of boundaries. Turning around to go back would require running through 20+ squares of wild tiles in a row, and if you're unlucky enough you can run into 5+ encounters that you have to escape from pretty often. Losing to the first wild pokemon (and losing money) is faster than fighting the way back. I don't think you meant for it to be that way, but if you did, make sure the player can find out about the existence of Escape Ropes.

2. I understand this is a demo but having to fight the a trainer twice in 1 day (regardless of whether or not they've gotten stronger) gets boring. I hope you address that in the full release.

3. I'm not fond of the idea that wild pokemon are always around your party's level. With there being no EXP share item (not that I've seen yet), the only way to train weaker pokemon is to do the Switch out method. I had PLANNED on training a Magikarp/Gyrados to be one of my Gym Pokemon but other than training on other Magikarp (which don't give good EXP), there's no safe way to train them.

4. Is it me or does the difficulty of trainers IMMEDIATELY go up when you reach the required triggers to rank-up INSTEAD of when the game GIVES you the rank-up? I could swear I fought the Lass with a Kirlia in my gym once at level 18, and in the same day she came back level 21.

5. There's no way to heal at the VERY START of the game. I wanted to train my starter pokemon a bit before going to the city but wound up losing to Trainers and wild pokemon alike.

Maybe the first day experience is wearing off. I'm prepared to grind like anyone else but there's just some things that make the game feel like it drags on more than it should. Looking forward to more though!

That's because Goomy is a Pseudo legendary and they have a really low catch rate

I am aware of a ROM hack version of this game is circulating around. This is NOT that. This version requires no emulator to play and is exclusively for PC. To play, just download the ZIP file from one of the links below. Extract the file and run the game file. I have no affiliation with any of the ROM hack versions of this game.

As for the information relating to v5.0.0, I have run into a major snag in development. To recap, I have been attempting to update this game to Pokemon Essentials v20.1. I knew this would be a bit risky, as Pokemon This Gym of Mine runs on Pokemon Essentials v18.1. And, lo and behold, I ran into an issue. When attempting to load my save, it threw an error after compiling and proceeded to delete my save file... I attempted to run the 20.1 version as a brand new game and it did not throw an error, meaning the issue comes when it tries to load the save.

I know I said that if previous saves were incompatible that I would continue on with version 18.1. However, there are still a number of reasons that I want to update to v20.1 Essentials. So, I decided to ask you guys how I should proceed. At the end of the day, you guys will have to play the game and wait for the update. As such, I want to hear your thoughts. How I see it, there are three ways I can go forward:

1. I can stay with v18.1.
This will require no additional dev time, but glitches such as the weather glitches and level-up glitches will, likely, be permanent issues in the game. In addition, I will lose out on the updated encounter capabilities of v20.1, meaning that any new Pokemon will be limited to newly added areas, and the new Pokemon I add will be limited. In addition, this may cause some Pokemon to be unnecessarily rare, as I cannot directly alter encounter rates in-document.

2. I commit to updating to v20.1, keeping up an updated version of PTGOM 4.0 as a legacy version.
This will require more dev time, but this will deal with glitches such as the weather glitch and the level-up glitch. In addition, this will allow for more robust encounters, potentially balancing out types such as Bug and Steel, which have been reported to be a bit underpowered. Also, I can look into allowing for multiple save files, as doing multiple playthroughs is quite popular in the community so this will make that easier. However, this does mean that this version will NOT be compatible with old save files.

3. I use this as an opportunity to completely overhaul Pokemon This Gym of Mine.
Let's face facts. This game was made 3 years ago, in a rush, and by an amateur game dev. There are a lot of things I had to bandage over just to make the game playable. Even with all the updates, there are still plenty of holes, such as the crazy amount of revenue buildings can generate, the point of reputation and reputation growth not being made clear, some dialogue needing a bit of refinement, and the fact that half of the game's ranks go by over the span of a minute. I could treat this as a chance to truly refine this game. Rebalancing encounters and buildings, giving a reason for ranks 5-7 to exist, amongst other things. In addition, I could look into plugins and resources, such as multiple save files, that could only be added to v20.1. Personally, this would be the route I like to go, but it would add quite a bit of dev time and would not be compatible with old save files. Just like with option 2, the old version of PTGOM will be kept up as a legacy version.

These are the three routes I feel I can go. No matter what, version 5.0.0 content will be included with the update and version 6.0.0 will come some time after. I want to see what you all think, and I am eager to hear your thoughts.

Option 3 for sure, take the time to remake the game into a finished product. We all love to play and would appriciate it.
