Resource Following Pokemon 1.4.1

When all my Pokemon are fainted and I teleport to the Poke Center, my pokemon follow disappears, does anyone know what to do to keep it from disappearing?

When setting up respawn points like the Pokemon Center, you need to include an event that will replace the follower. Just like the initial setup, have a blank event just named "Dependent". If I recall correctly it might need the same event ID as the original event too.

Go to the second page of the Nurse Joy Event and write somewhere

I've fixed alot of issues that the Following Pokemon Script had when being used in v18. I've also added other fixes like the followers Sliding on Ice and Ledge Fixes too. I've also added all of the ALWAYS_ANIMATED to the list for all Pokemon from Gen 1-8. I'd recommend people use this until an official v18 version is released. Here it is.

Also here's a list of Overworld Graphics I have compiled for Gen 1-8 (Upto Urshifu). (These aren't my Graphics, so please don't credit me but credit the individual artists)
Gen 1-5 https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=330824
Gen 6 https://eeveeexpo.com/resources/89/
Gen 7 https://www.deviantart.com/larryturbo/art/Gen-7-Alola-Overworld-Sprites-805455576 (The download is in the description, get the 2x version as it is Essentials compatibile)
Gen 8 https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=429414 (Look at the last post at the end of the thread to resize these to 2x)

Alternatively you can get them from here. Its included in these resource along with other goodies.

Thanks so much Golisopod! I've been remaking HGSS and it hasn't felt like HGSS without a pokemon following along.

Sadly, this did not work properly for me. I am experiencing this error message when I try to trigger the "Dependent" event with the action button. Please help anyone if you know how to fix or what I possibly did wrong.

I've shared a fix for this above. Try using the scrollwheel on your mouse to scroll up and look for the fix.

Hey Gol, found a problem. Sometimes, when doing pbPokemonFollow and the first Pokemon is a form, and possibly when it's female, it appears as the original version (form 0). Just letting ya know ^^ @Golisopod User

Hey! um...Apologies if this is something obvious I missed, but this version of the script refuses to call in any animations in my game? I figured it was just that I had forgotten to add them, but, even after that, it doesn't use them. No glitches or error messages, everything plays fine, it's just missing little emotion bubbles and that feels kind of weird, if that makes sense?

The version of the script here is for v16.2 which is 4 years old now! I'd recommend not using this version and using

I've rewritten almost all of the original Following Pokemon script by help14 and mej71 to be compatible with v18 and take advantage of all the features of it. I've also fixed many of the bugs the original script, added several new features and improvements, and added built-in compatibility with a few common Essentials scripts, all to improve the script vastly from its predecessor.

You should use this version instead.

I get the same error. I already used ur code from the Following Pokemon.txt
Any idea what i might have done wrong? im relatively new to coding, so please excuse my stupidity if it is something obvious.
I Copied all everything (crtl+A) out of your .txt and pasted it into the script. i also followed the other steps from the original post.
Thank you all in advance.

Hey sup. I think this is awesome. But I want to customize my following pokemon even more.
Like, this might get a bit confusing otherwise, so I will explain it in steps:

You push X to open the menu.
You go to your Pokemons tab.
Then you select a Pokemon from your party, like there are choices like Status, switch, item etc. right?
So I want there to be another option in this list of options called "Send out", when you select that option, it sends out the pokemon and it follows you in overworld.
I want it so that you can send out more than one pokemon, your entire party if you so choose. I want them to follow you in a beeline, like how the party follows you in oldschool RPGs like Earthbound or Chrono Trigger.
When a pokemon is "sent out" and is following you on overworld, I want the "Send out" text to be replaced by "Recall"

How could I accomplish all of these things? Could anyone help me?
have you ever figured this out?

This script is amazing and compatible with v18.1, the only problem I saw is when I try to use the surf with HM Item that the surf just doesn't want to work, most likely it must be because of the surf of the following pokemon animation itself and etc. Sorry for my bad english and question

Hey @mej71, everyone!

I think this is an awesome work you've done here. My congratulations!

I've been working on a friend's project lately and found a very little improvement which could be done:

I see you are overriding the pbEndSurf function. And here, although you are storing the original returned value on line 3, you are not returning any boolean!
This makes it harder for people who include their scripts below yours, to add their own customisations by overriding this function.
Maybe, you could add a return ret statement after line 15
pbEndSurf:
Expand Collapse Copy
alias follow_pbEndSurf pbEndSurf
def pbEndSurf(xOffset,yOffset)
  ret = follow_pbEndSurf(xOffset,yOffset)
  if $game_switches[Toggle_Following_Switch] && ret && $game_variables[Current_Following_Variable]!=0
    if WATERPOKEMONCANSURF && $Trainer.party[0].hasType?(:WATER)
      $PokemonTemp.dependentEvents.Come_back($Trainer.party[0].isShiny?,false)
    elsif ALWAYS_ANIMATED_CAN_SURF && ($Trainer.party[0].hasType?(:FLYING) ||
        isConst?($Trainer.party[0].ability,PBAbilities,:LEVITATE) ||
        ALWAYS_ANIMATED_FOLLOWERS.include?($Trainer.party[0].species)) &&
        !(ALWAYS_ANIMATED_EXCEPTION.include?($Trainer.party[0].species))
        $PokemonTemp.dependentEvents.Come_back($Trainer.party[0].isShiny?,false)
    else
      $PokemonTemp.dependentEvents.Come_back(true)
    end
  end
end
