Angelo's sprite isn't quite lined out with the background square on the trainer card.

When Willie says "For real! Let's have a quick battle!", the choices aren't shown above the text box. (Essentials only positions the choices above the text box when the show choice command is used immediately after a show text command, so the label command you've got there is throwing it off)

There's a couple cutscenes where Willie brings Angelo somewhere new, and there's a glimpse of Angelo in the map on his own before the cutscene loads and Willie and Angelo are put in place. (I think it was just the first Pokespot and Crystal Springs)

When Kyan Village is attacked, if the player steps into the outdoor Outskirt Stand map from an interior, the regular music plays for a moment before the Snagem theme starts.

Gonzap's battle theme seemed to have a few seconds of silence at the start, don't know if that was intended for pacing.

If the player saves and reloads before fighting Ardos, there's no music playing on the map. (unless it's reloaded, strangely, like moving to another map and coming back, then it's fine)

Miror B's sprite is cut off at the top.

This is probably a bug with base Essentials' handling of shadow Pokemon, but I figured I'd report it here all the same. It's a bit of a specific scenario, but if a shadow Pokemon with Thief steals a held item from the player's Pokemon, and the player catches the shadow Pokemon, that

I'm not positive this is an error, but I noticed that the Never-Melt Ice, Silk Scarf, and Twisted Spoon are all missing from the vendor that sells type-boosting items.

A few lines of text are too big for the UI - a lot of these are just canon names getting bigger over time, but there's a few that were specific to TotOS. -
  • Brambleghast's name is too long for the databox
  • Shadow Laser's description is too long
  • Electromorphosis is too long for the Pokemon Storage UI
  • The terrain TMs are too long for the mart UI

It looks like you might've used the sprite autopositioner? That has the nasty habit of putting floating Pokemon on the ground.

This also happened with Murkrow, and possibly Dusclops? Couldn't remember how high it usually floats.

Direction fix isn't turned on for this chest, so if you interact with it from the side, it seems to vanish.

Willie's mom still has through turned after the cutscene. (I think it was just left on from a move route, it wasn't left on the event page)

I couldn't walk through the two tiles to my right here? Not sure if that was intentional.

Scents couldn't be used on Shadow Pokemon outside of battle - they didn't display a "won't have any effect" message like when used on a non-shadow Pokemon, there just wouldn't be any message and the item wouldn't be used.

This may just be a limit of working in Gen 4's style, but there's times where sprites will kinda clip over walls into the void.

I think this is just an issue of a space between the periods here?

It sucks because Pokemon has no stylistic consistency with all the Poké- words, but Poké Balls is actually two separate words, and you've spelled it Pokéballs everywhere here. (Honestly... you could probably change the name in items.txt to keep it consistent and nobody would notice, because I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who pays attention to that lmfao)

The font actually got expanded recently in Essentials (either v19 or v20, can't remember when), and smartquotes can be used now, so you could use them where you've usually just got the two 's.

This is a weird quirk of how plural possessive work in English, and I'm not sure I'll be able to explain it well, but you only the apostrophe after the s with a possessive when the s is also making the word plural, so the possessive of "people" is actually "people's", not "peoples'". If that doesn't make any sense, hopefully this site I looked it up on explains it better?

Anyways, I bring that up specifically for these lines -
  • fill up peoples' vehicles when they park - people's
  • If I really want to get everyones' eyes on me - everyone's
  • and started stealing peoples' Pokémon! - people's
(Actually, I'm not sure "people" or "everyone" are technically plural anyways? Like they refer to multiple people, but then terms like "group" are still singular even though they contain ... Anyways at this point I'm just puzzling over my use of the term lol, I just figured that you were doing s' because the words referred to multiple people.)

I've gone and went through with fixing most of these, especially the grammar errors, and I've only got a few more questions/notes before uploading the patch.
  • Fixing Angelo's sprite position is gonna require a tweak of the trainer Card UI, which I'll probably just wait until a later update to do, while Miror B's sprite clipping over the top was intentional to reflect how extremely tall the man is in XD.
  • The "Angelo is briefly shown alone before the cutscene loads" issue was also mostly intentional. Having the travel animation transition straight into a fade into the cutscene (while still leaving it looking smooth) is not something I had the desire to really iron out.
  • The Gonzap battle theme silence was just the result of the healing ME having a long period of silence at the end. Provided the text is gone through more slowly, the battle BGM loads more normally. But this is something I'm gonna fix up regardless.
  • What is the issue caused with Shadow Pokémon + Thief? You didn't finish that part of your post 🤔
  • I'm afraid I have no clue how to fix the Brambleghast/Electric Terrain name length issues without heavily reworking the UI. This is also something I might wait until a bigger update to fix.
  • Scents are working perfectly fine on my end, so I'm not sure what issue you're having with them. I even made sure to test all three of them both in battle and out of battle, and whether debug mode was enabled did not affect it either.

Ah dangit that'll teach me to proofread lol. If the player catches the shadow Pokemon, that shadow Pokemon will still be holding the stolen item, but since stolen held items are returned to the player's Pokemon after battle, the player's Pokemon will also still be holding the stolen item, so it's duplicated. (It's not a major exploit, since this only happens with the one Thievul)

  • Scents are working perfectly fine on my end, so I'm not sure what issue you're having with them. I even made sure to test all three of them both in battle and out of battle, and whether debug mode was enabled did not affect it either.
Hm, I went back and tested, and it looks like I was actually only having this problem with one particular shadow Pokemon, so maybe it was the heart gauge level that was an issue?

I have no clue how I would go about fixing the Thief bug, but since it's a harmless (and beneficial, at that) glitch that only occurs in one instance, I'm not too pressed about getting rid of it.

I did figure out what the issue with the Scents was, though. The Pokémon in question is in Hyper Mode, and the Scent Flag wasn't set for them in the PBS, thus preventing Scents from properly working on them when they otherwise would. It's been fixed, and I'm uploading the new update right now. Hopefully I won't need more.

Odd question but is the nature and stats of Shadow Primarina fixed? I save scummed because its stats indicated she had a SA penalising nature. I tried 3 times and stats all seem the exact same

I'm not sure how Shadow Pokémon stats operate in Essentials, truthfully, but if it's continuously giving you the same stats, it might just predetermine what each Shadow Pokemon ends up with at some earlier point.
There are mints obtainable on Day 4, though, so you'll be able to change it no problem.

Edit: Yeah 4th day you can buy them. Awesome. Does Macho brace take effect if equipped to Shadow Pokemon? Do the other stat braises need to be worn when they win a battle or can you just slap it on when their getting purified and collect easy ?

Also this is actually a really great game, the writing is better than average, the difficulty is harder than avaerage without being try hard bullshit and the variety of mons is great, though im not sure wild mons are worth using but i love experimenting with all the different shadow pokes and shadow moves.

One complaint i will make, its a little frustrating theres no visual effect around the shadow pokemon, so you can forget or miss which pokemon is a show mon and use a shadow move on the wrong mon, though overally this feels like the Coluseum sequal i've been waiting all those years for

Finished it after 7 hours 5 minutes. Final boss kicked my ass a few times till i changed up my team but was a lot of fun. Fantastic game, while shorter than i expected (but hey its ridiculously impressive for a game jam entry) it feels like the sequal we've been waiting for, well done.

Tried a few times with my team of Flygon, Drudgion, Incinceoer, Koalasal, Wobufet, Rimbombee, all shadows. Purified my Primarina after training it a little bit more and brought back Bellibolt and it went a lot smoother. Helped my Drudgion had Outrage. Oddly the bit after was a lot easier but I guess that makes sense.

Oh and

I saw Shadow Dragonite on the pbs. Is this in the game or something yu intend to add later or something you thoguht of putting in and decided against? Maybe you origonally intended to give to Ardos as a counterpart to Edros's Salamenace?

I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

The Shadow Dragonite is just a carryover from the shadow pokemon data left in base Essentials. Shadow Dragonite was already in XD in the first place, though I suppose there is still other Shadow Pokemon with some overlap

Dude, just finished the game and the only thing I positively hated was that it ended too soon. Seriously, 10/10. Great historý, great characters, a pool good enough of pokémon (gen 9 inclused). Congrats on the job, and the fact you pulled all of this on your own is a testament of your talent!
Will be looking forward any future fangames!

Hello just made an account right now to comment on the sheer quality of this game, everythings been amazing so far and i love the art style and how theres literally everything in the game. i was just curious if in future updates follower pokemon would be added? since the models are already there and seen in the purification cutscene

I don't have any plans to add following Pokémon, since I'd have to rework quite a few events to account for them, but I do have another idea in mind for the overworld sprites that I might do in a later update

Amazing game. The game was made with love you can tell. Love the style, the characters, and setting of it wish to know more of the mc and his past and his deal with ultrabeast.

Alors j'ai juste adoré ayant dévoré les jeux originaux , se jeu mérite pour moi d'être mis en avant pour le scénario , l'humour et la durée de vie qui est loin d'être dégueu qu'on se le dise

Petite question par contre est-il possible d'avoir un lougaroc crépusculaire dans le jeu vue que le système jour/nuit n'existe pas et que j'arrive pas à avoir autre chose que le Nocturne XD

En tous cas franchement bien joué et continue comme sa

Some thoughts:
Really really good! I don't have anything bad to say so this will be pretty brief. Just a really nice, clean, polished, beautiful, complete experience! All the many many many animations were super awesome. The plot was engaging even though I've never played the colosseum games. I loved the setting of the Outskirt Stand, a sort of neutral waterhole in a land run by many factions. I loved all the characters, especially my boyfriend Willie. I found the (totally not) sextuplets extremely funny. Balance felt about right for a game that provides a bit of challenge. Shadow Pokemon were cool and I enjoyed all the diverse shadow moves.

I had a blast, you really outdid yourself! Good job!

Watched a couple of older streams and found out there was an issue with the trainer for shadow rematches not showing up in postgame, whoops.
Patch v1.0.13 has been added under the main download link and fixes this issue.

I still have no clue if I am going to make a continuation later down the line, but if I don't, I hopefully shouldn't need to release any more patches.

EDIT: Whoops, had a small oversight and immediately had to do another mini-update
