Created in Pokémon Essentials v18.1 (+MKXP)

Plot
It is by chance one day that you fall into the Honnis Underground, left to fend for yourself with only a single Pokéball. It is through a rather unusual series of events that you find yourself wrapped up in a conspiracy involving the beloved "Baker's Dozen"! Will you save the region from chaos? Will you uncover the secrets of the Honnis Region? Will you beat 8 gyms and the Pokémon League in the process? ...Probably.

The Honnis Region

The Honnis region is a sprawling and diverse land filled with countless different Pokémon and cities filled with all kinds of interesting people and places.

Though it contains countless secrets of its own, its most interesting feature is undoubtedly the Honnis Underground, a vast network of cave systems containing hundreds of Pokémon that cannot be found anywhere else in the region. Pokémon within it are more active than their surface counterparts, and there are some individuals that have demonstrated unusual amounts of strength and aggression.
It is said that the Pokémon within have the mysterious property of 'scaling' to the strength of your party!

Treat Traits

  • Special abilities granted upon consuming specific items, Traits come in a wide variety of effects that can be granted to any Pokémon!
  • Grants varying stat boosts depending on a species' strength, allowing even weaker Pokémon to keep up with their evolved counterparts
  • While a Pokémon possesses a Trait, it loses the ability to evolve via level-up, requiring it to be evolved through the party menu.
  • Through the use of the EZ-Oven and some recipes, you can even craft your own Pokétreats at any time!

It took slightly longer than I'd have liked thanks to me being super busy with work, but as of today, Demo 1 has now been officially released to the public!

Documentation for a lot of the basics (stats, abilities, moves, etc.) has been included in the main post, and I will try to look into making further documentation for things such as item locations at a later date.

Found a very well-hidden bug that resulted in specifically the initial character selection of Player D, Variant 2 turning the player into Player C instead. Since the number of downloads is still pretty low I just went ahead and updated the main link instead of making a patch, since there are still less than 30 downloads and there are 64 possible player options to choose 💀

If anyone still happens to be affected and ends up being assigned the wrong character anyways, just send me your save data and I can fix it up for you.

FIRST SHINYYYY LETS GOOOOOOOO but for some reason i cant post a photo here unfortunately it says i need a link in order to post photos 🎇 Just found an other shiny and guess what ? i didnt have any balls with me

Patch has been posted and the base download has also been updated. The character just has their opacity set to 0, so I fixed the initial issue and your character should return to normal once you step outside of the building.
For future reference, posting files requires they be hosted on another site, such as imgur for images and mediafire or google drive for save files.

EDIT: turns out there's another issue with the player's direction getting stuck. I will update the patch for it but this can also be fixed by starting the challenge again normally and then retiring or forfeiting afterwards

Will it be possible to play this when it's complete or close to complete on mobile via joiplay because I've tried a few times and keep getting errors when loading the game

Unless someone familiar with Joiplay's functionality comes on board and is able to address the script errors it's causing, I doubt it will ever actually work on Joiplay.
Compatibility with the app is incredibly inconsistent across games, and it's difficult to properly develop around when even attempting to run the game on mobile requires extra steps.

I am having fun with this game too i really love those new forms right now i am in route3 doing a puzzle tho and the eevee is so cute idk which to evo to and i choose piplup as the starter got like some shiny mons and i really love it c: does the demo one ends when you get the third badges tho?

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but your past works have been nothing but quality, and this is no exception. There is so much about this demo I loved.

The underground having its pokedex and how it expands with every HM makes getting one not just feel like HMs are for progression, but also for a huge deal more exploration than normal

The treat mechanic is probably one of the most fun mechanics I've played with in a Pokémon game. Weaker Pokémon becoming stronger offensively and/or defensively, making team combinations expand enormously, is so cool and so much more creative than just giving the pre-evolutions the same stats as their evos in other fangames

The regionals and new evolutions are amazing (the multiple shinies are also really cool and i loved the few i did get to see)! I remember seeing the regional leavanny and falling in love with the design a while ago and using it was very satisfying. The new abilities and moves are unique and fun and alongside the treat mechanic, made battling super fun.

The writing is funny and charming, the characters are great, the route and city design are visually appealing and pleasing to traverse, the pixel work is fantastic, and the Pokémon variety is great. It was super easy to build my team with Pokémon that I liked. I loved the MC trainer designs and how you could customize them. I probably missed some stuff, but again, there is so much that I liked.

That being said, the only issue I had with the game is the leveling. I felt I got too high level too fast, even at the start of the game, and it never slowed down until I reached the level cap. Upon getting the gym badge, it reached the level cap again really fast. Almost every rival fight after the first gym I was substantially overleveled, probably by 6-10 levels, even when trying to avoid some trainer fights. Some routes also felt a bit cluttered with too many trainers.

Over all though, the demo was super solid, and after seeing the page mid-last year, I am super glad to have played it. I can tell the full game will be something special for sure

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it.

Leveling being a bit too quick is definitely a fair complaint. I've had issues trying to properly balance it even with level caps acting as a safeguard, to the point where I even nerfed the exp gained from trainers, which didn't really end up easing the issue. And yeah, I probably did go a bit overboard with the trainer count in some sections, I think I will go ahead and try to trim some where it feels fitting.

Out of curiosity, were you using the EXP Share?

Wow I am so happy Voltsy played this. I'm hooked and had to download. I'm upset with myself for not knowing about your work sooner! Also can the starter be shiny, and if so would it appear shiny in the over world or during battle?

Also what's the difference between the shinys (examples), I see gold and red stars? Also when might discord be available? Would love to join it and keep up with updates.

The only battles I've tried to shinylock are ones that can't be caught, so the initial starter can be shiny, but the subsequent encounter you can't catch are unable to.

And the star colors simply signify which of the three shiny types you have. Red is the default, while blue and yellow are custom variations.

I'll probably open up the discord to the public at some point, but I'd need to get actual moderators first.

Ah I see thanks for the response! Now I'm tempted to shiny hunt piplup 😅. Also would love to help any way I can!

Edit: after an hour plus didn't get shiny but I couldn't pass up ha piplup with 31 in sp att so I'll be okay haha

I was
Admittedly, I did forget I could turn it off until after I posted my review 😅, but it most likely would have been a lot better if I had turned it off

Released a small update that tweaks the experience curve slightly, adds a couple of scattered NPCs for mechanical clarification, and most importantly, reworks the 'Tracker' app to work with any Pokémon on the route that the player has previously seen, as opposed to just ones that have only been previously caught.

...Still has the funny effect of causing fishing encounters to be able to appear in the tall grass, but it's funny, so I'm not too worried about fixing it right now.

Is the version suppose to show .4.10 still? I downloaded the full version (MediaFire/patch) was giving me issues to download

Whoops, forgot to change the version number ingame.
I'll fix that as well as the download issue real quick.
Thanks! I appreciate that you have it in there anyways. It helps me a lot with keeping up with updates/patches
