One of my favorite parts of ORAS is how many items in the overworld have flavor text, and the sheer personality and depth given to the cities and people living therein who make the world that much more full of life! But maybe you don't have time to give the incidental NPCs dialogue, but you don't want them to have the same generic tutorial advice only helpful for kids picking up a game for the first time. Maybe you're rightfully focused on the big story beats, but some aspects of your characters just need to be told through environmental storytelling instead! Maybe you want a bit of mysterious dialogue to provoke curiosity or a subtle gag as a reward for explorers!

Enter me, Cecil Emerald! I would love to write your incidental dialogue, your flavor text, your cryptic hints, your item descriptions. I am a published graphic novelist and webcomic artist with a focus on dialogue and tone. While I haven't worked on any Pokemon ROMhacks or fangames yet, I wrote for two short visual novels in 2018 consisting of four routes with 12 individual endings. I also did dialogue and storytelling work on another creature capture rpg project on hiatus called Dobutseiza Yume.

As for rates... I'm only really interested in doing this for fun, for the time being. As long as you can handle a pro-bono response schedule in between my other responsibilities, I'm not looking for payment. I just wanna write.

Here are examples of my work!

tv_txt: It's a movie mom likes. A young boy with a blue sword trains with his kindly master.
stove_txt: Smells like dad's cooking. Are you going to miss his food while you're away?
playerbed_txt: It's your bed! At night, the moon shines on it... Get some rest?
roomposter_txt: It's a poster of the GALAXY RANGERS.
roompc_txt: If you play on your computer, you'll get distracted! This is no time for games!
musicbox_txt: A simple music box. It doesn't work anymore.
roomshelf_txt: These shelves contain all your favorite books from when you were little!

rosebush_txt: Roses. They're your mom's favorite.
azaleabush_txt: The azalea bush is blooming!
homeshrine_txt: The town shrine... Someone's left an offering. Better not touch it!

firecrater_txt: A crater from where a star fell. It pulses with an everlasting heat...
watercrater_txt: A crater from where a star fell. It's turned into a puddle...
aircrater_txt: A crater from where a star fell. The wind whistles through the stones...
earthcratr_txt: A crater from where a star fell. It's exposed peridots to the surface...

ITEMDESC_01: CONSTELLATION KONPEITO, or CON-KON. It heals tired STARBEASTS a little bit.
ITEMDESC_02: STAR JELLY. Not for humans! It heals tired STARBEASTS by a lot.

-"STARBEASTS are amazing! And they decided to be your friend?
"Do they tell you the secrets of the stars?"

-"Your CREATURE COMPACT is so handy!"
"It can carry your STARBEAST friends anywhere you go!"

-"Every living thing has a dream inside its heart, even if they never find out what it is. Well, that's what I think, anyway."
"What's your dream?"

-"If it ever gets too hard, you can always take a break. There's always next time."

-"I always feel well-rested when I sit by a MOONLIT POOL."

-"Ages and ages ago, everyone could understand each other perfectly.
"They tried to build a grand tower to reach the heavens, but it got to heavy to bear its own weight."
"It collapsed into the sea, and all the people fled across the world, where they all made new languages for themselves."
"Now someone may go their whole life without ever truly understanding anyone else."
"As for the tower, well..."
"We're standing on the ruins right now."

-"No matter what happens, there will always be someone cheering for you, even if they can't be by your side."

-"Isn't my garden beautiful? My magnolia tree is in full bloom!"

-"This tea is wonderful! It's my great-grandmother's secret recipe."
"Even though I never met her..."
"I feel close to her every time it warms me up."

-"Everyone in the world... just once, is waiting to hear 'you're the only one who can do it.'"
"Everyone wants to be a hero."
"And if you can find that moment for yourself..."
"You can make your way through anything. No matter how hard."

-"What do you think Starbeasts dream about?"

-"Every fish I catch, my gramps takes a picture of it and puts it in his big book!"
"Someday I'll catch every fish in the Bay and fill the book up!"

-"I make glass windchimes for a living. Now that I'm a father, I get my children to draw on the tags."
"Art is better when made together and shared."

-"What we unearth from these mines goes all over TERRA."
"Coal goes to the Gastown District to fuel their machines."
"Silica goes to Victory City, to be melted into glass."
"Iron goes to the Bay of Babel, where it's wrought onto ships."
"Precious gems go to Peridot Palace..."
"We get what's left."

-"Feeding CONSTELLATION KONPEITO and STAR JELLY to your STARBEASTS will make them feel better."
"I hear there's an old man who makes candy... Do you think STARBEASTS will share?"

-"They say a long time ago, MOTHER STAR found a little orphan girl to raise as PRINCESS of the galaxy, and taught her the magic of the cosmos."
"But no matter how much magic the girl tried to learn, she was forever and always human, and would never master it."
"So she wished upon a star to become something greater than human..."
"She wanted to become an adult."
"I wonder where she is now."

[LOCKED HOUSE DIALOGUE]

-"You want to come in?"
"I understand... With a sky like that, you're afraid of falling up into it, aren't you?'
"Ha... ha..."
"So am I."

-"You're too young to remember a sky full of stars, aren't you? What do the children wish on these days? Fireflies?"

-"I had a nice dream, once."
"You weren't in it."
