Hi everyone who's reading this post. I'm DuuFan, kind of new around here. For the last year, I have been working on a fan game that blends the structure of a Pokémon game with elements of a school life simulator. The main idea is that the player enters an elite academy and navigates their time there however they choose, in a semi-open world with a fair amount of freedom of action.
Instead of simulating "dates" like other similar games, this project focuses on simulating broader interpersonal relationships: friendships, rivalries, strained bonds, distances, etc. The player decides how to behave with each character, with branching dialogues and mild or direct consequences depending on the case.
It's not a linear game, nor does it have a single large campaign. The idea is for the player to create their own path, with multiple events triggered by time, relationships with NPCs, or by attending (or not) certain activities.
It's heavily inspired by a fan game I played in 2012, Pokémon Academy Life, although this project's direction is looser, less romantic, and has a more mature tone.
I'm in the prototyping and world building phase, and it would be very helpful to receive feedback on the overall idea, the relationship approach, and how you see it compared to other fan games.
Pokémon Elite (The name isn't really defined yet.)You’ve won a scholarship to the most prestigious school in the region: Lumiare Academy, where some of the most legendary Pokémon trainers once studied.
You're one of the lucky few who got in without paying a cent, though that might just become a reason for others to look down on you.
Explore the vast grounds of the Academy, interact with students from all walks of life, and get involved with the many clubs and activities the school has to offer. This game is meant to feel like the bastard child of Pokémon Academy Life and a mainline Game Freak title: here, getting along with other trainers can be just as tough as winning a battle.
Talk to people. Get to know them. Decide how to treat them, and deal with how they treat you. Build friendships or rivalries.
Venture into the surrounding forests and caves, and discover the wide variety of Pokémon that bring each area to life.
Core Features & Systems: (Credits at the end of the post)
Note: I didn´t give the full credit list because is not the actual Game Post yet. I am not sure if it works this way.
Media:
The questions in the Intro. That will determinate which starter pokémon of each type you can have. / Voltseon's Pause Menu with the Energy Bar integrated on it. / Iv´s & Ev´s screen.
Warning message for low energy. "Your body is asking for a break." - "You feel like you can't hold on much longer." - "You're on the verge of collapse, you need to sleep." Finally, you will end up fainting, and your Pokémon take you back to your bed. You awake several hours later, and with only 85% of your total Energy. Manage your sleep hours.

Core Features & Systems: (Credits at the end of the post)
- Pokémon Essentials by Flameguru, Poccil (Peter O.) & Maruno
- Starter Selection System. Inspired by the intro of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. At the beginning of the game, the player answers a short series of questions. Based on their responses, the game generates a set of three starter options pulled from the full pool of official starters (up to Gen 9).
- Unreal Time System - by FL. The game features its own in-game clock. Different events happen at different times of day and days of the week.
- An Energy System I made myself. This is my first attempt at scripting a plugin. It forces the player to sleep and prevents them from "binging" the whole game in a single in-game day. It will be polished and possibly shared later as a public resource.
- Modern Quest System - by ThatWelshOne_,mej71,derFischae,Marin. Since the game is intended to be somewhat open-world, quests will be everywhere. I plan to add tons of side quests, where you can lose track of time while earning battle items or even special Pokémon.
- Deep Classes System. Some of the class-related scripts are my own. Classes are not mandatory for story progression, but they offer rewards and progression for those who attend. Each class tracks individual variables: attendance, participation, performance. You can skip them, but you’ll miss out on useful knowledge and experience.
There are eight classes, both practical and theoretical. Covering EVs, IVs, breeding, battle strategy, item usage, and even Pokémon lore. Additionally, there’s one special class focused on a single elemental type, chosen by the player. Once completed, you can switch to a new one. (This is a nod to the original visual novel.) - Clubs and extracurricular activities. Currently implemented (with interactions and quests): Pokémon Nursing Club, Theater Club, Archaeology Club, Fight Club. Planned: Pokémon Breeding Club, Ranger Club.
- Elite Battle: DX - by Luka S.J. and many others. Includes enhanced battle intros, boss fights, scripted battles, and a little surprise saved for the first playable release.
- Following Pokémon EX - by Nononever, and many others. Because we all want our buddy tagging along.
- Mega-Evolutions. Fully functional and also with a little surprise saved for the first playable release.
- Tip Cards - by wrigty12. Used in tutorials and theoretical classes.
- Instant Messages - by wrigty12. Helps build relationships with other students and teachers. Spontaneous messages, reply options, and more.
- Automatic Level Scaling - by Benitex, Joltik, Umbreon. Essential to make the open world feel natural and avoid pacing issues in team progression.
- Item Crafting UI Plus - by ThatWelshOne_, Vendily. Crafting plays a big role in student life. From healing items to more questionable substances, you'll be able to combine materials and create unique items.
- Lin's Weather System - by LinKazamine, Zaldar, Swdfm. Certain Pokémon will only appear during specific conditions.
- Social Links - by wrigty12. Relationships evolve slowly, change over time, and don’t follow a fixed path. Your choices, timing, and consistency matter. Don’t expect everyone to like you, or stay liking you.
- Berry Pots by Caruban. Yes, there’s farming. Yes, you can grow weed. Yes, there’s a blunt crafting system. It’s all optional, but part of the student culture for those who want to dive into it.
- Arcky’s Poke Market by Arcky. A flexible market system that fuels the student economy. Different kinds of vendors pop up. Club-related, seasonal, sketchy, or just convenient.
Note: I didn´t give the full credit list because is not the actual Game Post yet. I am not sure if it works this way.

Vs
Tons of custom Trainer Sprites, ergo, tons of Characters to befriend or to become enemies.
That’s pretty much it for now. I’m still working through the early stages, but I’d love to hear what you think, whether it’s about the systems, the tone, mechanics, ideas or anything that doesn’t make sense. Thanks for reading if you got this far, and I hope the idea at least sounded interesting. Maybe i will upload more media later.
