I spent about two weeks figuring out how the code works so I could make this change, since I didn't find it anywhere I looked.
This is originally based on another's work, found here. Follow the instructions there, and you'll have no problems. It's the Battle_ExpAndMoveLearning tab that you want to place this in. The number signs(hashtags) at the beginning and the end make it easier to find this for later editing or removal...

I intend to figure some more things out, get it to differentiate between evolution stages and types, but I haven't figured that out yet
Can you explain what kind of differentiation you want to have here? As long as you can make the desired behavior you want clear enough, it should be easy to help achieve it.

I'm sorry you had this much trouble with it. Naturally I don't really know what your approach to this problem was, so take this with a grain of salt, but I might gently suggest seeking out Ruby tutorials, or asking for help on one of the Discords.
