(game thread, which all of the info in this post other than the recruitment stuff is pretty much directly copy pasted from)

iwbav is a puzzle game made in rmxp with pokemon essentials v19.1! previously a solo project by myself, but frankly if i want to get it finished anytime this decade i'm gonna need some assistance. apologies if this post is a bit of a mess

Game Summary:
You are Kyuu Komori, and you want to be a vampire!

... What, that's not enough? You want more? That's all you need to know, though.

You're Kyuu Komori and within a month of moving to a new town, you've decided you're going to move out of your completely adequate apartment which is exactly the right size for you and your Pokemon, has a nice view, isn't too pricy, and only a couple minutes' walk away from a corner store, grocery store, and a well-equipped mall with everything you could ever need. Yeah, screw that place. You're gonna go live in that giant creepy abandoned mansion in the middle of the woods. Why? Well, some guys in the local library said a vampire used to live there, duh!

Of course, breaking into this giant creepy abandoned mansion is not the only thing you've set out to do today. If it was just about moving in, you would have done that already.

No, you needed to do something more important first:

Finish crafting the recipe of a potion that probably maybe might turn you into a vampire!!!

(You haven't tested it at all or even made it yet because you didn't know if it would work or not but more importantly you wanted to be in the mansion when you drank it because then what would be the point?)

Basically, your mission is as follows:
  • Break into the mansion. (It's illegal, but no one's looking.)
  • Get acquainted with your new house (because you're stealing it).
  • Explore the mansion and its yard to find ingredients for your potion. (Not all the ingredients are organic!)
  • Clean it up a little while you're at it, since you're going to be living here from now on (after stealing it). The spooky/abandoned/overgrown look is cool and all, but you're a bit of a neat-freak, so actually living with it the way it is would drive you nuts.
  • Create and drink your potion of become vampire, which may or may not work. (You're also going to make an antidote just in case it starts trying to kill you in a way that won't turn you into a vampire. You're naïve, not stupid!)
  • Now that you're successfully a vampire (or not), live in the mansion until squatter's rights kick in and the mansion is legally yours! (Unless the vampire comes back, in which case your new priority will be getting married.)
Now get out there and become a vampire!

Features:
  • Escape room-style gameplay
  • Probably at least one vampire?
  • Puzzles!
  • Lots of flavour text!
  • Lots of bats! You can talk to them too!
  • Hint system in the form of said bats! Each Pokemon has their own thoughts and ideas and will give different kinds of hints.
  • A protagonist who looks like he's got cute bat ears, but that's a deception, his hair just sticks up like that naturally!
  • Two difficulty modes, depending on your Puzzle Intensity Preference (scientists call this PIP); there'll be a plot mode (which, while puzzles will still be present, will be closer to the experience of a visual novel) and regular mode (with all of the original puzzles intact for more of a challenge)
  • An included hint book/walkthrough for both difficulty modes

Looking to Recruit:

COMPOSER(s)
- i put an (s) there, but i really don't know if i'd actually need more than one. i'm not a music guy so i have no idea what would be too much work for just one person, but i DO know roughly how much/what kind of music i need.

here's a quick outline of what we need:
iwbav desperately needs a main menu theme, and likely a credits theme as well; i'd also like to have two character songs, one for the protagonist kyuu and one for the person who previously inhabited the mansion. this could either be four songs or two, because depending on how well it fits i could just use kyuu's song for the main menu and the mansion owner's theme for the end credits. this should be all the original music i need, but that may change later on. i also may need short, simple songs for things like music puzzles.

i'm looking for a sort of cute-spooky sound for kyuu's theme and/or the main menu; something lighthearted that brings to mind vampires, but also halloween and pumpkins and cute cartoony ghosts.
for the mansion owner's theme, elegant-spooky is the way to go; i'll give more info on that once you're on the team, since it's a tad spoilery, but definitely think "classic vampire movie" above all else.

please note: i seriously know nothing about music, so there may be a... language barrier, so to speak, when it comes to discussing/adjusting it, but i'll try to be as clear as i can (you'll definitely at least get a decent sized list of songs to use as a sort of reference point)

as for what gen style.... well, gen 4 or later, i suppose, but the only pokemon music currently in the game is from pokemon super mystery dungeon, not any mainline games.

Contact:
reply to this thread with examples of your work, or dm them to me here on relic castle or on discord at babbage#7010.

in particular, providing examples of the following will be extra helpful for me to figure out if you'll be the right fit for the project:
  • if you're applying for composer and you've made any spooky halloween-y type songs, particularly those of cute-spooky and elegant-spooky varieties, show those off!
regardless of how you chose to show off your work, if you're joining the team then further communication will be done on discord. you'll have to be comfortable with giving me your username on there.

Additional Info/Notes:
  • my timezone is EST, and i'm usually awake from ~8:30am to ~11:30pm. while i might not respond immediately i'm always at least semi-present during these hours regardless of the day of the week
  • if you're also willing to playtest (preferably alongside doing maps and/or music), please lmk! glitches are one thing, but i have ZERO way of testing puzzle difficulty without running them by other people
  • please keep in mind: firstly, i'm autistic, so social stuff... occasionally difficult. sorry if i take a while on the response, but once i get decently familiar with someone i tend to speed up a little
  • secondly, and related to the above, i'm a bit of a jittery fella and i get nervous easily, and the more nervous i get the less sense i make. i also sometimes make no sense when i'm perfectly calm, it's kinda just how i talk. please feel free to ask for clarification if i get confusing
