What are some features you have always wanted to see in a fan game that have never been pulled off?

no clue if this is within your scope, but personally: a new gimmick similar to mega/zmoves/gmax. there's quite a bit you could do, and very surprised no fangames (to my knowledge) have even tried it.

hmm...tough do mean whether they tried and failed/never completed or just never done before? Personally I love games that aren't the same 8 badge format or have different roles/jobs besides just trying to be a champion but there have been past attempts( mostly they don't get completed). However in general pokemon format I'd like more feature that have interactions between you and your pokemon....not like amie(although I did like that the super training and the taking care of pokemon in X/Y and Sun/Moon) but more of giving the pokemon actual personalities that can affect how events play out( Still bitter about the starter choice in the SWSH games where they claimed it mattered and affected thing in trailers). Even if its limited to the starters.

little stuff, things that can relate to the original games but also let's your game more unique
like, in my game you can't but potions, repels, etc, you have to craft them, so the exploration becomes bigger, since you have to look for the items to craft
other unique and little things I saw in fan games, Bushido has katanas instead of HMs, I forgot the name, but there's one with a item that let's you talk with pokémon
these little stuff are so fun and people can be very creative with it ^^

Fixing some weird mechanics - like Pokemon with Poison Heal still taking damage in the overworld. or, even better, making it a player-accessible option, the same as switch or set game mode.

Some fangames put limits on usage of items in battle - this is a good moment.

A "skip professor's spiel and them asking if you need help with controls but still choose character" button!
