    New Map and Boarder Idea

You have to use PSDK instead of Essentials. It still uses RPG Maker when it comes to eventing, but mapping takes place almost entirely in Tiled. If you have never heard of the kit, I made 2 games using PSDK: Battle Spotlight Ghost of Knowledge If you've used Essentials and RPG Maker before...

Will have to wait until it's done! I'd like to have the base game done before releasing anything. That includes no teaser or even screenshots until it's near completion.

Yes, at certain point tileset length adds to the lag. That's why RPG Maker isn't built for this.

    New Map and Boarder Idea

I tried doing something similar back then. Tree placement with no pattern. Put as many variety as possible. The result looks nice, but development-wise it's a time sink. It adds several hours to what could have been done in just one. RPG Maker is also just not suited for this since you have to...

Share some advice you wish you had when you first started developing!

The difference between genius and insanity is how many features you want for your magnum opus of a game. I'd say the sky is your limit.

I am a writer burgeoning with story ideas. Would it be weird to hire a team when all I can contribute is the story?

If you're willing to spend money, it's totally fine. But be prepared for it. Making games ain't easy and it won't be cheap.

Completed Pokémon Battle Spotlight [English & Spanish!]

Thanks to PokeAJ and DemonetizationMan, this game is now available in Spanish! We also updated the game to the latest PSDK version (v26) which came along with more bug fixes and QoL changes. (art by TabletPillow) While this might seem to be the last update for the game, please look forward...

The merit of your idea isn't the issue. If you're making a game, your main goal should be making the game itself rather than the ideas behind it. Because everyone has ideas (region idea, story idea, fakemon idea--you name it), but not everyone is committed enough to turn it into a playable game.

We tested it on our end and it seems good as usual. We haven't updated the link in a few months now, so it's very likely just false positive.

What Makes A Great Pokemon Fangame?

You have to do ALL of the following: Include EVERY Pokemon from Gen 1-9. If you have fakemon, get at least 300-500 fakemon in your Pokedex. Small number is BORING. Regional variants. 8 Gyms format is cliché. It's time to go 18 Gyms, 1 for every type. This is the opportunity to have MULTIPLE...

What should I do with the narrative of my game?

You probably can go with any narrative. What you should look out if you're just starting out, however, is something else:

We prefer to keep the project under wraps. So probably the best way to get update is to join the dev team ;) But we made another game as proof-of-concept for what would replace gym battles: --> https://reliccastle.com/battle-spotlight/ Some characters from Battle Spotlight will be used for the...
