    Yes, at certain point tileset length adds to the lag. That's why RPG Maker isn't built for this.

    The merit of your idea isn't the issue. If you're making a game, your main goal should be making the game itself rather than the ideas behind it. Because everyone has ideas (region idea, story idea, fakemon idea--you name it), but not everyone is committed enough to turn it into a playable game.
