In regards to Trial VI, I'm trying to get a feel for what a mid-game route should look like. For example, the post says they're neither "too long or too short", but all of the longest routes in the games are what I would consider "mid-game", like Hoenn's Route 119. Do you have a frame of reference, like what the number range for mid-game route's typically is? I think that'd probably help me visualize it. Thanks!
Yeah, Route 119 is probably the biggest for what I'd consider a mid-game route should be, while Route 113 is probably a bit small.

Ok, awesome - thanks for the quick reply! I'll aim for a happy medium somewhere between the two.

This trial was easily one of the most fun times I've had mapping; I feel that a lot of game devs/mappers get caught up or stuck in the early portions of their projects, and therefore never get to the point where they're able to explore the types of maps they see in the later stretches of the official games; myself included! Not only did this trial push me out of my comfort zone, but it forced me to take a look through the official games and get in the heads of the designers who made the more memorable routes of my favorite regions.
It was also wonderful to see the creative ideas of the other participants, especially Streetie, who I'm honored to share the champion spot with!

I can't wait to see what comes next Trial, and good luck to everyone who plans to participate in this year's Game Jam! 💛💛💛
