Hi! I'm Mirage, and i am glad to finally publicly show off Pokemon Amethyst! Pokemon Amethyst was made in RPGMaker XP with Pokemon Essentialsv21.1 Pokemon Amethyst aims to capture some of the more traditional elements of Pokemon, I've been channeling as much Sinnoh Energy as i can into this project while also trying to keep it original! I will now list off some Traditional and slightly more unique features!

Traditional:

  • Traditional Gym Challenge, Upon the completion of Pokemon Amethyst, there will be 8 Gyms, nicely paired with an Elite 4 and Champion.
  • Evil Team! During the events of Pokemon Amethyst, you will bump into and attempt to take down the Mysterious "Mute Crew"* and you may have help from a familiar face!
  • Pokemon Professor! As you start your journey, you will receive a starter directly from Professor Alto, He will set you on your way and will appear a few times along your journey! and get himself into trouble!
Slightly More Unique:
  • Sound Type! While the sound type is not a unique idea by any means, I will constantly be trying my best to do something different with it, and this time around, it's front and center!
  • Earth Type! The Earth type, also not unique, but is seen quite a bit less than Sound, my Earth type is simply Rock and Ground combined, eliminating those two types. i used MandJTV's Earth Type video as a base!
  • NRG Pokemon! NRG Pokemon are Enraged [e(N)(R)a(G)ed] Energy [e(N)e(R)(G)y] Pokemon, They are un-catchable and are stronger than their 'normal' counterparts, they act as boss battle and are almost a mix between Shadow Pokemon and Totem Pokemon!


Plot:
In Adano's Distant past, there was a Powerful Pokemon sent forth by Arceus to bring Music and Entertainment to the lands, legends state that this Pokemon could sing the most beautiful and soothing songs, and could both Heal and Damage with it's voice, This Pokemon is said to be the first to carry the Sound typing. In the present day, however, this Pokemon was found and captured, being used for evil purposes, it's magical voice able to put Humans and Pokemon alike to sleep permanently, forced to live in their dreams and nightmares for eternity... who or what could be controlling the Mystical Voice of the legendary Pokemon? and can you put a stop to it?.


Everyone's Gotta Gimmick:
Did you understand that reference? well fret not, because Pokemon Amethyst's Gimmick is Mega Evolution! at the time of writing this post, there are 19 Mega Pokemon, and more are planned! including PLZA Megas and Repurposed Gigantamax Pokemon!

Mega Story?:
Mega Evolution in Adano is restricted to those who can pass a series of trials, a Mega Ring fit with a Mega stone is gifted to the participant should they win.

While anyone is free to attempt the trials, few succeed, leading to only the most powerful trainers in the region being able to Mega Evolve their beloved Pokemon!

However, Mega Stones can often be found in the wild or in the Black Market, so don't be surprised if you're fighting evil corporations and gangs and they Mega Evolve their Pokemon without authorization from the AMP League.




The AMP What?:
The AMP League, short for the Adano Mega Pokemon League, It is the primary body of the Elite Four and the Gym Challenge, it fills the same role as your regular Pokemon Leagues from other Pokemon games!

Hey! Just finished this and figured i'd post my list of bugs, general issues and suggestions in here. Great base for sure tho, quite like a bunch of things done!

1) The Pokemon Center healing machine only shows up to 4 balls regardless of whether you have 5 or 6 party members
2) Inside specific rooms/buildings, you can just about see other rooms in the corners if you are in fullscreen mode
3) The Professor is non interactable during the beginning of the game until you deliver dad's parcel. Feels odd that not even dialogue can be triggered
4) Some typing errors (e.G. Upper and Lowecase during sentences etc.) across the board
5) I get the idea, but why is the Professor's Nephew as a Gym leader so damn Edgy? It even feels forceful and not natural too
6) The Jasper Gym fight has no sprite for him? It transitioned into an odd 3 second staredown of a Pokeball on the ground into first mon spawn
7) Even after catching the yellow driftloon, the quest doesnt update/complete which feels wrong?
8) The mining minigame is awesome, tho i'd like an indicator which button actually swaps to the other tool on the UI
9) Overworld mons being a pain by blocking your path, ESPECIALLY in caves is annoying
10) Why are the encounter rates so high despite overworld mons existing? I could not go more than 2 steps 99% of the time without encountering something
11) When using the Super Rod, the players sprite swaps to Gold
12) The Status Effect display sprite in the Party menu is glitched, it shows the lower half of the current status effect and the upper half of another status effect
13) While I do like the idea that Shinies are more relevant and present in the game's progression, having so many shown or thrown at you feels underwhelming
14) Why are we back to HMs :( Key Items that act as enviroment-interact things you unlock are just way less restricting
15) The Purple square things that point you towards you next main story location might be a tad too "hand-holdy", not to mention they look out of place
16) Pikachu has his Anime cry when it faints, but not as a battle cry etc. Seems odd
17) When catching the regional variant (I assume) of HootHoot, the Dex entry that spawned during battle showed the regular variant
18) It seems pointless to have both your Dad and your Bed upstairs heal you, especially since the former just relocates you anyway
19) The AI could use some improvements. It constantly tried to use Normal type moves against my Ghost types in a row or Water moves against my Water types
20) The SFX that play during Grass movement are a bit annoying due to Overworld mons triggering them too
21) Is there a time where the shop guy doesnt spawn anymore? I entered the second tows mart (where 2 cashiers are), left and the re-entered. The bottom one was just permanently gone
22) The Test Double Battle guy in the Forest Area at the end of the Demo stays permanently, and if you run into wild battles with him the game crashes with an error. So i can't even properly explore some areas i've missed anymore
23) I get that trying to shove the sound type to many mons is something you feel you need to do cuz it's a main focus of this fangame, but some defo could be reverted to their original typing I feel like

Overall, great job. Enjoyed my playthrough regardless of some issues mentioned above. Can't wait for what the next versions will bring. Cheers

the second shop keep is supposed to disappear after the parcel quest but its not working as intended,

ill try my best to give Jasper/Nephew a better attitude, i'm just not a great writer.

things like the fishing rod and point 2 are simply oversights, that's my bad,

typing errors is just a me thing, ill fix those at some point

Pikachu having its anime cry when fainting surprised me too, i didn't add that myself.

were back to HMs as i wanna go for a more traditional experience, but the original plan was HM Items, im just still working on it.

Hoothoot is a known issue and i'm too stupid to figure out whats going on with that rn lol.

Thanks for the in-depth response! One thing I wanna quickly go into, as it may be the one thing from my first comment that sounds unreasonable, is the sound types and their distribution. Lemme give one specific example to try and explain what I'm worrying about:
- Zubat, Woobat and Noibat all 3 could fit into the Sound category due to being Bats that use Echolocation. But wouldn't it be pretty boring an uncreative to take that approach for all 3? I suggest leaving the Zubat line alone while swapping Woobat -> Swoobat to Sound/Flying and Noibat -> Noivern to Sound/Flying -> Sound/Dragon respectively

I'd have to see the entire list of mons you swapped and plan to swap to properly judge it from my side tho, so don't take it at face value. Just something I wanted to mention because many people overextend with plans to introduce a new type and tend to "force" it on some mons

I suggest leaving the Zubat line alone while swapping Woobat -> Swoobat to Sound/Flying and Noibat -> Noivern to Sound/Flying -> Sound/Dragon respectively

I'd have to see the entire list of mons you swapped and plan to swap to properly judge it from my side tho, so don't take it at face value. Just something I wanted to mention because many people overextend with plans to introduce a new type and tend to "force" it on some mons

Thank you, when you put it that way i 100% agree, and i will likely take your advice.

in the Pokedex doc linked at the bottom of the post you can see all the Pokemon that have had types swapped to Sound, this is likely the complete list as i currently have no plans to add more sound type Pokemon (since i already agreed that there were too many!) Ive already taken your advice and changed some of the typings there! (Other than Maracus which has sound type in my files but has gone under my radar until now)

i will create a document listing specifically, Sound Type Pokemon and Moves pretty soon!

I'll also note that the Woobat line isn't (or shouldn't) be in Pokemon Amethyst, so i've just followed your suggestion for the Zubat and Noibat lines!
