Game Title: POKÉMON MYSTIQUE

As a member of the Weather Institute, you must journey to the Eienn region, where abnormal weather has been spotted throughout. Investigate, fight ravaging Pokémon, solve the mystery, and save the day!
This game contains a plotpoint from the Pokémon Horizons anime. If you're avoiding spoilers, do not play until you reach the Mega Voltage arc (when Ult and Lucario show up). This arc is not yet dubbed.

features:
•a handful of pokémon from all gens available to show off (harsh sunlight and hail) weather effects!
•you're given several starter pokémon from your boss! check your box when you're first able to :)
•time-of-day evolutions don't need it to be a certain time of day. split time-based evolutions occur by making your pokemon hold a sun or moon shard (ex espeon/umbreon).
•freedom to nickname whatever through the party menu (including traded pokémon!)
•a free move relearner/deleter in the first town!
•easy access to every poké ball, evolution stones, and berries through specialty shops.
•most if not all comfort features from poke-emerald expansion (such as the physical-special split)

Made Using: pokeemerald-expansion! This is a romhack :)

Team: just me, @mils !

Download Link: link. remember to patch it to Emerald (u) (Trashman)!
Notes:
you can rebattle some trainers and they have no line-of-sight (which is an intentional sacrifice due to bugs in normal trainer battles...)

Version 1.0.1 - fixed the title screen palette! trade evolutions are now fully tradeless (so you can evolve that porygon2)! castform will now also change forms in the overworld. some minor tweaks have been made too.
Version 1.0.2 - cutscene, dialogue, collision, and general bug fixes. you'll now also start the game with a gen-6-style exp. share which is off by default - it can be enabled through the key items menu. if you have an earlier save, you can talk to the woman in the greenhouse to be given one.
Version 1.1 - final gamejam build. consolidated the tileset, which has fixed tileset animations and some graphical issues. changed the brume parkway layout a bit as well as hidden item areas. made a custom texture for the beach towels in estiview. added some trainers to estiview meadow. you can't run from bosses anymore to fix a bug. and finally, added a cutscene trigger. when loading old saves, you might need to leave the area for things to look right.

how to patch this game the was no way to explaining it. like what patcher did you use the file had .ppf extenstion file name.

Hi, I've started playing your game! So far it feels very unique the way you start with a lot of Pokemon already available to you and enough money and items to essentially make whatever team you'd like, which is fun.

I've not progressed much so far, I've just been exploring the world. It is nice how you free you are to explore at first, though I'm unsure how much I was intended to be able to explore? It feels like you get thrust into this story midway through without much guidance on where to go or what you should be doing.

One gamebreaking bug I've found however:

If you run from the Ninetales fight, leave the map and come back it is considered as beating it and you can progress with the story. Probably best to make it so you are unable to run.

Hi, I just finished playing the game and wanted to share some of my thoughts. Overall an enjoyable and sufficiently challenging experience that maybe could've done with a few more minutes in the oven (but considering this is a jam game, completely understandable)

Edit: Some of this may not be relevant anymore as I played on v1.0.2

  • I thought the difficulty for the main fights was very well balanced. Both of the wild bosses took me multiple attempts to beat but the game gives you plenty of tools and options to build a team capable of winning which was very fun to try and solve the puzzle of how to beat this overpowered Beast.
  • The fact that the powered-up Pokemon damage themselves if they fail an attack was a fantastic addition. It adds another layer to your decision making as you can make use of predictive switches and use of protect a lot more to your advantage. It was very fun to play around with this mechanic.
  • The overworld following sprite for Castform changing its form depending on the overworld weather was a really nice touch.
  • There's a few interesting buildings not found in base Emerald which were cool, namely the greenhouse and the outside balcony in Estview city.
  • I liked how the story unfolded, at first seemingly just some kind of natural disaster but then revealed to actually be some new techology, which you discover as a result of your rival using it.
  • I didn't notice any major typos in any of the dialogue, which is really impressive for a jam game!

  • It was nice that you were given the freedom to explore straight from the start, but you have to beat the Ninetales first to progress and there isn't really anything else of interest to do before that fight, so I ended up just grinding against wild Pokemon which isn't particularly interesting. The gauntlet before Abomasnow was perfect for levelling up and testing out your team but maybe there could've been some of this before Ninetales as well?
  • Speaking of exploration, I'm sure this was just down to the game jam timescales but the world outside of the towns felt pretty empty. You're given the ability to surf but I never found anything of interest from surfing really. I was also given rock smash but never found any areas only accessible by using rock smash?
  • It was an interesting decision to give a large proportion of the trainers in the game a strategy revolving around inflicting confusion. I personally don't find this to be a "fun" kind of difficulty as it just means every turn is a coin flip, but this may just be personal preference.
  • This one is definitely just due to game jam time constraints, so I completely understand, but I felt the story ended very abruptly. Just losing one fight being enough to convince Spinel to end operations in the region was a bit unbelievable. I do understand it is difficult to satisfyingly wrap up a story in a jam game though.

  • A lot of the overworld trees have priority errors when stood behind them, example:

  • Trainers do not notice the player, you can only battle them by talking to them - just noticed in the notes that this was intentional!
  • I think this is just a limitation of rom-hacking, but a lot of graphics break when you move between outside maps (maybe this is now fixed looking at your latest patch notes?), examples:

    I2EVgRe.png
  • I saved in the final room before battling Spinel and could then not leave the room. Luckily my team was able to beat him or I would've been softlocked.

This was my final team in case you were wondering!
