Provisional Project name: "The Weapon"
Hi! I'm Azoth, a gamedev student that has been forced to stop my studies due to health complications. Despite this, I'd still need something to do, and I've decided to create a pokemon fangame. Maybe as practice for a future non-pokemon monster taming game.
Looking to recruit: Spriters, Scripters and Mappers. Additionally Artists if you're interested.
Game Kit / Engine
I'm open to using the following:
-Pokemon Essentials (PokemonRMXP)
-PokemonStudio (PokemonSDK & Pokemon RMXP)
-Legacy Unity Pokemon Kits
(Though I think the best bet is to use Essentials or Studio, since they are more developed and wide-spread)
Project Description:
In a custom region taking elements from multiple cultures, a mysterious organization, Team Atom creates “The Weapon”, a pokemon of immense power which they soon fail to contain. Now, the organization will stop at nothing to recover the weapon, and with its existence now known, many others will engage in a race to obtain it.
You are an agent of Interpol, who was caught while investigating Team Atom from the inside and managed to escape alongside the weapon. Now you must prevent others from obtaining the weapon and free it’s heart of the uncontrollable rage which it was created with. Along the journey you'll face diferents factions battling for the power of this mysterious pokemon.
Note:
While the tone of the game would be somewhat more mature, the game is to refrain from being edgy and must adhere to general guidelines that you would expect from a pokemon game.
(No direct death, firearms, blood, etc. | Use destruction and reference to injuries or general chaos instead, think 5th and 6th gen)
Desired Features:
-Fakemons
-Beast Type (?): A new type, more “feral” counterpart to fairy and dragon. Added to existing pokemon as well.
Taming and the role of Trainers
An interesting theme to explore would be the role of a trainer. Pokemons can fight by themselves, why team up with humans? → New mechanics that you would expect from a “training”, such as:
-Diet (A way to influence stats and healing in a more natural way)
-specific (Non battle) physical and mental preparations and training (Exercises to learn new moves, change abilities, etc.)
-strategies (In-Battle Techniques, Think along the lines of agile and strong style in Pokemon Legends Arceus)
-camping (Secret base like system. Where do trainers rest while outside cities?)
