Pokémon Shade Sentinel is a short game made with Essentials v21! Set in a so far unnamed region based on Andorra, you play as a unique trainer returning home after conquering the Kalos League.
Long ago, a mysterious calamity shook the region. From the foggy mountains, a terrifying beast emerged. Commanding an army of powerful ghosts, it attempted to lay siege to the town. However, an unexpected hero would emerge and save the region from total destruction. This great myth would be celebrated through the Grand Festival, an annual cultural celebration held in the region.
You play as Thea, a skilled trainer who was born and raised in this very region, before setting off toward Kalos for an adventure of your very own. To your surprise, the international Pokemon League institution have decided to develop the region to build a new Pokémon league. With an Elite Four established, you would make it your goal to become the Champion of your home region also! However, your little brother Iggy has just started his adventure, and has decided to make you his rival! Can you challenge the Elite Four and become Champion of this great region? Or will your brother narrowly assume victory?
And all the while during this excitement, a weakened Pokémon comes to you for help! Who is this strange Pokémon, and could they be connected to the Grand Festival myth?
- A higher threshold of difficulty, with all wild Pokémon starting from Lvl 60-75.
- A (mostly) new Elite Four!
- A regional Pokédex containing Kalosian and Paldean Pokémon, as well as some new Fakemon!
- An optional "Exp All" Key Item for your team.
- Gen 4 stylised graphics!
- A small postgame with more available Pokémon!
- A Bird-Catching Contest! Based on the Bug-Catching Contest in Johto.
- A few optional boss battles!
- Mega Evolution and Terastallization! (Please note you can't use both mechanics at the same time!)
- Stellar Type!
In terms of recruitment, here are the following roles I'm looking for:
- Spriter: For custom tilesets, Fakemon sprites, trainers and possibly even cutscenes!
- Programmer: For slightly more complicated scripts and events, including a dual Mega Evolution and Terastallization system, events such as the Bird-Catching contest, and much more!
- Composer: Someone who can create music for the game!
- Overseer: To check if dialogue makes sense, if sprites are up to scratch, and if code works! You will also be overseeing details such as the regional dex and other aspects of the game to ensure everything is fair and well-balanced.
I hope to have this game complete before the end of 2024, or at the very least before the end of 2025!
I also hope to keep the game relatively small in scope, with the main campaign being around 8 hours or so in length.
Finally, if possible I would also like to implement a single player Raid system, similar to the Tera Raids in Pokémon Violet, where you would team up with NPCs to defeat special Pokémon! This would be a fun way of adding certain legendaries, such as the Kitakami legendaries, without screwing up the lore.
