Making New Mechanics in Essentials for Shadow Pokemon

Hey, I'm working on an Orre hack that revolves around Shadow Pokemon. Without piling on the details, my short-term goals require changing how the Heart Gauge and Hyper Mode work.
  • I'd prefer the Heart Gauge continuously react up/down depending on a Pokemon's move choice. Normal moves should lower the gauge; Shadow Moves should increase it.
  • I'd like to implement a transparent, segmented "Hyper Meter" that leads to various "Hyper" states. It should be discrete, rising in segmented increments based on its user's Shadow Move type-effectiveness; it should reset between battles.
If anyone has insight on how I could tinker with Essentials to something approximating these ends, I'd greatly appreciate it!
