Hello everyone!
I am looking for developers willing to work on the aforementioned game.
While I have already made a semi-complete, bite-sized jam game with the same title, that uses a unique surfing feature and an overworld eventing system...
...I think it has enough potential to be made into a fully-fledged, big region game.
Due to time constraints, and focusing on the main game in the PS series, I won't be able to take an active developer role - but I will cover the audio side. I have done extensive research into unearthing authentic midis, which I remastered to create a unique Soundtrack. I will continue to add more.
Youtube has been spamming me with "What if Greece was a Pokemon region" for ages now. I think the diversity and aquatic focus of the region is really suitable for a conventional Pokemon game, so I can understand why the demand might be high. So, if you want to get involved, and finally make Youtube shut up, feel more than free to join!
Let's go over the positions we'll need, and in our case the tools:
Experience is desired, but not required. Your skills aren't what matters the most, your dedication and perseverance are. Priority will be given to more experienced devs, assuming I can verify that in some way, but as long as you are willing to learn, we should be good. Mapping in particular is the hardest thing to learn fast, and there is a chance we might use Tiled instead of RMXP if we stick with PSDK, so that has a bit of a higher bar of entry. More details below.
There is already a translator aboard, one that can use Polytonic (I have my reasons), for you Greek-speaking folks out there. If you are "in" on the Polytonic side, you can also contribute. However, if you like the Erasmian or Reconstructed pronunciation, you shall be banished into the depths of hades, forever.
The Engine I used for the jam game, is PSDK. I've chosen it because of the ability to zoom out when the player is using the boat, and be able to have a humongous map with a big layer of autotiles, with barely any FPS slowdown. That's right, the entire sea is just one big map. Depending on the developers' experience and tool knowledge, we could use either Essentials or PSDK, but the boat mechanic would definitely not look nearly as good. There are pros and cons to either engine, so this isn't set in stone for now.
The main idea is to use a unique sailing system for the sea and underwater portions, but also include normal land gameplay. The setting is expected to be in post-war recovery Greece, mainly because the unique soundtrack is best suited to that era. It also allows for simpler, and cleaner aesthetics.
I will provide you with some screenshots below, but better check the jam game to get a good grasp of what the game can be like. Press "Elpis" on my signature.

Please leave any inquiries below the thread. You can join the discord by hitting the discord button on the Elpis thread if you need to, but I would prefer using this thread for now.
Take care!

- Mappers
- Spriters
- Tile artists
- A designer that likes underwater segments and IGN review remarks about water
