i decided to open this thread since i didnt see a PT thread in this forum, so here goes...

Pokken Tournament, how does everyone feel about it?

does it need more characters? more moves? more depth in some way?

your thoughts here...

as for my answer, i really dig the idea of a Pokemon Fighting Game, Hitmon Jam was an awesome Game Jam entry, i played Type:Wild quite a bit (still have the game in my hard drive) and while i havent played PT, i like the idea very much.

Fighting Types and Fighting games i am quite a fan of, in fact i used to play MUGEN back in the day, when it was popular, before i lost all my MUGEN stuff...

now like i said i havent played PT, but even without playing it, i know i already want more fighters in the game, always been a "the more, the merrier" type when it comes to fighting games, and with all the Fighting types out there alone, the roster could be so much bigger.

Pokken Tournament's a blast! It's so fun to use moves outside of a turn-based system and see how different they look without identical animations!

My one problem with the gameplay is that new fighters were updated to the arcade version, but not to the WiiU version. It just doesn't make sense from any perspective. The arcade machines aren't making more money than WiiU versions-coins dispensed in the machine go to the arcade's profits, not Namco and Game Freak. It doesn`'t pull in more customers-there was only one arcade machine that appeared outside of Japan (and it didn't last long), while Pokken Tournament for WiiU can be bought in North America, Australia, and Europe. And it's not a hardware issue-there's no way an arcade machine has more storage space than a WiiU. So why the heck didn't they?

The story was surprisingly really good-they had an in-universe explanation for why Pokemon battles aren't like this worldwide, and the Mewtwo plot was really fun! (and it could completely fit in with the main games, too!) I keep getting the feeling that it's going to somehow tie in with Orre-the Switch version is called DX, and there's a plot with a Shadow Pokemon? C'mon, that's gotta go somewhere!

well it's called DX which is short for Deluxe, but it would be cool if they did make it canon with Pokemon XD, as i enjoyed my adventures in Orre.

Bandai-Namco also operate a lot of their own game centers where Pokken machines are in Japan.

Why the characters reamined exclusive to arcades before now is probably simply because support for the Wii U as a software platform was rapidly winding down by the time that Pokken came out - Nintendo didn't see the benefit in throwing those dudes out rather than leaving them as exclusive content for the Switch port that was probably being considered shortly after the Wii U game came out.
