Hey! I'm a freshman college student with arguably too much time on his hands who recently discovered fangames and ROM hacks. While looking for games to play, I noticed a general lack of games made in the school setting, which disappoints me a little since I think there's so much potential to be found. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for any type of school setting whether it be games like Persona, Anime or TV shows and with my first college semester done, as well as my desire to make a game growing, I decided to go about making a game of my own.
The game will be split into 4 years, spanning the players freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year. The majority of the game takes place on different campus' allocated to each class. The northern campus, which belongs to freshmen, is where you and the rest of the freshmen will stay and attend classes. Along the way you will befriend and meet other students who will act as companions, rivals, love interests, mentors and more.
I really wanna go for a Persona style game, including an affinity system with characters, differing routes for interactions to take, etc. Nothing so far that drastically changes the overall story, but significant enough to have consequences regarding characters. Certain Pokémon or items locked behind certain characters as an affinity reward. I'd be lying if I said I don't take a certain level inspiration from other fangames such as Pathways or Little Academy, but I want to expand on the idea and really flesh it out. The game will feature an interactive week system where classes, NPC's and details around campus change depending on the day of the week.
The game is made using Gen 5 sprites and will feature Pokémon up until gen 8 although will be pretty limited past gen 5. I'm primarily recruiting for the creation and implementation of character and Pokémon sprites (I struggle with this terribly lol), although any help would be appreciated. Below are just a few of the completed locations where the game will take place to give a little bit of an idea of the environment. These, along with 3 other areas were created in the span of a week
Looking for: Basically everything
-Spriters to work with all things gen 5 (Front, back, overworld, battle, Pokemon)
-Mapping coordinators (I do really well with this but more help is always appriciated. Again, with gen 5 tiles or HGSS as I know certain tiles fit quite nicely together with gen 5. With the overall scope of the game, this should shortest and arguably easiest part. We'll be making a large college campus, not an entire region)
-Overworld polisher (Add various characters and interactable to give the campus a dynamic and lived-in atmosphere.)
-Event coordinator (The game will follow a static-ish story. I'd like for certain choices to affect the aspects of the game such as who battles the player, or what Pokemon they may have. So far, nothing super crazy is planned)
