Pokémon Nightsoil
- Project Title: Pokémon Nightsoil
- Looking to recruit: Programmer, Musician
- Team Members: Me (Sprite Artist, Designer, Writer, Mapper, ect.)
- Kit used: Essentials
- Project description: A faithful but quirky Gen 5 styled fangame.
- Plot outline: Old 40 year old guy wins a Pokémon at the carnival and goes on an adventure with it.
- Unique features: 200+ Fakemon, new region designed to be more open so the player can explore at their own pace, Hemo type, no stock Pokémon or regional variants
With that out of the way, Nightsoil is a passion project I've been working on for the past 3 years and I now think it's time to finally make it playable. As a middle-aged man with an insatiable itch for adventure, you must explore the post-cataclysm region of Enriko, braving the harsh environment and usurping the sterile, foreboding Team Still. This game is intended to be a return to Pokémon's roots intended to revive that long-dead nostalgic feeling of playing Pokémon for the first time that Gen 5 excelled at. No Pokémon you're familiar with, and no regional variant bloat, only 200+ original Fakemon to discover and train (yes, they have cries too). There's also the new Hemo type, encompassing all that is bloody or organic, if you're a fan of that sort of thing. The game will have a semi-mature, darker artstyle, with less cute animals and more disgusting monsters. Lots of worms too.
I don't like asking for help publicly, especially since most of what I have to share is just art, but I simply can't be bothered to work with Essentials' PBS files; they actually give me a headache, not to mention I'll likely need someone to program for me regardless, if I want the project to be something worth caring about. Because of this, I'm looking for help.
I'm specifically looking for:
- Programmers (High Priority) - At the very least, someone who can work with the PBS files for me. This is the one thing I can't do myself.
- Musicians - I can compose, but not frequently or regularly. Having a completely original soundtrack would be nice but it'd be impossible for me to manage that alone.
- Writers - The plot is written out, but it'd be nice to have someone write cute NPC dialogue for me since I'm terrible at that.
- Movepool Writer/Balancer (dunno if there's an official term for this) - Someone more familiar with the techy competitive aspect of Pokémon to make better movepools for my 'mons. I don't even know what half of the Pokémon moves do, since I play these games casually, so having someone familiar to handle this part of the game would be wonderful.
- Sprite Artists - I have the pixel art covered, but having someone to do the trainer sprites or help me churn out 200+ backsprites would be sweet.
- Mappers - I also have this covered, but like with pixel art, having someone help me make enjoyable map layouts would help alot.

As for something more impressive, some Fakemon designs. Not all of them, I hate spoiling things, but here's a bunch to show off what I'm actually good at.

As for method of contact, I'd say joining the Discord server is your best bet. It's old and unused, but it'll get the job done. Here's a permalink: Here!
From there you can contact me directly. I'd rather not put my discord tag in here directly, because chances are I'm going to ignore a friend request from some rando, and my DMs are open, so join the discord and DM me from there.
Any help is appreciated, but as stated, I need a programmer, or at the very least, someone to help me get through the misery that is editing the PBS files. Thanks in advance, and at the very least, I hope you all liked my dumb pixel art!
