Important Info:
Title:
Pokémon Umbra
Engine: PSDK (RPGMaker XP devkit)
Team Members: Invatorzen (director, coder), ThePickyPixelArtist (co-director, lead pixel artist, pokemon concepts), Adar (metadata, pokemon concepts), PrincessPhoenix (pixel artist), Jerry (sugi artist, pokemon concepts), Rhyden (composer), SleepLate (UI designer), Antiant (sprite animator), Sniper (mapper), Slucid (translator)
Recruiting: Mapper - Able to map in RMXP with 4th gen styled tiles, Composer - Ideally able to use an official Pokémon soundfont, but not necessary, Pixel artist - Focus would be on detailed battle backgrounds, Custom cries - The game uses entirely new Fakémon, we would like to have all new cries for them, Animator - Able to make gen 5 styled animations with cut up sprite sheets given to you
Additional info: This project is pretty ambitious no doubt, we've been working on it for a few years now and still have a lot to do. We're aiming for a demo this year, but if we can't do it we aren't going to beat ourselves up over it. We have a lot of talented people on the team, we just all get super busy and things get stagnant for a bit. We are all super dedicated to the project though.

Introduction:
You may or may not known me already, I used to be a lot more active in the community when I was younger as "buttjuice." You may have even heard of the project before, it's not like we've steered away from posting on social media and hid in the shadows scared of nintendo's ninjas. But, assuming you've never heard of Umbra, here we go - Pokémon Umbra was started in early 2018 with some of my friends and was an entirely different game than it is now. Now, we've become a fully Fakémon project, with tons of new characters, in a new region. We wanted to focus on feeling like a real world, adding in a friendship mechanic and making your choices really matter. Allowing you to befriend your rivals and learn more about them during your journey, the choices you make will also affect the available choices throughout the game and possible endings as well. The region is meant to be a melting-pot of different cultures, which we hope to show off to players as they explore Vereshad. We are surprisingly still in early development, working on the first gym town now, but we have thought ahead quite far with the story. We know what we want to do with the project, so that should make things a little less daunting. At it's core, the game is supposed to feel like you're playing a regular Pokémon game but with a bit more detail into the characters and their development. We aren't trying to introduce any new crazy game mechanics (mega evos, z-moves, etc) but we are adding in new moves, abilities and updating some mechanics.

Protagonists

Damien and Eva
The story:
Sakura

The player comes from a family of successful trainers - two of your cousins, Martin and Mariana, have high positions in the Vereshad region. Martin being one of the region's gym leaders and Mariana being the champion, your parents would often compare you to them. Finally deciding it's time to become a trainer and prove yourself, you meet with the new temporary Professor, Professor Sakura, to get your starter Pokémon and begin your journey. While there you meet with your childhood friend "Damien" and someone entirely new to this region, "Eva!"

During your adventure you'll learn more about your friends, but more importantly you'll be learning more about the region and it's rich lore. How did Vereshad become this melting-pot of culture? Where is the original Professor - Professor Ilex? Why is Sakura sitting in for Ilex? Who is Team Radiance? What is their motive?
Who is the legendary Pokémon, and what is it's power?

Oh, you want more?
Professor Ilex was a renowned professor who studied culture and ancient civilizations. The Vereshad Region is known for being diverse to an improbable degree, so its cultural research potential is nearly limitless. He was researching the mysterious disappearance of an entire population of ancient people. They vanished without a trace despite evidence that they were clearly very advanced. No remains or evidence of travel, they simply disappeared. Ilex stumbles upon new evidence, a fractured diagram, or a piece to a mural, and has a breakthrough. The Pokémon known as Apochlys must have been responsible for the disappearance of the ancient people - perhaps even for the creation of the region as a whole?
