Expedition's philosophy is all Pokémon are viable and trainable to your own specs with the exception of a few that lean one way or another. Expanded Egg Moves allow for Trainers to breed Pokémon in a variety of ways. No bad Pokémon. If it's your favorite Pokémon, use that Pokémon and see what kind of combos you can come up with! :)

An immersive reimagining of Kanto and Johto

Pokémon Expedition is a classic-style journey through Kanto, Johto, and the Sevii Islands, combining the stories of Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal into one cohesive narrative — with elements from Pokémon: The First Movie integrated into the plot.

Giovanni still controls the Mewtwo project… and he won't hesitate to bring out the ultimate weapon.

I think you need to give more screenshot like how the new area look and more new things on screenshot
I definitely will. I was just trying to get the post up with the minimum amount of screenshots since I had an issue uploading. Since it's resolved and I'll have some time today, I'll definitely post more. 😊

Update out now fixing a Windows crash regarding the Light Ball sisters and Pewter City freezing crash! :)

New update out fixing the freezing when entering a city like Pewter. Even though I could not reproduce the crash, I did notice an NPC missing when he should have been there and I did find some small errors in the script. Fixed that and now the NPC shows up, so the freezing should be gone now. Thanks to those who pointed this out! :)

Final update out now! :) Future updates include language translation. Should be 100% bug free, but if you find anything, let me know. Documentation coming soon. :)

VERSION 1.1.0 RESOLVED: Issue with the migration system. Evening and Night encounters work, but not Morning or Afternoon. Got it resolved (no migration system currently due to this) and will have an in-game gift next to Viridian PokeMart.

Is the game complete?
What does it mean when you say key battles may take between 15 to 30 minutes approximately?

Complete and receiving translation in French currently with more languages to come.

As far as the key battles that take a little time, they are raid style in the sense of the player getting "jumped" by a gang. Their total Pokemon count is above 6, forcing the player to adapt and strategize.

Update coming on 3/4 or 3/5 with bug fixes, map fixes and move updates to name a few. Still looking for help with language translations. If you are interested, let me know! One person currently working on French.

Version 1.1.2 out now! Should also play on iPhones with the RPGMaker app from the Apple Store. Let me know if you have any issues.

1.1.4 out now! Updates include: game freezing bug crash fix on Route 28, Vaporeon, Flareon and Espeon BST boost to match the other Eeveelutions, expanded egg moves, map polishes, move changes to Magnet Rise, Nasty Plot and Charge affect the whole side of the player and more.

Finally able to reach 4rd gym i think yesterday. I'm not really fan's of default gen 3 tileset maybe because I think it's bland and most game already use Gen 4 and 5 tileset or use modified of Gen 3 so seeing this default tiles is need to adjust again for me but I don't know maybe just not for me but i love how the game map is big make the world feel new and fun to explore for me. The battle can become a contest for stronger attack an level because sometimes the AI not that smart sometimes but mostly the battle is enjoyable. I think so far the plot is average pokemon game nothing standout.Thank you for this demo. It's unfortunate this game not in many people's radar and not many pokemon youtuber make playthrough because this game really deserves a chance to shine. Stay healthy and stay safe and thank you for updating this game

If there suggestion maybe is if you can make the pokemon Sprite moving like in gen 5 because i think doing this will good to attract more people to play your game

Thanks for playing and glad that you're enjoying it! Things will start to pick up after the 4th badge.

I thought about adding moving sprites, but havent committed to the idea 100% yet. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

1.1.5 Updates include: some more map fixes, notably Mt. Moon receiving an update, BST updates for all Legendary Pokemon from 720 to above 800 to make them a little more special, more Trainer re-battles, Jukebox no longer resets after Pokemon evolves in battle, updated documentation and a new shop in Cinnabar after you get your 7th badge.

I think the last major thing to fix is the seasonal migration system and a few other small things. Language translations for French and Spanish still in progress.

1.1.6 Update coming 4/18/26: Fixed the newly added Pokemon that fit the wings, floating category. I had it in one script, but not the other. Egg Move pool updated for Bagon, Dratini and Gible and gave Sentret a few. Also, Nuzlocke mode coming! A new feature with breeding is ability inheritance. Holding a Prism Scale acts the same way Destiny Knot and Everstone work. A new item called Trait Scale allows a parent to pass down both it's ability and nature for those chain breeding. 64 abilities will be able to be passed down. Levitate has been completely replaced and Pokemon with a 1/8th female ratio are now 25 percent female. Finally, got the migration side fixed! It might take a second for the overworld encounters to show, but they will pop up as you walk around. Let me know if you find any other issues! Finally, nightmare mode...?

1.1.6 OUT NOW! Nightmare mode is a post game feature. OST available to DL for the Audio folder (otherwise it would exceed 1GB, which is itch's limit).

FINAL VERSION OUT NOW!
Future updates are for bug crashes that weren't caught before, language translations, etc

PLEASE NOTE THAT SILPH CO. HAS A 75 MINUTE BATTLE (as a raid style) AND ANY OTHER 'LENGHTY' BATTLES (AKA LIKE 4 OTHER BATTLES) ARE ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES DEPENDING ON POKEMON LEVEL/PLAYER SKILL

I started with Red back in '99, but my favorite was always Gold after I played it, but some issues (HMs, especially waterfall, etc) with the game, I was convinced to make a game that's like the originals, but with a twist and better QoL features to make things interesting and fun.

A classic journey in the Kanto and Johto Regions. Re-live the adventure of Red and his Starter Pokémon as he travels through the Kanto and Johto Regions collecting all 16 badges of the two Regions and battling against the Elite 4 before taking on one last task...

QUESTION: I've played many other Kanto games including the official ones. What's so great/different about this one?
ANSWER: After collecting 7 of 8 badges in the Kanto Region, journey to Johto and collect the 8 badges of that Region just before getting your final badge in Viridian. Even though not much of the core game in regards of the original story has changed, there are some differences including, but not limited to: slightly modified timeline, the plot of the Johto games incorporated into the story, the plot of the First Pokémon Movie incorporated and some Easter Eggs from the show. Basically, Giovanni's Pokémon Clone experiment is in full swing and he still has control over Mewtwo and you have a battle with him. Mewtwo then takes off to another location where you go to find him, battle his clone army of (6) Pokémon then against Mewtwo himself again where you get the opportunity to catch him. Also, due to the addition of the Fairy type, the game is better balanced.

QUESTION: What features are in this game?
ANSWER: HMs replaced with Pokemon Skill, harder than the originals without overcomplicating it, Day/Night/Month/Season/Moon Phase Cycles based on real time, Clone Pokémon from the First Movie, Pokemon seasonal migration, expanded story to give some characters more personality/involvement, No Fakemon, Z-Moves, Mega Evolution, Regionals, under leveled evolved Pokemon (I'm looking at you, Falkner and your Pidgeotto), etc, some Pokemon typings modified such as Ninetales being Fire/Psychic and Marowak being Ground/Ghost, more Pokemon lore for non-legendaries, "custom" audio tracks for some areas, battles, etc, bigger maps to encourage exploration/give a little worldbuilding feeling, a bank (yes, a bank and no, it's not Mom), overworld encounters, two Starters, in battle evolution, overworld Pokemon in some cities and towns, a change at the construction site in Vermillion throughout the game, no more annoying trainers calling to tell you about their Rattata, etc. Many trainers are able to be re-battled every 3 days and some grow as you acquire badges (phone is only used to call Oak, Mom and specific parts of the storyline, Legendary Pokemon except Mewtwo can breed, etc

QUESTION: Speed up function/Game Hours?
ANSWER: No except for the running shoes (which you get right away) and the bicycle. Storyline playtime alone will be about 35-40 hours (guesstimating). It takes me a consistent 7hr 30min, give or take a few minutes+/-, to get to Celadon City and beating Erika alone. 100% Completion will probably be about 40-50 hours.

POKEDEX: 315 available Pokémon from the first 2 generations (this includes their baby and final forms from gen 3/4 as well as some other Pokémon from gen 3/4). Celebi axed due to not being able to fit it in the story as well as Qwilfish/Corsola/Remoraid/Octillery/Mantyke/Mantine (too many water Pokemon), Unown, Dunsparce, Delibird and Smeargle to fit better Pokémon. All trade evolutions have new evolution methods. Item trade hold Pokemon just need to hold the item and level up to evolve, Machoke/Kadabra/Graveler/Haunter all evolve at Level 42, all Eeveeloutions use their type's Stones to evolve including Espeon/Umbreon. Dawn/Dusk Stones not in game and Pokemon which evolve with those use either the Sun/Moon Stones respectively, breeding certain Pokemon such as Sudowoodo and Blissey DO NOT require incense. Some Pokemon have received new Egg Moves most notably Eevee for you Eevee fans.

STARTER CHANGES: The same starters from Kanto and Johto with some typing changes: Charmeleon/Charizard (Fire/Dragon), Blastoise (Water/Steel), Meganium (Grass/Psychic), Typhlosion (Fire/Ground), Feraligatr (Water/Dark). Still playing with the movesets/pools to reflect those changes as well as the few other Pokemon modded this way.

POST GAME: Catch Mew, re-challenge a modified Elite 4 and Gym Leaders, Sevii Islands Pokémon League style battles against different trainers back to back in place of the Battle Frontier, see areas of Kanto and Johto as they've grown throughout the game, so be sure to re- visit cities and towns throughout your journey as well as post game, visit secret route/area in place of the Johto Safari Zone to battle against me and my family/friends once a day, visit Mt. Silver to challenge Red, possibly more.

CREDITS: the usual: GF, Essentials Team.
Also: Aveon Trainer (some overworld sprites), Thundaga (tutorials), Vendily, TechSkylander1518 (in battle evolution), derFischae, Skyflyer (overworld Pokémon encounters/animation/aggressive/fixed spawn/remove pokeevent), Marin (PokeGear Watch), Pandappuccino (Banking System based on ATM), Lucidious89 (Pokemon Modular UI/Skill System/Enhanced Pokemon UI), Caruban (Auto-save), Goose (Shiny Eggs), Nononever, Golisopod User, Help-14, zingzags, Rayd12smitty, Venom12, mej71, PurpleZaffre, Akizakura16, Thundaga, Armin Fairies Resource Pack, Maruno (Following Pokemon EX), SWDFM (Ekans Game), Shammers (some battle music)

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Some occasional language may not be suitable for all audiences, but all language is "FCC Approved" radio/TV language.

Compatible with Joiplay for those wanting to play on the go like me! 💞💞 Also available on: Steam Deck, Modded Switch/PS3/Xbox 360, Linux and Mac!

Some parts may or may not contain semi lengthy dialogue, however, any dialogue of length has world building/storyline purpose, so it's not a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Also, you could get something for your troubles of reading what an NPC has to say.

Posted Screenshots are a few months old and do not represent final map layouts.

Interesting game I'm in fifth gym now, i love the game big map but i realize although feel big and long the route pretty much straight forward not many exploration in that route so the route feels not that intriguing, i realize this after also playing pokemon romhack pokemon fire red infinity horizon because this game have big map for both city and route.

I think the plus side this game is the story and the city and town map,the story although not something new in sense breakthroughs but the story still offer something new so player not feeling bored seeing fire red story again and again, i love the city map in this game. I also love many new item and features in this game quality of life.

If there something that i can give suggestion is using animated sprite during battle definitely will help the game gain more player and last is auto run will be helpful so people will not feel tired while playing. Thank you for the game.

Thanks for playing and the detailed message! 😊 I'm not 100% committed to the animated sprites, however, you're not the first to suggest it, so I think I will look into that for the next update. 😊 As far as running, currently, if you go into the options menu, there is a slide to allow constant running. Also, the bicycle voucher from the fan club in Vermillion to exchange in Cerulean. Thanks for the other details and information on the maps as well. 😊
