I ended up using the debugging tool to warp back to the castle area. I'm glad there's a fix for it though, thanks for your time :)

I entered the upper right house in the castle area (looks like a cafe, to the right of the pokemon center) that took me to the daycare. When I exited I appeared in what looks like a dev zone of some sort; broken paths, particle effects in a special zone, trainers like may and Blue were there...
