What it says on the tin. Games like Unbound where you can get rare Pokémon and have a good storyline. I love games with events to get Pokémon that are rare, or just that have cool rare Pokémon from the get go.

theres 3 normal starters but 25+ hidden ones if you sneak out the window, theres a hidden cave in almost every map with rare spawns or a legenday to get later, you can join team rocket or join the resistance (which is like the gym leaders) pretty good end game story but main game is just beat the 8 gyms (all gyms can be refought) chaining for shinys and evos is easy enough but well balanced gens 1-3 in maps normally but gen 4's can show up on any map randomly and some are very rare. all gen 1-4 legendarys either well hidden (some have never been found) or hidden by story or a puzzle. quality of life features on the pokegear and trainer card. crime and bounty hunters. ladders and lockpicks. also the best music of any pkmn game ever! If your more into the story pokemon shadow 2 is being worked on and its gonna be more story based.

Pokemon Bushido is heavily story driven; it's set in a feudal Japan inspired region much like Hisui, and you play a samurai investigating a ninja clan while also tracking down your missing father. As for rare Pokemon, you can easily get ones like Eevee, Happiny and Riolu early on.

The update hasn't dropped yet, but I heavily recommend Pokemon Postscriptum. Amazing storyline and characters, with rare mons (although not the rare ones you normally expect). Pokemon Odyssey is also a good one, with rare but interesting Pokemon at every corner, with unique designs and a pretty compelling storyline. There's Ashen Frost too, with a load of rare options, unique mons, and a heavy focus on story. These games use a game structure that is quite different from the classic, 8 gym-centric games, so if you like that stuff, go ahead.

Pokemon Z by Ericloste just had it's grips in me untill I caught up to the current point of development. It has an amazing story and scratches an itch that hasn't been scratched by any GameFreak pokemon game for me in a long time. It currently has 6 'Reagents' basically gyms, and a story that goes to the main game equivalent of the elite 4 and champion. The reigonal variants are really well done (though Greninja is very very different) and really my only complaint is that the badges are kinda mid, but that's not that big of a deal.
